Muhammad ibn Ya‘qub from Ali ibn Ibrahim from his father from Ibn Mahbub from Ali ibn Riab from Abd al Saleh عليه السلام (Righteous Servant, Imam al-Kadhim عليه السلام), peace be upon him, who said: Imam al-Kadhim عليه السلام said: “Supplicate with this supplication in the Month of Ramadan at the beginning of the year,” And Imam عليه السلام mentioned: “Indeed, whoever supplicates with it, anticipating reward and with sincerity, no tribulation shall afflict him in that year, nor any calamity that harms his religion or his body, and Allah سبحانه وتعالى will protect him from the evil of whatever comes in that year; ‘O’ Allah سبحانه وتعالى, I ask You عز وجل by Your Name the one before which everything submits, And by Your mercy which ‘encompasses all things’ (Surah Al-A’raf 7:156), And by Your greatness before which all things humble themselves, And by Your power before which all things yield, And by Your might through which all things are subdued, And by Your knowledge which encompasses all things. O’ Light, O’ Holy, O’ First before all things, and O’ Last after all things, O’ Allah سبحانه وتعالى, O’ All-Beneficent, send blessings upon (Prophet) Muhammad صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم and the family of Muhammad صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم, And forgive me the sins which alter blessings, And forgive me the sins which bring down afflictions, And forgive me the sins which cut off hope, And forgive me the sins which empower the enemies, And forgive me the sins which repel supplication, And forgive me the sins for which calamities descend. And forgive me the sins that withhold the rain of the sky, And forgive me the sins that remove the covering, And forgive me the sins that hasten destruction, And forgive me the sins that lead to regret, And forgive me the sins that tear apart protections. And clothe me in Your impenetrable armor which none can reach, and grant me well-being from the evil of what I fear, by night and by day, in the coming year of mine. O’ Allah سبحانه وتعالى, Lord عز وجل of the seven heavens, And Lord عز وجل of the seven earths, and all that is within them and between them, And Lord عز وجل of the Mighty Throne, And Lord عز وجل of the Seven Oft-Repeated Verses and the Great Qur’an, And Lord عز وجل of Israfil, and Mika’il, and Jabra’il, And Lord عز وجل of (Prophet) Muhammad صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم, may Allah سبحانه وتعالى send blessings upon him and his family, the Master of the Messengers and the Seal of the Prophets. I ask You عز وجل by Your Own Self, and by what You عز وجل have named Yourself with, O’ Magnificent One, You عز وجل are the One who bestows greatness, Who repels every feared thing, Who grants every immense bounty, Who multiplies good deeds both small and great, and You عز وجل do whatever You عز وجل will. O’ All-Powerful, O’ Allah سبحانه وتعالى, O’ All-Beneficent, send blessings upon (Prophet) Muhammad صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم and the people of his household. And clothe me in this coming year of mine with Your protection, And brighten my face with Your light, And give me life with Your love, And let me attain Your satisfaction and noble generosity and immense gift of the best of what You عز وجل possess and of the best You عز وجل bestow upon any of Your creation and clothe me along with that in Your well-being. O’ You to whom every complaint is raised, O’ Witness of every whispered conversation, O’ Knower of every hidden matter, O’ Repeller of whatever affliction He عز وجل wills, O’ Most Generous in pardon! O’ You عز وجل who are excellent in overlooking faults, cause me to die upon the creed of Ibrahim عليه السلام and his pure nature, So cause me to die upon the religion of (Prophet) Muhammad صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم, may Allah سبحانه وتعالى send blessings upon him and his family, and His صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم tradition (sunnah), and upon the best kind of death. So cause me to die as one loyal to Your friends, and disassociated from Your enemies. O’ Allah سبحانه وتعالى, keep me away in this year from every deed, word, or action that would distance me from You عز وجل, And draw me near to every deed, word, or action that would bring me closer to You عز وجل in this year, O’ Most Merciful of the merciful! And prevent me from every deed, word, or action that may proceed from me, of which I fear the harm of its outcome and I fear Your displeasure upon it, for fear that You عز وجل would turn Your Noble Face away from me, and thereby I would deserve a loss in the portion I have with You عز وجل. O’ Most Kind, O’ Most Merciful, O’ Allah سبحانه وتعالى, place me in this coming year of mine under Your protection and care, In Your shelter and under Your guardianship, And enshroud me with the covering of Your well-being, And grant me Your generosity. Mighty is Your protection, and exalted is Your praise there is no God other than You عز وجل. O’ Allah سبحانه وتعالى, make me a follower of the righteous ones among Your past friends, and join me with them, and make me submissive to the one who spoke truthfully on Your behalf from among them. O’ Allah سبحانه وتعالى, I seek refuge in You عز وجل lest my sins, my wrongdoing, my excess against myself, my following of my desires, And my preoccupation with my lusts should encompass me and all of this becomes a barrier between me and Your mercy and satisfaction, so I become forgotten in Your sight and exposed to Your wrath and punishment. O’ Allah سبحانه وتعالى, grant me success in every righteous deed through which You عز وجل are pleased with me, and bring me near to You عز وجل in closeness. O’ Allah سبحانه وتعالى, just as You عز وجل sufficed Your Prophet Muhammad may Allah سبحانه وتعالى send blessings upon him and his family, from the terror of his enemy, And You عز وجل relieved His صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم distress, and removed His صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم grief, and fulfilled Your promise to him, and completed for him Your covenant. O’ Allah سبحانه وتعالى, by that, protect me from the terrors of this year, its calamities, its illnesses, its tribulations, its evils, its sorrows, the constriction of livelihood within it. And grant me, by Your mercy, the perfection of well-being along with the complete continuation of Your blessings upon me until the end of my term. I ask You عز وجل with the request of one who has done wrong, and committed injustice, and confesses (his guilt). And I ask You عز وجل to forgive me for the past sins which Your watchers have counted and which Your noble angels have recorded against me. And that You عز وجل protect me, O’ my God عز وجل, from sins in what remains of my life until the end of my term. O’ Allah سبحانه وتعالى, O’ All-Beneficent, send blessings upon (Prophet) Muhammad صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم and the family of Muhammad صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم, And grant me everything I have asked You عز وجل for and turned to You عز وجل in desire for, for indeed You عز وجل have commanded me to supplicate and promised to respond, O’ Most Merciful of the merciful.”
