1 - حدثنا الشيخ الجليل الفاضل أبو جعفر محمد بن علي بن الحسين ابن موسى بن بابويه القمي (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا أبي (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا سعد بن عبد الله، عن هارون بن مسلم بن سعدان، عن مسعدة بن صدقة، عن الصادق، عن أبيه، عن آبائه (عليهم السلام) قال: قال رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله): إذا عطس المرء المسلم ثم سكت لعلة تكون به، قالت الملائكة عنه: الحمد لله رب العالمين، فإن قال: الحمد لله رب العالمين، قالت الملائكة: يغفر الله لك (1).

Abu Ja`far Muhammad b. `Ali b. al-Husayn b. Musa b. Babuwayh al-Qummi (ra) narrated to us. He said: My father (ra) narrated to us. He said: Sa`d b. `Abdullah narrated to us from Harun b. Muslim b. Sa`dan from Mas`ada b. Sadaqa from al-Sadiq from his father from his forefathers (as). He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said: When a Muslim sneezes and says nothing for some reason, the angels say “Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds (alhamdulillahi rabb al-`alamin)” on his behalf. When he says: “Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Wolrds”, the angels say: “May Allah forgive you.”

Muhammad b. al-Hasan b. Ahmad b. al-Walid (ra) narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. al-Hasan al-Saffar narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. `Isa b. `Ubayd narrated to us from Yunus b. `Abd al-Rahman from Abi Jamila from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad from his forefathers (as). He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said: Allah said: O My saintly servants! Find felicity in your worship of Me in this world, for you will be delighted by it in Paradise.

3 - حدثنا محمد بن موسى بن المتوكل (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا سعد بن  عبد الله، قال: حدثنا إبراهيم بن هاشم، عن الحسين بن الحسن القرشي، عن سليمان ابن جعفر البصري، عن عبد الله بن الحسين بن زيد بن علي بن الحسين بن علي بن أبي طالب، عن أبيه، عن الصادق جعفر بن محمد، عن أبيه، عن آبائه (عليهم السلام)، قال: قال رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله): إن الله تبارك وتعالى كره لكم - أيتها الامة - أربعا وعشرين خصلة ونهاكم عنها: كره لكم العبث في الصلاة، وكره المن في الصدقة، وكره الضحك بين القبور، وكره التطلع في الدور، وكره النظر إلى فروج النساء، وقال: يورث العمي، وكره الكلام عند الجماع، وقال: يورث الخرس، وكره النوم قبل العشاء الآخرة، وكره الحديث بعد العشاء الآخرة، وكره الغسل تحت السماء بغير مئزر، وكره المجامعة تحت السماء، وكره دخول الانهار إلا بمئزر، وقال: في الانهار عمار وسكان من الملائكة، وكره دخول الحمامات إلا بمئزر، وكره الكلام بين الاذان والاقامة في صلاة الغداة حتى تقضى الصلاة، وكره ركوب البحر في هيجانه، وكره النوم فوق سطح ليس بمحجر، وقال: من نام على سطح غير محجر فبرئت منه الذمة. وكره أن ينام الرجل في بيت وحده، وكره للرجل أن يغشى امرأته وهي حائض، فإن غشيها وخرج الولد مجذوما أو أبرص فلا يلومن إلا نفسه، وكره أن يغشى الرجل المرأة وقد احتلم حتى يغتسل من احتلامه الذي رأى، فإن فعل وخرج الولد مجنونا فلا يلومن إلا نفسه، وكره أن يكلم الرجل مجذوما إلا أن يكون بينه وبينه قدر ذراع، وقال: فر من المجذوم فرارك من الاسد. وكره البول على شط نهر جار، وكره أن يحدث الرجل تحت شجرة قد أينعت أو نخلة قد أينعت - يعني أثمرت - وكره أن يتنعل الرجل وهو قائم، وكره أن يدخل الرجل البيت المظلم إلا أن يكون بين يديه سراج أو نار، وكره النفخ في الصلاة (1).

Muhammad b. Musa b. al-Mutawakkil (ra) narrated to us. He said: Sa`d b. `Abdullah narrated to us. He said: Ibrahim b. Hashim narrated to us from al-Husayn b. al-Hasan al-Qurashi from Sulayman b. Ja`far al-Basri from `Abdullah b. al-Husayn b. Zayd b. `Ali b. al-Husayn b. `Ali b. Abi Talib from his father from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad from his father from his forefathers (as). He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said: O Nation! Surely, Allah has disliked for you to have twenty-four characteristics, and He has prohibited them from you. He has disliked for you: (1) fiddling in prayer, (2) reminding others of your goodwill to them, (3) smiling before graves, (4) browsing the houses [of people without their permission], (5) gazing at the private of women – and he said: it causes blindness – (6) speaking during intercourse – and he said: it causes muteness – (7) sleeping before the final `Isha’, (8) socializing after the final `Isha’, (9) bathing beneath the sky without a cover, (10) intercourse beneath the sky, (11) entering rivers naked – and he said: in the rivers are living quarters of angels – (12) entering the bathhouses naked, (13) speaking between the adhan and the iqama until the prayer has been completed, (14) setting sail in a frenzy, (15) sleeping on a roof that is not plastered – and he said: whoever sleeps on a roof that is not plastered, no one bears responsibility for him – (16) for a man to sleep alone in a house, (17) for a man to have intercourse with his wife while she is menstruating, for if he does so, the child will be leprous, and he will have no one to blame but himself, (18) for a man to have intercourse with a woman after having a wet dream without bathing himself from the dream that he had seen; for if he does that, the child will come to be insane, and he will have no one to blame but himself, (19) for a man to speak to a leper without being an armlength away – and he said: keep away from a leper just as you keep away from a lion – (20) urinating on a flowing river, (21) for a man to speak under a tree that has blossomed or a date palm whose fruits have ripened, (22) for a man to put on his sandals while he is standing, (23) for a man to enter a dark house without a lamp or a candle, and (24) to blow during prayer.

4 - حدثنا محمد بن علي ماجيلويه (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا محمد بن يحيى العطار، قال: حدثنا محمد بن الحسين بن أبي الخطاب، عن محمد بن سنان  عن عمار بن مروان، عن سماعة، عن أبي عبد الله الصادق (عليه السلام)، قال: إن الله عز وجل أنعم على قوم بالمواهب، فلم يشكروا، فصارت عليهم وبالا، وابتلى قوما بالمصائب فصبروا، فصارت عليها نعمة (1).

قال

Muhammad b. Majiluwayh (ra) narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. Yahya al-`Attar narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. al-Husayn b. Abi’l Khattab narrated to us from Muhammad b. Sinan from `Ammar b. Marwan from Sama`a from Abi `Abdillah al-Sadiq (as). He said: Surely, Allah bestowed gifts upon a community, and they were not thankful, so it became a scourge for them; and He tried a community with afflictions, and they were patient, so it became a blessing for them.

5 - حدثنا أحمد بن محمد بن يحيى العطار (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا أبي، عن محمد بن أحمد بن يحيى الاشعري، عن يعقوب بن يزيد، عن عبد الله بن محمد المزخرف، عن علي بن عقبة، عن ابن بكير، قال: أخذ الحجاج موليين لعلي (عليه السلام)، فقال لاحدهما: ابرأ من علي. فقال: ما جزائي إن لم أبرأ منه؟ قال: قتلني الله إن لم أقتلك، فاختر لنفسك قطع يديك أو رجيلك. قال: فقال له الرجل: هو القصاص، فاختر لنفسك. قال: تالله إني لارى لك لسانا، وما أظنك تدري من خلقك، أين ربك؟ قال: هو بالمرصاد لكل ظالم. فأمر بقطع يديه ورجليه وصلبه. قال: ثم قدم صاحبه الآخر، فقال: ما تقول؟ فقال: أنا على رأي صاحبي. قال: فأمر أن يضرب عنقه ويصلب (2).

قال أخذ الحجاج موليين لعلي ع فقال

Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Yahya al-`Attar (rh) narrated to us. He said: My father narrated to us from Muhammad b. Ahmad b. Yahya al-Ash`ari from Ya`qub b. Yazid from `Abdullah b. Muhammad al-Mazkharaf from `Ali b. `Uqba from Ibn Bukayr. He said: Al-Hajjaj took two clients of `Ali (as) and said to one of them: Dissociate from `Ali. So, he said: What will happen to me if I do not dissociate from him? He said: May Allah kill me if I do not kill you. So, choose for yourself: do you want your hands severed or your feet? So, the man said to him: Since it is retributive, then you should decide for yourself. He said: By Allah, I see that you have a tongue, but I do not think you comprehend who created you. Where is your Lord? He said: He is on the lookout for every oppressor. So, he called for his hands and feet to be severed, and he crucified him. He said: Then, his other companion came forward. So, he said: What do you say? So, he said: I am of the opinion of my companion. So, he called for his neck to be struck and to be crucified.

6 - حدثنا أبي (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثني أحمد بن علي التفليسي، عن إبراهيم بن محمد الهمداني، عن محمد بن علي الهادي، عن علي بن موسى الرضا، عن الامام موسى بن جعفر، عن الصادق جعفر بن محمد، عن الباقر محمد بن علي، عن سيد العابدين علي بن الحسين، عن سيد شباب أهل الجنة الحسين، عن سيد الاوصياء علي (عليه السلام)، عن سيد الانبياء محمد (صلى الله عليه وآله)، قال: لا تنظروا إلى كثرة صلاتهم وصومهم، وكثرة الحج والمعروف، وطنطنتهم بالليل، انظروا إلى صدق الحديث وأداء الامانة (3).

My father (ra) narrated to us. He said: Ahmad b. `Ali al-Taflisi narrated to me from Ibrahim b. Muhammad al-Hamadani from Muhammad b. `Ali al-Hadi from `Ali b. Musa al-Rida from Imam Musa b. Ja`far from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad from al-Baqir Muhammad b. `Ali from the Master of Worshipers `Ali b. al-Husayn from the Master of the Youth of Paradise al-Husayn from the Master of Deputies `Ali (as) from the Masters of Prophets Muhammad (s). He said: Do not look to the plenitude of their prayers, their fasting, their pilgrimages, their good works, and their recitation at night. Look to the honesty of their words and the fulfillment of their trusts.

/ 7 - حدثنا الحسين بن أحمد بن إدريس (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا أبي، عن  أحمد بن محمد بن خالد، عن محمد بن علي الكوفي، عن محمد بن سنان، عن عيسى النهر يري، عن أبي عبد الله الصادق، عن آبائه (عليهم السلام)، قال: قال رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله) من عرف الله وعظمه، منع فاه من الكلام، وبطنه من الطعام، وعنى نفسه بالصيام والقيام. قالوا: بآبائنا وأمهاتنا - يا رسول الله - هؤلاء أولياء الله؟ قال: إن أولياء الله سكتوا فكان سكوتهم فكرا، وتكلموا فكان كلامهم ذكرا، ونظروا فكان نظرهم عبرة، ونطقوا فكان نطقهم حكمة، ومشوا فكان مشيهم بين الناس بركة، لولا الآجال التي قد كتبت عليهم لم تستقر أرواحهم في أجسادهم خوفا من العذاب وشوقا إلى الثواب (1).

Al-Husayn b. Ahmad b. Idris (rh) narrated to us. He said: My father narrated to us from Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Khalid from Muhammad b. `Ali al-Kufi from Muhammad b. Sinan from `Isa al-Nahryara from Abi `Abdillah al-Sadiq from his forefathers (as).
He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said: Whomever recognizes Allah and His greatness will prevent his lips from speech and his stomach from food, and will support himself with fasting and standing in prayer. They said: May our mothers and our fathers be your sacrifice, O Messenger of Allah! Are these [who fulfill this prescription] the friends of Allah? He said: Surely, the friends of Allah are silent, and their silence becomes reflection; they talk, and their talk is the remembrance [of Allah]; they observe, and their observation is a lesson; they speak, and their speech is wisdom; they walk, and their walking between the people is a blessing. Were it not for the term destined for them, their spirits would not have settled in their bodies out of fear of punishment and out of desire for reward.

8 - حدثنا أحمد بن محمد بن يحيى العطار (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا أبي، عن محمد بن الحسين بن أبي الخطاب، عن محمد بن سنان، عن أبي الجارود، عن أبي جعفر الباقر، عن أبيه، عن جده (عليهم السلام)، قال: قال أمير المؤمنين (عليه السلام): من وقف نفسه موقف التهمة فلا يلومن من أساء به الظن، ومن كتم سره كانت الخيرة بيده، وكل حديث جاوز اثنين فشا، وضع أمر أخيك على أحسنه حتى يأتيك منه ما يغلبك، ولا تظنن بكلمة خرجت من أخيك سوءا وأنت تجد لها في الخير محملا، وعليك بإخوان الصدق فأكثر من اكتسابهم، فإنهم عدة عند الرخاء وجنة عند البلاء، وشاور في حديثك الذين يخافون الله، وأحبب الاخوان على قدر التقوى، واتقوا شرار النساء، وكونوا من خيارهن على حذر، إن أمرنكم بالمعروف فخالوهن، كيلا يطمعن منكم في المنكر (2).

9 - حدثنا أبي (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا الحسن (3) بن أحمد المالكي، عن أبيه، عن علي بن المؤمل، قال: لقيت موسى بن جعفر (عليهما السلام) وكان يخضب  بالحمرة، فقلت: جعلت فداك، ليس هذا من خضاب أهلك. فقال: أجل، كنت أخضب بالوسمة فتحرك علي أسناني، إن الرجل كان إذا أسلم على عهد رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله) فعل ذلك، ولقد خضب أمير المؤمنين (عليه السلام) بالصفرة، فبلغ النبي (صلى الله عليه وآله) ذلك، فقال: إسلام. فخضبه بالحمرة، فبلغ النبي (صلى الله عليه وآله) ذلك، فقال: إسلام وإيمان. فخضبه بالسواد، فبلغ النبي (صلى الله عليه وآله) ذلك، فقال: إسلام وإيمان ونور (1).

موسى بن جعفر عليه السلام

My father (ra) narrated to us. He said: Al-Hasan b. Ahmad al-Maliki narrated to us from his father from `Ali b. al-Mu’ammal. He said: I met Musa b. Ja`far (as) and he used to dye with red. So, I said: May I be your sacrifice! This is not from the dye of your family. So, he said: Yes, I used to dye with isatis, but it began hurting my teeth. When a man would convert to Islam during the time of the Messenger of Allah (s), he would do that. Once, Amir al-Mu’minin (as) dyed with yellow, and he told the Prophet (s) that, and he said: “Islam.” So, he dyed with red, and he told the Prophet (s) that, and he said: “Islam and faith.” So, he dyed with black, and he told the Prophet (s) that, and he said: “Islam, faith, and light.”

10 - حدثنا الحسين بن إبراهيم بن ناتانه (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا علي بن إبراهيم، عن أبيه، عن محمد بن أبي عمير، عن حفص بن البختري، عن أبي عبد الله الصادق (عليه السلام)، قال: تقليم الاظافر، وأخذ الشارب من الجمعة إلى الجمعة، أمان من الجذام (2).

Al-Husayn b. Ibrahim b. Natana (rh) narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. Ibrahim narrated to us from his father from Muhammad b. Abi `Umayr from Hafs b. al-Bakhtari from Abi `Abdillah al-Sadiq (as). He said: Cutting the fingernails and trimming the mustache from Friday to Friday is a protection from leprosy.

11 - حدثنا علي بن عبد الله الوراق، قال: حدثنا سعد بن عبد الله، عن إبراهيم بن مهزيار، عن أخيه علي، عن الحسين بن سعيد، عن الحارث بن محمد بن النعمان الاحول صاحب الطاق، عن جميل بن صالح، عن أبي عبد الله الصادق (عليه السلام)، عن آبائه (عليهم السلام)، قال: قال رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله): من أحب أن يكون أكرم الناس فليتق الله، ومن أحب أن يكون أتقى الناس فليتوكل على الله، ومن أحب أن يكون أغنى الناس فليكن بما عند الله عز وجل أوثق منه بما في يده. ثم قال (صلى الله عليه وآله): ألا أنبئكم بشر الناس؟ قالوا: بلى، يا رسول الله. قال: من أبغض الناس وأبغضه الناس. ثم قال: ألا أنبئكم بشر من هذا؟ قالوا: بلى، يا رسول الله. قال: الذي لا يقيل عثرة، ولا يقبل معذرة، ولا يغفر ذنبا. ثم قال: ألا أنبئكم بشر من هذا؟ قالوا: بلى، يا رسول الله؟ قال: من لا يؤمن شره،  ولا يرجى خيره، إن عيسى بن مريم (عليه السلام) قام في بني إسرائيل فقال: يا بني إسرائيل، لا تحدثوا بالحكمة الجهال فتظلموها، ولا تمنعوها أهلها فتظلموهم، ولا تعينوا الظالم على ظلمه فيبطل فضلكم الامور ثلاثة: أمر تبين لك رشده فاتبعه، وأمر تبين لك غيه فاجتنبه، وأمر اختلف فيه فرده إلى الله عز وجل (1).

`Ali b. `Abdillah al-Warraq narrated to us. He said: Sa`d b. `Abdillah narrated to us from Ibrahim b. Mehzayar from his brother `Ali from al-Husayn b. Sa`id from al-Harith b. Muhammad b. al-Nu`man al-Ahwal Sahib al-Taq from Jamil b. Salih from Abi `Abdillah al-Sadiq (as) from his forefathers (as). He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said: Whoever would love to be the noblest of people should fear Allah. Whoever would love to be the most Godfearing of people should rely on Allah. Whoever would love to be the richest of people should have more trust in what is with Allah than what is in his hand. Then, he (s) said: Shall I not tell you who is the evilest of people? They said: Of course, O Messenger of Allah. He said: He who hates the people and is hated by the people. Then, he said: Shall I not tell you who is eviller than this? They said: Of course, O Messenger of Allah. He said: He who does not dismiss an offense, nor accept an excuse, nor forgive a trespassing. Then, he (s) said: Shall I not tell you who is eviller than this? They said: Of course, O Messenger of Allah. He said: He from whose evil the people are not safe from, and whose good is not even hoped for. Surely, `Isa b. Maryam (as) stood among the Children of Israel and said: “O Children of Israel! Do not impart wisdom to fools, for you will have oppressed it; and do not prevent it from its people, for you will have oppressed them.” Do not assist an oppressor in his oppression, for that would invalidate your virtue. There are three matters: (1) a matter whose rightness is apparent to you, so follow it; (2) a matter whose misguidance is apparent to you, so avoid it; (3) a matter that is disagreed upon, so relegate that to Allah.

12 - حدثنا جعفر بن علي بن الحسن بن علي بن عبد الله بن المغيرة الكوفي (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثني جدي الحسن بن علي، عن جده عبد الله بن المغيرة، عن إسماعيل بن مسلم السكوني، عن الصادق جعفر بن محمد، عن أبيه، عن آبائه (عليهم السلام)، قال: قال النبي (صلى الله عليه وآله): أوحى الله عز وجل إلى داود (عليه السلام): يا داود، كما لا تضيق الشمس على من جلس فيها، كذلك لا تضيق رحمتي على من دخل فيها، وكما لا تضر الطيرة من لا يتطير منها، كذلك لا ينجو من الفتنة المتطيرون، وكما أن أقرب الناس مني يوم القيامة المتواضعون، كذلك أبعد الناس مني يوم القيامة المتكبرون (2).

Ja`far b. `Ali b. al-Hasan b. `Ali b. `Abdillah b. al-Mughira al-Kufi (ra) narrated to us. He said: My grandfather al-Hasan b. `Ali narrated to me from his grandfather `Abdullah b. al-Mughira from Isma`il b. Muslim al-Sukuni from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad from his father from his forefathers (as). He said: The Prophet (s) said: Allah revealed to Dawud: “O Dawud! Just as the Sun does not decrease for he who basks in it, likewise, My mercy does not decrease for he who enters into it. Just as evil omen does not harm he who does not see it, likewise, the disseminators of evil omen will not be saved from the calamity. Just as the closest people to Me on the Day of Resurrection will be the humble, likewise, the furthest people from Me on the Day of Resurrection will be the arrogant.”

- حدثنا أبي (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا سعد بن عبد الله، قال: حدثنا أحمد ابن الحسين بن سعيد عن محمد بن جمهور العمي، عن عبد الرحمن بن أبي نجران، عن عصام بن حميد، عن محمد بن مسلم، عن أبي عبد الله الصادق (عليه السلام)، قال: من حفظ من شيعتنا أربعين حديثا بعثه الله يوم القيامة عالما فقيها ولم يعذبه (3).
