Muhammad b. Bukran al-Niqash narrated to us. He said: Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Sa`id al-Kufi the servant of Bani Hashim narrated to us. He said: Al-Mundhir b. Muhammad narrated to me. He said: My father narrated to me. He said: Muhammad b. al-Husayn b. `Ali b. al-Husayn b. `Ali b. Abi Talib narrated to me. He said: My father narrated to me from his father from al-Husayn b. `Ali from `Ali b. Abi Talib . He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said: Betake to the gardens of Paradise. They said: What are the gardens of Paradise? He said: A circle of remembrance (dhikr).

Muhammad b. Ibrahim b. Ishaq narrated to us. He said: Abu Sa`id al-Hasan b. `Ali al-`Adawi narrated to us. He said: Suhayb b. `Abbad b. Suhayb narrated to us. He said: My father narrated to us. He said: Al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad narrated to us from his forefathers from al-Husayn b. `Ali . The Messenger of Allah (s) made adjudications with an oath and one witness, and `Ali made adjudications like it in Iraq.

And by this isnad, from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad from his father from Jabir b. `Abdullah. He said: Gabriel came to the Prophet (s) and ordered him to take oaths with a witness.

Al-Husayn b. `Ali al-Sufi narrated to us. He said: Hamza b. al-Qasim narrated to us. He said: Ja`far b. Muhammad b. Malik narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. al-Hasan al-Wazzan narrated to us from Yahya b. Sa`id al-Ahwazi. He said: Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Abi Nasr narrated to us from Muhammad b. Hamza. He said: Al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad said: When you enter the restroom, then say when you remove your clothing: “O Allah! Remove hypocrisy from me and make me steadfast upon faith (Allahummanzi` `anni ribqatul nifaq wa tathbitni `alal iman).” When you enter the first chamber, then say: “O Allah! I seek refuge in You from the evil of my self, and I seek refuge in you from its harm (Allahumma inni `a’udhu bika min sharri nafsi wasta`eedh bika min adhah).” When you enter the second chamber, then say: “O Allah! Cleanse me of impurity and purify my body and my heart (Allahummadhhab `annil rijsil najis, wa tahhir jasadi wa qalbi)”, then take hot water and put it on your hips and pour it on your legs. If you can swallow some, then do so, for that purifies the bladder. Then, wait in the second chamber for a moment. When you enter the third chamber, then say: “We seek refuge in Allah from the Fire, and we ask Him for Paradise (na`udhu billahi min an-nar, wa nas’aluhul Jannah)”. Repeat it until the moment you exit the hot chamber. Beware of drinking cold water and bubbles in the restroom, for it upsets the digestive system. Do not pour cold water over yourself, for it weakens the body. Pour cold water on your feet when you leave, for that will remove disease from your body. When you get dressed, then say: “O Allah! Dress me in God-consciousness and spare me of harm (Allahummalbisnil taqwa wa jannibnil rida)” – if you do this, you will be safe from every disease.

`Ali b. Ahmad b. Musa narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. Abi `Abdillah al-Kufi narrated to us from Ja`far b. Muhammad al-Fazarani. He said: `Abbad b. Ya`qub narrated to us. He said: Mansur b. Abi Nuwayra informed us from Abi Bakr b. `Ayash from Qarn Abi Sulayman al-Dabi. He said: `Ali b. Abi Talib sent some law enforcement for Lubayd al-`Ataridi. They passed by him at the Samak Mosque (in Kufa). So, Na`im b. Dajaja al-Asadi went to him and resolved [the issue] between them and him. So, Amir al-Mu’minin sent for Na`im, and he was brought to him. He said: Amir al-Mu’minin raised something to strike him. So, Na`im said: Surely, being your companion is humbling, but being your opponent is disbelief. So, Amir al-Mu’minin said: Do you know this? He said: Yes. He said: Let him free.

Ahmad b. Muhammad b. al-Saqr al-Sa’igh narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. Ayyub narrated to us. He said: Ibrahim b. Musa informed us. He said: Hisham b. Yusuf informed us from `Abdullah b. Sulayman al-Nawfali from Muhammad b. `Ali b. `Abdullah b. `Abbas from his father from Ibn `Abbas. He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said: Love Allah when He nurtures you with His blessings. Love me for the sake of Allah’s love. Love my Ahl al-Bayt for the sake of my love.

Abu’l `Abbas Muhammad b. Ibrahim al-Mukatib narrated to us. He said: Abu Sa`id al-Hasan b. `Ali al-`Adawi narrated to us. He said: Al-Haytham b. `Abdullah narrated to us. He said: Al-Ma’mun narrated to us from his father al-Rashid from al-Mahdi from his father al-Mansur from his father from his grandfather from Ibn `Abbas. He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said to `Ali : You are my inheritor.

Al-Hasan b. Muhammad b. Sa`id al-Hashimi al-Kufi narrated to us. He said: Furat b. Ibrahim b. Furat al-Kufi narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. Muhammad b. al-Hasan al-Lu’lu’I narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. Nuh al-Jina’i narrated to us. He said: My father narratedto me from Muhammad b. Marwan from Abi Dawud from Mu`ath b. Salim from Bishr b. Ibrahim al-Ansari from Khalifa b. Sulayman al-Juhni from Abi Salama b. `Abd al-Rahman from Abi Hurayra. He said: The Prophet (s) went out to battle. When he returned to Medina, where `Ali had been put in charge of its people, he divided the spoils and gave two shares to `Ali b. Abi Talib . So, the people said: O Messenger of Allah! You have given `Ali b. Abi Talib two shares, even though he [stayed behind and] was put in charge of Medina! So, he said: O people! I plead you by Allah and by His Messenger: did you not see the knight that attacked the pagans to the right of the garrison? He returned to me and said: “O Muhammad! I have one share with you, and I have dedicated it to `Ali b. Abi Talib.” That was Gabriel. O people! I plead you by Allah and by His Messenger: did you not see the knight that attacked the pagans to the left of the garrison? He returned to me and said: “O Muhammad! I have one share with you, and I have dedicated it to `Ali b. Abi Talib.” That was Michael. So, by Allah, I have only given the share of Gabriel and Michael to `Ali. So, all the people recited a takbir.

Muhammad b. Ahmad al-Sinani narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. Ja`far al-Kufi al-Asadi narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. Isma`il al-Barmaki narrated to us from `Abdullah b. Ahmad from Abi Ahmad al-Azdi from `Abdullah b. Jundub from Abi `Umar al-`Ajami from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad from his father from his forefathers from `Ali b. Abi Talib . He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said: Allah said: I am Allah, there is no god but Me. I created the kings, and their hearts are in My hand. When a people obey Me, I make their kings’ hearts a mercy on them. When a people disobey me, I make their kings’ hearts a tribulation against them. Do not busy yourselves with insulting the kings – repent to Me, and I will make their hearts kind to you.

Ja`far b. `Ali al-Kufi narrated to us. He said: My grandfather al-Hasan b. `Ali narrated to me from his grandfather `Abdullah b. al-Mughira from Isma`il b. Abi Ziyad al-Sha`iri from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad from his father from his forefathers . He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said: There are two classes of my Nation which, if they are rectified, my Nation is rectified, and if they are corrupted, then my Nation is corrupted: the rulers and the reciters.

`Ali b. Ahmad b. `Abdullah b. Ahmad b. Abi `Abdillah al-Barqi narrated to us. He said: My father narrated to me from his grandfather Ahmad b. Abi `Abdillah from `Ali b. al-Hakam from Aban b. `Uthman from Bashar b. Yasar from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad . He said: If you want something of good, then do not delay in it, for if a worshiper fasts on a hot day wanting what is with Allah, Allah will free him from the Fire; and if he gives in charity wanting the face of Allah, Allah will free him from the Fire.

Ja`far b. Muhammad b. Masrur narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. `Abdullah b. Ja`far al-Himyari narrated to us from his father from Muhammad b. al-Husayn b. Abi’l Khattab from `Ali b. Asbat from his uncle Ya`qub b. Salim from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad : `Isa b. Maryam said to some of his companions: Do not do unto others what you would not like to be done unto you. If someone slaps your right cheek, then give him your left.

Al-Hasan b. Ibrahim b. Natana narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. Ibrahim narrated to us from his father from Muhammad b. Abi `Umayr from Abi Ziyad al-Nahdi from `Abdullah b. Bukayr. He said: Al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad said: For a believer, it is enough of a victory from Allah to see his enemy disobeying Allah.

And by this isnad. He said: Al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad said: There is not one who proceeds to Friday prayer except that Allah forbids his body from the Fire.

And he said: Whomever prays with them (the commoners) in the first row, it is as though he had prayed with the Messenger of Allah (s) in the first row.

Ahmad b. `Ali b. Ibrahim b. Hashim narrated to us. He said: My father narrated to us from his father Ibrahim b. Hashim from al-Husayn b. Yazid al-Nawfali from Isma`il b. Muslim al-Sukuni from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad from his father from his grandfather . He said: `Ali said: Over every truth there is a reality, and over every fact there is a light. So, take whatever agrees with the Book of Allah, and leave whatever contradicts the Book of Allah.

Ahmad b. Harun al-Fami narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. `Abdullah b. Ja`far b. Jami` al-Himyari narrated to us from his father from Ayyub b. Nuh from Muhammad b. Abi `Umayr from Aban al-Ahmar from Sa`d al-Kinani from al-Asbagh b. Nubata from `Abdullah b. `Abbas. He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said to `Ali : O `Ali! You are my vicegerent (khalifa) over my Nation in my lifetime and after my death. You are to me as Sheeth was to Adam, and as Sam was to Nuh, and as Isma`il was to Ibrahim, and as Yusha` was to Musa, and as Sham`un was to `Isa. O `Ali! you are my deputy, my inheritor, the one who will wash my body, the one who will bury me in my grave, the one who will represent my religion, and the one who will fulfill my traditions. O `Ali! You are the Commander of the Faithful, the Imam of the Muslims, the Leader of the shining believers, and the Chief of the Godfearing. O `Ali! You are the husband of the Mistress of Women, my daughter Fatima; you are the father of my two descendants al-Hasan and al-Husayn. O `Ali! Allah put the descendants of every prophet in his loins, and He put my descendants in your loins. O `Ali! Whoever loves you and aligns with you, I have loved him, and I have aligned with him, and whoever hates you and opposes you, I have hated him and opposed him; for you are from me and I am from you. O `Ali! Allah has purified us and chosen us, O `Ali! None of our ancestors from the descendants of Adam have ever committed adultery. So, none will love us except he whose birth was pure. O `Ali! Be gladdened by martyrdom, for you will be persecuted and killed after me. So, `Ali said: O Messenger of Allah! Will I be at peace with my religion? He said: You will be at peace with your religion, `Ali. Surely, you cannot be misguided, and you cannot falter. Had it not been for you, the party of Allah would not be known after me.
