1 - حدثنا الشيخ الجليل أبو جعفر محمد بن علي بن الحسين بن موسى ابن بابويه القمي (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا علي بن أحمد الدقاق (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا محمد بن هارون الصوفي، قال: حدثنا عبيد الله بن موسى الحبال الطبري، قال: حدثنا محمد بن الحسين الخشاب، قال: حدثنا محمد بن محصن، عن يونس بن ظبيان، عن الصادق جعفر بن محمد (عليهما السلام)، قال: إن الله تبارك وتعالى أوحى إلى داود (عليه السلام) ما لي أراك وحدانا؟ قال: هجرت الناس وهجروني فيك. قال: فما لي أراك ساكتا؟ قال: خشيتك أسكتتني. قال: فما لي أراك نصبا (1)؟ قال: حبك أنصبني. قال: فما لي أراك فقيرا وقد أفدتك؟ قال: القيام بحقك أفقرني. قال: فما لي أراك متذللا؟ قال: عظيم جلالك الذي لا يوصف ذللني، وحق ذلك لك يا سيدي. قال الله جل جلاله: فأبشر بالفضل مني، فلك ما تحب يوم تلقاني، خالط الناس، وخالقهم بأخلاقهم، وزايلهم في أعمالهم، تنل ما تريد مني يوم القيامة. وقال الصادق (عليه السلام): أوحى الله عز وجل إلى داود (عليه السلام): يا داود، بي  فافرح، وبذكر فتلذذ، وبمناجاتي، فتنعم، فعن قريب أخلي الدار من الفاسقين، وأجعل لعنتي على الظالمين (1).

Abu Ja`far Muhammad b. `Ali b. al-Husayn b. Musa b. Babuwayh al-Qummi (rh) narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. Ahmad al-Daqqaq (rh) narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. Harun al-Sufi narrated to us. He said: `Ubaydullah b. Musa al-Habbal al-Tabari narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. al-Husayn al-Khashab narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. Muhsan narrated to us from Yunus b. Thibyan from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad (as). He said: Allah revealed to Dawud (as): Why do I see you alone? He said: I have abandoned the people, and they have made me flee to You. He said: Why do I see you silent? He said: My awe of You has silenced me. He said: Why do I see you exhausted? He said: Loving You has exhausted me. He said: Why do I see that you are poor when I have redeemed you? He said: Fulfilling my responsibilities towards You has made me poor. He said: Why do I see you humbled? He said: The greatness of Your majesty, which cannot be described, has humbled me; and that is Your right, O Master. Allah said: So be glad for My reward, for you will have whatever you like on the Day that you will meet Me. You will receive whatever you want from Me on the Day of Resurrection. Al-Sadiq (as) said: Allah revealed to Dawud (as): O Dawud! Be happy by Me, seek pleasure by remembering [Me], and seek enjoyment by speaking to Me. Soon, I will empty the house of the transgressors, and I will place My damnation upon the oppressors.

2 - قال يونس بن ظبيان: وحدثني الصادق: عن أبيه، عن علي بن الحسين، عن أبيه، عن أمير المؤمنين (عليه السلام)، قال: لما أراد الله تبارك وتعالى قبض روح إبراهيم (عليه السلام)، أهبط إليه ملك الموت، فقال: السلام عليك يا أبراهيم. قال: وعليك السلام يا ملك الموت: أداع أم ناع؟ قال: بل داع يا إبراهيم. فأجب. قال إبراهيم (عليه السلام): فهل رأيت خليلا يميت خليله؟ قال: فرجع ملك الموت حتى وقف بين يدي الله جل جلاله، فقال: إلهي قد سمعت ما قال خليلك إبراهيم. فقال الله جل جلاله: يا ملك الموت، اذهب إليه وقل له: هل رأيت حبيبا يكره لقاء حبيبه؟ إن الحبيب يحب لقاء حبيبه (2).

Yunus b. Thibyan said: Al-Sadiq narrated to me from his father from `Ali b. al-Husayn from his father from Amir al-Mu’minin (as). He said: When Allah wanted to take the spirit of Ibrahim (as), He sent the Angel of Death down to him, who said: Peace be with you, Ibrahim. He said: And also with you, Angel of Death. Have you come to take me away, or have you come with news? He said: Rather, to take you away, Ibrahim, so answer. Ibrahim (as) said: Have you ever seen a friend cause a friend to die? He said: So, the Angel of Death returned until he stood before Allah and said: My God! You have heard what Your Friend Ibrahim has said. So, Allah said: O Angel of Death! Go to him and say to him: “Have you ever seen a lover that would hate to meet his beloved? Surely, the lover loves to meet his beloved.”

3 - حدثنا أحمد بن محمد الصائغ العدل، قال: حدثنا عيسى بن محمد العلوي، قال: حدثنا أبو عوانة، قال: حدثنا محمد بن سليمان بن بزيع الخزاز، قال: حدثنا إسماعيل بن أبان، عن سلام بن أبي عمرة الخراساني، عن معروف بن خربوذ المكي، عن أبي الطفيل عامر بن واثلة، عن حذيفة بن أسيد الغفاري، قال: قال رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله): يا حذيفة، إن حجة الله عليكم بعدي علي بن أبي طالب، الكفر به كفر بالله، والشرك به شرك بالله، والشك فيه شك في الله، والالحاد فيه إلحاد في الله، والانكار له إنكار لله، والايمان به إيمان بالله، لانه أخو رسول الله، ووصيه، وإمام امته ومولاهم، وهو حبل الله المتين، وعروته الوثقى التي لا انفصام لها، وسيهلك فيه اثنان ولا ذنب له: محب غال، ومقصر. يا حذيفة: لا تفارقن عليا فتفارقني، ولا تخالفن عليا فتخالفني، إن عليا مني  وأنا منه، من أسخطه فقد أسخطني، ومن أرضاه فقد أرضاني (1).

رسول الله ص

Ahmad b. Muhammad the just goldsmith narrated to us. He said: `Isa b. Muhammad al-`Alawi narrated to us. He said: Abu `Uwana narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. Sulayman b. Baziq al-Khazzaz narrated to us. He said: Isma`il b. Aban narrated to us from Salam b. Abi `Umra al-Khurasani from Ma`ruf b. Kharbudh al-Makki from Abi’l Tufayl `Amer b. Wathila from Hudhayfa b. Usayd al-Ghifari. He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said: O Hudhayfa! Surely, the Proof of Allah over you after me is `Ali b. Abi Talib. Disbelieving him is disbelieving in Allah, associating partners with him is associating partners with Allah, doubting him is doubting Allah, denying him is denying Allah, and negating him is negating Allah; for he is the brother of the Messenger of Allah, his deputy, and the Imam of his Nation and their Master. He is the firm Rope of Allah and the Firm Handle with no crack in it. Regarding him, two will be destroyed, to no fault of his: an excess lover (muhib ghal) and one who falls short (muqassir). O Hudhayfa! Do not split away from `Ali, for you will have split away from me; and do not oppose `Ali, for you will have opposed me. Surely, `Ali is from me and I am from him. Whoever hurts him has hurt me, and whoever pleases him has pleased me.

4 - حدثنا الحسين بن أحمد بن إدريس (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا أحمد بن محمد بن عيسى، عن عبد الرحمن بن أبي نجران، عن المفضل بن صالح، عن جابر ابن يزيد الجعفي، عن أبي جعفر محمد بن علي الباقر (عليه السلام)، قال: إن موسى بن عمران (عليه السلام) قال: يا رب، رضيت بما قضيت، تميت الكبير وتبقي الطفل الصغير، فقال الله جلاله: يا موسى، أما ترضاني لهم رازقا وكفيلا؟ قال: بلى يا رب، فنعم الوكيل أنت، ونعم الكفيل (2).

Al-Husayn b. Ahmad b. Idris (rh) narrated to us. He said: Ahmad b. Muhammad b. `Isa narrated to us from `Abd al-Rahman b. Abi Najran from al-Mufaddal b. Salih from Jabir b. Yazid al-Ju`fi from Abi Ja`far Muhammad b. `Ali al-Baqir (as). He said: Musa b. `Imran (as) said: O Lord! I am pleased with what You have decided, but You cause adults to die and leave behind their young children. So, Allah said: O Musa! Are you not pleased with Me as their Sustainer and their Protector? He said: Of course, O Lord. You are the best Trustee and the best Protector.

5 - حدثنا علي بن أحمد الدقاق (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا محمد بن هارون الصوفي، قال: حدثنا عبيد الله بن موسى الحبال الطبري، قال: حدثنا محمد بن الحسين الخشاب، قال: حدثنا محمد بن محصن بن عيسى، عن يونس بن ظبيان، قال: قال الصادق (عليه السلام): إن الله عز وجل أوحى إلى نبي من أنبياء بني إسرائيل: إن أحببت أن تلقاني غدا في حظيرة القدس، فكن في الدنيا وحيدا غريبا مهموما محزونا مستوحشا من الناس، بمنزلة الطير الواحد الذي يطير في أرض القفار، ويأكل من رؤوس الاشجار، ويشرب من ماء العيون، فإذا كان الليل أوى وحده، ولم يأو مع الطيور، استأنس بربه واستوحش من الطيور (3).

`Ali b. Ahmad al-Daqqaq (rh) narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. Harun al-Sufi narrated to us. He said: `Ubaydullah b. Musa al-Habbal al-Tabari narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. al-Husayn al-Khashab. He said: Muhammad b. Muhsan b. `Isa from Yunus b. Thibyan. He said: Al-Sadiq (as) said: Allah revealed to a prophet from the prophets of the Children of Israel: If you would like to meet Me anon in the Guarded Sanctuary, then be, in this world, alone, strange, worried, sorrowful, and away from the people – like a bird flying by itself in an uninhabited land, eating from the tops of trees, and drinking from the water of rivers. When night comes, it dwells alone, without seeking refuge in the other birds, and it finds comfort in its Lord away from the birds.

6 - حدثنا أبي (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا سعد بن عبد الله، عن أحمد بن محمد بن عيسى، عن الحسين بن سيف، عن سلام بن غانم، عن الصادق جعفر بن محمد (عليه السلام)، قال: من قال حين يأوي إلى فراشه: لا إله إلا الله، مائة مرة بنى الله له بيتا في الجنة، ومن استغفر حين يأوي إلى فراشه مائة مرة تحاتت ذنوبه كما يسقط  ورق الشجر (1).

My father (ra) narrated to me. He said: Sa`d b. `Abdullah narrated to me from Ahmad b. Muhammad b. `Isa from al-Husayn b. Sayf from Salam b. Ghanim from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad (as). He said: Whoever says “there is no god but Allah (la ilaha illallah)” one hundred times when he goes to his bed, Allah builds a house for him in Paradise. Whoever repents (istighfar) one hundred times when he goes to his bed, his sins will erode just as the leaves of a tree fall.

7 - قال الحسين بن سيف: حدثني أخي علي بن سيف، عن أبيه سيف ابن عميرة، عن الحسن بن الصباح، قال: حدثني أنس بن مالك، عن النبي (صلى الله عليه وآله): قال: كل جبار عنيد من أبى أن يقول لا إله إلا الله (2).

Al-Husayn b. Sayf said: My brother `Ali b. Sayf narrated to me from his father Sayf b. `Umayra from al-Hasan b. Al-Sabah. He said: Anas b. Malik narrated to me from the Prophet (s). He said: Every obstinate tyrant is one who refuses to say: “there is no god but Allah” (la ilaha illallah).

8 - حدثنا محمد بن الحسن بن أحمد بن الوليد (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا محمد بن الحسن الصفار، عن سلمة بن الخطاب، عن إبراهيم بن محمد، عن عمران الزعفراني، عن الصادق جعفر بن محمد (عليه السلام)، قال: ما من رجل دعا فختم دعاءه يقول: ما شاء الله، لا قوة إلا بالله، إلا اجيب صاحبه (3).

Muhammad b. al-Hasan b. Ahmad b. al-Walid (ra) narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. al-Hasan al-Saffar narrated to us from Salama b. al-Khattab from Ibrahim b. Muhammad from `Imran al-Za`farani from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad (as). He said: There is no man who prays and completes his prayer with “whatever Allah wishes – there is no strength except by Allah” (mashaAllah, la quwwata illa billah) except that his Owner answers.

9 - حدثنا أبي (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثني سعد بن عبد الله، عن أحمد بن محمد، عن الحسن بن محبوب، عن أبي جميلة، عن جابر، عن أبي جعفر الباقر (عليه السلام)، قال: إن ملكا من الملائكة مر برجل قائم على باب دار، فقال له الملك: يا عبد الله، ما يقيمك على باب هذه الدار؟ قال: أخ لي فيها، أردت أن اسلم عليه. فقال الملك: هل بينك وبينه رحم ماسة، أو نزعتك إليه حاجة؟ قال: فقال: لا، ما بيني وبينه قرابة، ولا نزعتني إليه حاجة إلا أخوة الاسلام وحرمته، وأنا أتعاهده واسلم عليه في الله رب العالمين. فقال الملك: إني رسول الله إليك، وهو يقرئك السلام ويقول: إنما إياي أردت، ولي تعاهدت، وقد أوجبت لك الجنة، واعفيتك من غضبي، وأجرتك من النار (4).

My father (ra) narrated to us. He said: Sa`d b. `Abdullah narrated to me from Ahmad b. Muhammad from al-Hasan b. Mahbub from Abi Jamila from Jabir from Abi Ja`far al-Baqir (as). He said: An angel from the angels passed by a man standing at the door to a house. So, the angel said to him: “O servant of Allah! What brought you to the door of this house?” He said: “I have a brother in it, and I want to greet him.” So, the angel said: “Is he a part of your immediate family, or do you need something from him?” He said: So, he said: “No, we are not related, nor do I need anything from him – only the brotherhood of Islam and his sanctity [as a believer]. I [only wish to] pledge myself to him and greet him in [the name of] Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.” So, the angel said: “I am a messenger of Allah to you. He recites the salaam to you and says: ‘It is only I that you wanted [to greet], and I that you wanted to pledge to, so I have made Paradise obligatory for you, and I have relieved you from My anger, and I have delivered you from the Fire.’”

10 - حدثنا أحمد بن هارون الفامي (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا محمد بن  عبد الله بن جعفر الحميري، قال: حدثني أبي، عن هارون بن مسلم، عن مسعدة بن صدقة، عن الصادق جعفر بن محمد، عن أبيه، عن آبائه (عليهم السلام): أن رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله) قال: إن الله تبارك وتعالى إذا رأى أهل قرية قد أسرفوا في المعاصي وفيها ثلاثة نفر من المؤمنين ناداهم جل جلاله وتقدست أسماؤه: يا أهل معصيتي، لولا من فيكم من المؤمنين المتحابين بجلالي، العامرين بصلاتهم أرضي ومساجدي، والمستغفرين بالاسحار خوفا مني، لانزلت بكم عذابي ثم لا أبالي (1).

Ahmad b. Harun al-Fami (ra) narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. `Abdullah b. Ja`far al-Himyari narrated to us. He said: My father narrated to me from Harun b. Muslim from Mas`ada b. Sadaqa from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad from his father from his forefathers (as). The Messenger of Allah (s) said: When Allah saw the people of a village commit an excessive number of sins, it had three believers in it. He called to them: “O people of disobedience to Me! Were it not for the believers among you, who love by My majesty, establish prayer in My land and in My mosques, and repent at night out of fear of Me, I would have descended My chastisement upon you and not cared.”

11 - وبهذا الاسناد، قال: قال رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله): من ساءته سيئته وسرته حسنته فهو مؤمن (2).

By this isnad, he said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said: One who is distraught by his sin and joyed by his good deeds is a believer.

12 - حدثنا علي بن الحسين بن شاذويه المؤدب (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا محمد بن عبد الله بن جعفر بن جامع، عن أبيه، قال: حدثني يعقوب بن يزيد، عن محمد بن أبي عمير، عن أبان بن عثمان، عن أبان بن تغلب، عن أبي جعفر محمد بن علي الباقر، عن أبيه علي بن الحسين سيد العابدين، عن أبيه الحسين بن علي سيد الشهداء، عن أبيه علي بن أبي طالب سيد الاوصياء (عليهم السلام)، قال: قال رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله): من صلى علي ولم يصل على آلي، لم يجد ريح الجنة، وإن ريحها ليوجد من مسيرة خمسمائة عام (3).

عن أبيه علي بن الحسين سيد العابدين ع عن أبيه الحسين بن علي سيد الشهداء ع عن أبيه علي بن أبي طالب سيد الأوصياء ع قال قال

`Ali b. al-Husayn b. Shadhuwayh al-Mu’addab (ra) narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. `Abdullah b. Ja`far b. Jami` narrated to us from his father. He said: Ya`qub b. Yazid narrated to me from Muhammad b. Abi `Umayr from Aban b. `Uthman from Aban b. Taghlub from Abi Ja`far Muhammad b. `Ali al-Baqir (as) from his father `Ali b. al-Husayn the Master of Worshipers from his father al-Husayn b. `Ali the Master of Martyrs from his father `Ali b. Abi Talib the Master of Deputies (as). He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said: Whoever blesses me without blessing my family will not find the fragrance of Paradise. Its fragrance could be found at the travel distance of five hundred years away.

13 - حدثنا الحسين بن أحمد بن إدريس (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا أبي، عن محمد بن الحسين بن أبي الخطاب ويعقوب بن يزيد ومحمد بن أبي الصهبان، جميعا، عن محمد بن أبي عمير، عن أبان بن عثمان، عن الصادق جعفر بن محمد، عن أبيه، عن جده (عليهم السلام)، قال: إن أعرابيا أتى رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله)، فخرج إليه  في رداء ممشق (1)، فقال: يا محمد، لقد خرجت إلي كأنك فتى! فقال (صلى الله عليه وآله): نعم يا أعرابي، أنا الفتى بن الفتى أخو الفتى. فقال: يا محمد، أما الفتى فنعم، فكيف ابن الفتى، وأخو الفتى؟ فقال (صلى الله عليه وآله): أما سمعت الله عز وجل يقول: (قالوا سمعنا فتى يذكرهم يقال له إبراهيم) (2) فأنا ابن إبراهيم، وأما أخو الفتى فإن مناديا نادى من السماء يوم أحد: لا سيف إلا ذو الفقار، ولا فتى إلا علي، فعلي أخي وأنا أخوه (3).

عن أبيه ع عن جده ع قال إن أعرابيا أتى

Al-Husayn b. Ahmad b. Idris (rh) narrated to us. He said: My father narrated to us from Muhammad b. al-Husayn b. Abi’l Khattab and Ya`qub b. Yazid and Muhammad b. Abi’l Suhban altogether from Muhammad b. Abi `Umayr from Aban b. `Uthman from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad from his father from his grandfather (as). He said: A Bedouin came to the Messenger of Allah (s), so he came out to him in a cloak dyed in a reddish musk. So, he said: O Muhammad! You have come out to me as though you are a young man! So, he (s) said: Yes, Bedouin. I am a young man, son of a young man, brother of a young man. So, he said: O Muhammad! As for being a young man, then yes; but how are you the son of a young man and brother of a young man? So, he (s) said: Have you not heard the saying of Allah, “They said: we heard a young man named Ibrahim mentioned them” (21:60)? Surely, I am the son of Ibrahim. As for the brother of a young man: on the day of Uhud, a caller called from heaven: “There is no sword except dhulfiqar and there is no young man except `Ali.” `Ali is my brother, and I am his brother.

14 - حدثنا محمد بن موسى بن المتوكل (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا محمد بن أبي عبد الله الكوفي، عن موسى بن عمران النخعي، عن عمه الحسين بن يزيد، عن الحسن بن علي بن أبي حمزة، عن أبيه، عن يحيى بن أبي القاسم، عن الصادق جعفر ابن محمد، عن أبيه، عن جده (عليهم السلام)، قال: كتب رجل إلى الحسين بن علي (عليه السلام): يا سيدي، أخبرني بخير الدنيا والآخرة. فكتب إليه: بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم، أما بعد فإنه من طلب رضا الله بسخط الناس كفاه الله أمور الناس، ومن طلب رضا الناس بسخط الله وكله الله إلى الناس، والسلام (4).
