Al-Hasan b. Muhammad b. Sa`id al-Hashimi al-Kufi narrated to us. He said: Furat b. Ibrahim b. Furat al-Kufi narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. Muhammad b. al-Hasan al-Lu’lu’I narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. Nuh al-Jina’i narrated to us. He said: My father narratedto me from Muhammad b. Marwan from Abi Dawud from Mu`ath b. Salim from Bishr b. Ibrahim al-Ansari from Khalifa b. Sulayman al-Juhni from Abi Salama b. `Abd al-Rahman from Abi Hurayra. He said:

The Prophet (s) went out to battle. When he returned to Medina, where `Ali had been put in charge of its people, he divided the spoils and gave two shares to `Ali b. Abi Talib . So, the people said: O Messenger of Allah! You have given `Ali b. Abi Talib two shares, even though he [stayed behind and] was put in charge of Medina! So, he said: O people! I plead you by Allah and by His Messenger: did you not see the knight that attacked the pagans to the right of the garrison? He returned to me and said: “O Muhammad! I have one share with you, and I have dedicated it to `Ali b. Abi Talib.” That was Gabriel. O people! I plead you by Allah and by His Messenger: did you not see the knight that attacked the pagans to the left of the garrison? He returned to me and said: “O Muhammad! I have one share with you, and I have dedicated it to `Ali b. Abi Talib.” That was Michael. So, by Allah, I have only given the share of Gabriel and Michael to `Ali. So, all the people recited a takbir.
