Al-Husayn b. `Ali al-Sufi narrated to us. He said: Hamza b. al-Qasim narrated to us. He said: Ja`far b. Muhammad b. Malik narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. al-Hasan al-Wazzan narrated to us from Yahya b. Sa`id al-Ahwazi. He said: Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Abi Nasr narrated to us from Muhammad b. Hamza. He said: Al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad said:

When you enter the restroom, then say when you remove your clothing: “O Allah! Remove hypocrisy from me and make me steadfast upon faith (Allahummanzi` `anni ribqatul nifaq wa tathbitni `alal iman).” When you enter the first chamber, then say: “O Allah! I seek refuge in You from the evil of my self, and I seek refuge in you from its harm (Allahumma inni `a’udhu bika min sharri nafsi wasta`eedh bika min adhah).” When you enter the second chamber, then say: “O Allah! Cleanse me of impurity and purify my body and my heart (Allahummadhhab `annil rijsil najis, wa tahhir jasadi wa qalbi)”, then take hot water and put it on your hips and pour it on your legs. If you can swallow some, then do so, for that purifies the bladder. Then, wait in the second chamber for a moment. When you enter the third chamber, then say: “We seek refuge in Allah from the Fire, and we ask Him for Paradise (na`udhu billahi min an-nar, wa nas’aluhul Jannah)”. Repeat it until the moment you exit the hot chamber. Beware of drinking cold water and bubbles in the restroom, for it upsets the digestive system. Do not pour cold water over yourself, for it weakens the body. Pour cold water on your feet when you leave, for that will remove disease from your body. When you get dressed, then say: “O Allah! Dress me in God-consciousness and spare me of harm (Allahummalbisnil taqwa wa jannibnil rida)” – if you do this, you will be safe from every disease.
