1 - حدثنا الشيخ الجليل أبو جعفر محمد بن علي بن الحسين بن موسى ابن بابويه القمي (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا أبي (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا سعد بن عبد الله، قال: حدثنا أحمد بن محمد بن عيسى، عن أبيه، عن عبد الله بن المغيرة، عن طلحة بن زيد، عن أبي عبد الله الصادق جعفر بن محمد (عليهما السلام)، قال: مر عيسى بن مريم (عليه السلام) على قوم يبكون، فقال: على ما يبكي هؤلاء؟ فقيل: يبكون على ذنوبهم. قال: فليدعوها يغفر لهم (1).

Abu Ja`far Muhammad b. `Ali b. al-Husayn b. Musa b. Babuwayh al-Qummi (ra) narrated to us. He said: My father (ra) narrated to us. He said: Sa`d b. `Abdullah narrated to us. He said: Ahmad b. Muhammad b. `Isa narrated to us from his father from `Abdullah b. al-Mughira from Talha b. Zayd from Abi `Abdillah al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad (as). He said: `Isa b. Maryam (as) passed by a people who were weeping. So, he said: What are these people weeping over? So, it was said: They are weeping over their sins. He said: Then, they should abandon them, and they will be forgiven.

2 - حدثنا محمد بن الحسن بن أحمد بن الوليد (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا الحسين بن الحسن بن أبان، عن الحسين بن سعيد، عن الحسن بن علي الخزاز، قال: سمعت أبا الحسن الرضا (عليه السلام) يقول: قال عيسى بن مريم (عليه السلام) للحواريين: يا بني إسرائيل، لا تأسوا على ما فاتكم من دنياكم، إذا سلم دينكم، كما لا يأسى أهل الدنيا على ما فاتهم من دينهم إذا سلمت دنياهم (2).

يقول

Muhammad b. al-Hasan b. Ahmad b. al-Walid (ra) narrated to us. He said: Al-Husayn b. al-Hasan b. Aban narrated to us from al-Husayn b. Sa`id from al-Hasan b. `Ali al-Khazzaz. He said: I heard Aba’l Hasan al-Rida (as) say: `Isa b. Maryam (as) said to the apostles: O Children of Israel! Do not regret what you miss from your world when your religion advances for you, just as the people of this world do not regret what they miss from their religion when their world advances for them.

3 - حدثنا محمد بن موسى بن المتوكي (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا علي بن الحسين السعد آبادي، قال: حدثنا أحمد بن محمد بن خالد، عن أبيه، عن عبيد الله بن عبد الله الدهقان، عن واصل بن سليمان، عن عبد الله بن سنان، عن أبي عبد الله الصادق (عليه السلام)، قال: سمعت أبي يحدث عن أبيه (عليهما السلام)، قال: قال النبي (صلى الله عليه وآله): ما من صلاة يحضر وقتها إلا نادى ملك بين يدي الناس: قوموا إلى نيرانكم التي أوقدتموها على ظهوركم فأطفئوها بصلاتكم (1).

Muhammad b. Musa b. al-Mutawakkil (ra) narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. al-Husayn al-Sa`d Abadi narrated to us. He said: Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Khalid narrated to us from his father from `Abdullah b. `Abdullah al-Dahqan from Wasil b. Sulayman from `Abdullah b. Sinan from Abi `Abdillah al-Sadiq (as). He said: I heard my father narrate from his father (as).  He said: The Prophet (s) said: There is not a prayer that is attended on time except that an angel calls out from before the people: “Go to the fire that you have lit on your backs and extinguish it with your prayer.”

4 - حدثنا محمد بن علي ماجيلويه (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا أبي، عن أحمد ابن محمد بن خالد البرقي، عن أبيه، عن خلف (2) بن حماد الاسدي، عن أبي الحسن العبدي، عن الاعمش، عن سالم بن أبي الجعد، قال: سئل جابر بن عبد الله الانصاري عن علي بن أبي طالب (عليه السلام). فقال: ذاك خير خلق الله من الاولين والآخرين ما خلا النبيين والمرسلين، إن الله عز وجل لم يخلق خلقا بعد النبيين والمرسلين أكرم عليه من علي بن أبي طالب (عليه السلام) والائمة من ولده بعده. قلت: فما تقول فيمن يبغضه وينتقصه؟ فقال: لا يبغضه إلا كافر، ولا ينتقصه إلا منافق. قلت: فما تقول فيمن يتولاه ويتولى الائمة من ولده بعده؟ فقال: إن شيعة علي والائمة من ولده هم الفائزون الآمنون يوم القيامة. ثم قال: ما ترون لو أن رجلا خرج يدعو الناس إلى ضلالة، من كان أقرب الناس منه؟ قالوا: شيعته وأنصاره. قال: فلو أن رجلا خرج يدعو الناس إلى هدى من كان أقرب الناس منه؟ قال: شيعته وأنصاره. قال: فكذلك علي بن أبي طالب (عليه السلام)، بيده لواء الحمد يوم القيامة، أقرب الناس منه شيعته وأنصاره (3).

عن علي بن أبي طالب ع فقال

Muhammad b. `Ali Majiluwayh (rh) narrated to us. He said: My father narrated to us from Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Khalid al-Barqi from his father from Khalaf b. Hammad al-Asadi from Abi'l Hasan al-`Abdi from al-A`mash from Salim b. Abi'l Ju`d. He said: Jabir b. `Abdullah al-Ansari was asked about `Ali b. Abi Talib (as), so he said: He is the best creation of Allah from the beginning to the end, with exception to the prophets and messengers. Surely, Allah did not create a creation after the prophets and messengers that is more honoured by Him than `Ali b. Abi Talib (as) and the Imams from his descendants after him. I said: What do you say regarding those who hate him and detract from him? So, he said: None hate him except a disbeliever (kafir), and none detract from him except a hypocrite (munafiq). I said: What do you say regarding those who align with him and align with the Imams from his descendants after him? So, he said: Surely, the Shi`a of `Ali and the Imams after him from his descendants will be triumphant and safe on the Day of Resurrection. Then, he said: If a man were to come out and call the people to misguidance, who would be the closest people to him? They said: His party (shi`a) and his supporters. He said:  So, if a man were to come out and call the people to guidance, who would be the closest people be to him? They said: His party and his supporters. He said: It is the same with `Ali b. Abi Talib (as). In his hand will be the Banner of Praise on the Day of Resurrection. The closest people to him will be his Shi`a and his supporters.

5 - حدثنا أحمد بن محمد بن يحيى العطار (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا أبي، عن محمد بن الحسين بن أبي الخطاب، عن محمد بن سنان، عن الحسين بن زيد عن أبي عبد الله الصادق جعفر بن محمد (عليه السلام)، قال: من دخل موضعا من مواضع التهمة فاتهم فلا يلومن إلا نفسه (1).

Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Yahya al-`Attar (rh) narrated to us. He said: My father narrated to us from Muhammad b. al-Husayn b. Abi'l Khattab from Muhammad b. Sinan from al-Husayn b. Zayd from Abi `Abdillah al-Sadiq Jafar b. Muhammad (as). He said: Whoever goes to a blameworthy place and is accused [of something associated with it], he has none to blame but himself.

6 - حدثنا أبي (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا سعد بن عبد الله، قال: حدثنا إبراهيم ابن هاشم، عن عبد الرحمن بن أبي نجران، عن عاصم بن حميد، عن محمد بن قيس، عن أبي جعفر (عليه السلام)، قال: كان علي (عليه السلام) كل بكرة يطوف في أسواق الكوفة سوقا سوقا ومعه الدرة على عاتقه، وكان لها طرفان، وكانت تسمى السبيبة (2)، فيقف على سوق سوق فينادي: يا معشر التجار، قدموا الاستخارة، وتبركوا بالسهولة، واقتربوا من المبتاعين، وتزينوا بالحلم، وتناهوا عن الكذب واليمين، وتجافوا عن الظلم، وأنصفوا المظلمومين، ولا تقربوا الربا، وأوفوا الكيل والميزان، ولا تبخسوا الناس أشياءهم، ولا تعثوا في الارض مفسدين. يطوف في جميع أسواق الكوفة، فيقول هذا، ثم يقول: تفنى اللذاذة ممن نال صفوتها * * من الحرام ويبقى الاثم والعار تبقى عواقب سوء في مغبتها * * لا خير في لذة من بعدها النار (3)

كل بكرة يطوف

My father (rh) narrated to us. He said: Sa`d b. `Abdullah narrated to us. He said: Ibrahim b. Hashim narrated to us from `Abd al-Rahman b. Abi Najran from `Asim b. Humayd from Muhammad b. Qays from Abi Ja`far (as). He said: `Ali (as) would go out every morning and patrol the marketplaces in Kufa, one market at a time. With him was a whip, which he carried on his shoulder. It had two strips, and it was called al-Sabsabiyya. He would stand at every market and call: “O merchants! Seek goodness [from Allah], conclude each transaction with ease, be close to the consumers, adorn yourselves with forbearance, abstain from swearing [false oaths], desist from lying, and abandon injustice. Relieve the oppressed, and do not come close to usury. Maintain proper measurement and balance. Do not undervalue the people's things, and do not spread corruption in the land.” He would roam through all the markets of Kufa and say this. Then, he would say: Pleasure will fade away when it is taken from the forbidden, What will remain is sin and embarrassment, Harsh punishment will remain as its consequence, There is no good in a pleasure that precedes the Fire.

7 - وبهذا الاسناد، قال: قال أبو جعفر (عليه السلام): كان أمير المؤمنين (عليه السلام) بالكوفة إذا صلى العشاء الآخرة ينادي الناس ثلاث مرات حتى يسمع أهل المسجد: أيها الناس، تجهزوا رحمكم الله، فقد نودي فيكم بالرحيل، فما التعرج (4) على الدنيا بعد نداء فيها بالرحيل! تجهزوا رحمكم الله وانتقلوا بأفضل ما بحضرتكم من الزاد، وهو التقوى، واعلموا أن طريقكم إلى المعاد، وممركم على الصراط، والهول الاعظم أمامكم، وعلى طريقكم عقبة كؤود (1) ومنازل مهولة مخوفة، لابد لكم من الممر عليها والوقوف بها، فإما برحمة من الله فنجاة من هولها، وعظم خطرها، وفظاعة منظرها، وشدة مختبرها، وإما بهلكة ليس بعدها انجبار (2).

By this isnad. He said: Abu Ja`far (as) said: When Amir al-Mu'minin (as) would lead the final `Isha’ prayer in Kufa, he would say this three times so that the people of the Mosque would hear it: "O people! Prepare yourselves, may Allah have mercy on you, for you have been called for departure. Do not confine yourself to this world after you have been called to leave it! Prepare yourselves, may Allah have mercy on you, with the best provision, and that is God-consciousness. Know that your road is toward the Resurrection, and you will pass over the Path (al-sirat). The great horror is before you, and upon your road is a severe obstacle and houses of horror and fear. You must pass through it and halt at it. If you receive a mercy from Allah, then you will be delivered from its horror, the greatness of its danger, and the severity of its trial. If there is destruction, then there is no solace after it."

8 - حدثنا محمد بن علي ماجيلويه (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا محمد بن يحيى العطار، قال: حدثنا محمد بن أحمد بن يحيى بن عمران الاشعري، قال: حدثنا أبو إسحاق إبراهيم بن هاشم، عن محمد بن عمر، عن موسى بن إبراهيم، عن أبي الحسن موسى بن جعفر، عن أبيه، عن جده (عليهم السلام)، قال: قالت أم سلمة (رضي الله عنها) لرسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله): بأبي أنت وأمي، المرأة يكون لها زوجان فيموتون ويدخلون الجنة، لايهما تكون؟ فقال (صلى الله عليه وآله): يا أم سلمة، تخير أحسنهما خلقا وخيرهما لاهله. يا أم سلمة، إن حسن الخلق ذهب بخير الدنيا والآخرة (3).

Muhammad b. `Ali Majiluwayh (ra) narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. Yahya al-`Attar narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. Ahmad b. Yahya b. `Imran al-Ash`ari narrated to us. He said: Abu Ishaq Ibrahim b. Hashim narrated to us from Muhammad b. `Umar from Musa b. Ibrahim from Abi'l Hasan Musa b. Ja`far from his father from his grandfather (as). He said: Umm Salama (ra) said to the Messenger of Allah (s): May my mother and my father be your sacrifice! If a woman married two different men in her life, and they both died, and they went to Paradise, which of the two will she be with? So, he (s) said: O Umm Salama! She will choose the one who had more beautiful character and was better to his family. O Umm Salama! Surely, beautiful character will achieve the good of this world and the Hereafter.

9 - حدثنا علي بن عبد الله الوراق، قال: حدثنا سعد بن عبد الله، عن محمد بن عبد الجبار، عن محمد بن إسماعيل بن بزيع، عن محمد بن أبي عمير، عن هشام بن سالم، عن أبي عبد الله الصادق جعفر بن محمد (عليه السلام)، قال: قال بعض أصحاب النبي (صلى الله عليه وآله) للنبي: يا رسول الله، ما بالنا نجد بأولادنا ما لا يجدون بنا؟ فقال: لانهم منكم، ولستم منهم (4).

`Ali b. `Abdullah al-Warraq narrated to us. He said: Sa`d b. `Abdullah narrated to us from Muhammad b. Abd al-Jabbar from Muhammad b. Isma`il b. Bazi` from Muhammad b. Abi `Umayr from Hisham b. Salim from Abi `Abdillah al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad (as). He said: One of the companions of the Prophet (s) said to the Prophet: O Messenger of Allah! Why do we find [characteristics] in our children that we do not find in ourselves? So, he said: Because they are from you, and you are not from them.

10 - حدثنا الحسين بن أحمد بن إدريس (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا أبي، قال: حدثنا إبراهيم بن هاشم، عن الحسن بن محبوب، عن عبد العزيز بن العبدي (5)، عن عبد الله بن أبي يعفور، قال: قال أبو عبد الله الصادق جعفر بن محمد (عليه السلام): يا عبد الله، إذا صليت صلاة فريضة فصلها لوقتها صلاة مودع يخاف أن لا يعود إليها، ثم اصرف ببصرك إلى موضع سجودك، فلو تعلم من عن يمينك وعن شمالك لاحسنت صلاتك، واعلم أنك بين يدي من يراك ولا تراه (1).

Al-Husayn b. Ahmad b. Idris (ra) narrated to us. He said: My father narrated to us. He said: Ibrahim b. Hashim narrated to us from al-Hasan b. Mahbub from `Abd al-`Aziz b. al-`Abdi from `Abdullah b. Abi Ya`fur.  He said: Abu `Abdillah al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad (as) said: O `Abdullah! When you pray an obligatory prayer, then pray it on-time in a meek way, fearing that you will never return to it again. Look to the place of your prostration (humble your sight), for if you knew who was to your right and to your left, you would have perfected your prayer. Know that you are before He who sees you while you cannot see Him.

11 - حدثنا محمد بن الحسن بن أحمد بن الوليد (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا محمد بن الحسن الصفار، عن العباس بن معروف، عن علي بن مهزيار، عن جعفر بن محمد الهاشمي، عن أبي جعفر العطار شيخ من أهل المدينة، قال سمعت الصادق جعفر بن محمد (عليه السلام) يقول: جاء رجل إلى رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله) فقال: يا رسول الله، كثرت ذنوبي وضعف عملي. فقال رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله): أكثر السجود فإنه يحط الذنوب كما تحط الريح ورق الشجر (2).

Muhammad b. al-Hasan b. Ahmad b. al-Walid (ra) narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. al-Hasan al-Safar narrated to us from al-`Abbas b. Ma`ruf from `Ali b. Mahziyar from Ja`far b. Muhammad al-Hashimi from Abi Ja`far al-`Attar – a shaykh from the people of Medina. He said: I heard al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad (as) say: A man came to the Messenger of Allah (s) and said: O Messenger of Allah! My sins have become numerous, and my good work has weakened. So, the Messenger of Allah (s) said: Increase in prostrating, for it brings down sins just as a breeze brings down the leaves of a tree.
