Yunus b. Thibyan said: Al-Sadiq narrated to me from his father from `Ali b. al-Husayn from his father from Amir al-Mu’minin . He said:

When Allah wanted to take the spirit of Ibrahim , He sent the Angel of Death down to him, who said: Peace be with you, Ibrahim. He said: And also with you, Angel of Death. Have you come to take me away, or have you come with news? He said: Rather, to take you away, Ibrahim, so answer. Ibrahim said: Have you ever seen a friend cause a friend to die? He said: So, the Angel of Death returned until he stood before Allah and said: My God! You have heard what Your Friend Ibrahim has said. So, Allah said: O Angel of Death! Go to him and say to him: “Have you ever seen a lover that would hate to meet his beloved? Surely, the lover loves to meet his beloved.”
