Al-Amālī

1 - حدثنا الشيخ الجليل أبو جعفر محمد بن علي بن الحسين بن موسى ابن بابويه (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا أبي ومحمد بن الحسن بن أحمد بن الوليد وجعفر بن محمد بن مسرور (رضي الله عنهم)، قالوا: حدثنا الحسين بن محمد بن عامر، عن عمه عبد الله بن عامر، عن محمد بن أبي عمير، عن مرازم بن حكيم، ��ن أبي بصير، قال: قال أبو عبد الله الصادق (عليه السلام) لرجل من أصحابه: ألا أخبرك كيف كان سبب إسلام سلمان وأبي ذر (رحمة الله عليهما)؟ فقال الرجل وأخطأ: أما إسلام سلمان فقد علمت، فأخبرني كيف كان سبب إسلام أبي ذر. فقال أبو عبد الله الصادق (عليه السلام): إن أبا ذر (رحمة الله عليه) كان في بطن مر (1) يرعى غنما له، إذ جاء ذئب عن يمين غنمه، فهش أبو ذر بعصاه عليه، فجاء الذئب عن يسار غنمه، فهش أبو ذر بعصاه عليه، ثم قال له: والله ما رأيت ذئبا أخبث منك ولا شرا. فقال الذئب: شر - والله - مني أهل مكة، بعث الله إليهم نبيا فكذبوه وشتموه. فوقع كلام الذئب في أذن أبي ذر، فقال لاخته: هلمي مزودي وإداوتي (1) وعصاي، ثم خرج يركض حتى دخل مكة، فإذا هو بحلقة مجتمعين، فجلس إليهم، فإذا هم يشتمون النبي (صلى الله عليه وآله) يسبونه كما قال الذئب، فقال أبو ذر: هذا والله ما أخبرني به الذئب، فما زالت هذه حالتهم، حتى إذا كان آخر النهار وأقبل أبو طالب، قال بعضهم لبعض: كفوا فقد جاء عمه، فلما دنا منهم أكرموه وعظموه، فلم يزل أبو طالب متكلمهم وخطيبهم إلى أن تفرقوا. فلما قام أبو طالب تبعته، فالتفت إلي، فقال: ما حاجتك؟ فقلت: هذا النبي المبعوث فيكم. قال: وما حاجتك إليه؟ فقال له أبو ذر: أؤمن به وأصدقه، ولا يأمرني بشئ إلا أطعته. فقال أبو طالب: تشهد أن لا إله إلا الله، وأن محمدا رسول الله؟ قال: فقلت: نعم، أشهد أن لا إله إلا الله، وأن محمدا رسول الله. قال: فقال: إذا كان غدا في هذه الساعة فائتني. قال: فلما كان من الغد جاء أبو ذر، فإذا الحلقة مجتمعون، وإذا هم يسبون النبي (صلى الله عليه وآله) ويشتمونه كما قال الذئب، فجلس معهم حتى أقبل أبو طالب، فقال بعضهم لبعض: كفوا فقد جاء عمه، فكفوا، فجاء أبو طالب فجلس، فما زال متكلمهم وخطيبهم إلى أن قام. فلما قام تبعه أبو ذر، فالتفت إليه أبو طالب فقال: ما حاجتك؟ فقال: هذا النبي المبعوث فيكم. قال: وما حاجتك إليه؟ قال: فقال له: أؤمن به وأصدقه، ولا يأمرني بشئ إلا أطعته. فقال أبو طالب: تشهد أن لا إله إلا الله، وأن محمدا رسول الله؟ فقال: نعم، أشهد أن لا إله إلا الله، وأن محمدا رسول الله. قال: فرفعني إلى بيت فيه جعفر بن أبي طالب. قال: فلما دخلت سلمت، فرد علي السلام، ثم قال: ما حاجتك؟ قال: فقلت: هذا النبي المبعوث فيكم. قال: وما حاجتك إليه؟ قلت: أؤمن به وأصدقه، ولا يأمرني بشئ إلا أطعته. قال: تشهد أن لا إله إلا الله، وأن محمدا رسول الله؟ قال: قلت: أشهد أن لا إله إلا الله، وأن محمدا رسول الله. فرفعني إلى بيت فيه حمزة بن عبد المطلب، فلما دخلت سلمت، فرد علي السلام، ثم قال: ما حاجتك؟ فقلت: هذا النبي المبعوث فيكم. قال: وما حاجتك إليه؟ قلت: أو من به وأصدقه، ولا يأمرني بشئ إلا أطعته. قال: تشهد أن لا إله إلا الله، وأن محمدا رسول الله؟ قال: قلت: أشهد أن لا إله إلا الله، وأن محمدا رسول الله. قال: فرفعني إلى بيت فيه علي بن أبي طالب (عليه السلام)، فلما دخلت سلمت، فرد علي السلام، ثم قال: ما حاجتك؟ قلت: هذا النبي المبعوث فيكم. قال: وما حاجتك إليه؟ قلت: أو من به وأصدقه، ولا يأمرني بشئ إلا أطعته. قال: تشهد أن لا إله إلا الله، وأن محمدا رسول الله؟ قال: فقلت: أشهد أن لا إله إلا الله، وأن محمدا رسول الله. قال: فرفعني إلى بيت فيه رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله)، وإذا هو نور على (1) نور، فلما دخلت سلمت، فرد علي السلام، ثم قال: ما حاجتك؟ قلت: هذا النبي المبعوث فيكم. قال: وما حاجتك إليه؟ فقلت: أؤمن به وأصدقه، ولا يأمرني بشئ إلا أطعته. قال: تشهد أن لا إله إلا الله، وحده لا شريك له، وأن محمدا رسول الله؟ قلت: أشهد لا إله إلا الله، وحده لا شريك له، وأن محمدا رسول الله، فقال (صلى الله عليه وآله): أنا رسول الله. يا أبا ذر، انطلق إلى بلادك، فإنك تجد ابن عم لك قد مات، فخذ ماله، وكن بها حتى يظهر أمري. قال أبو ذر: فانطلقت إلى بلادي، فإذا ابن عم لي قد مات، وخلف مالا كثيرا في ذلك الوقت الذي أخبرني فيه رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله)، فاحتويت على ماله، وبقيت ببلادي حتى ظهر أمر رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله) فأتيته (2).

Abu Ja`far Muhammad b. `Ali b. al-Husayn b. Musa b. Babuwayh (ra) narrated to us. He said: My father and Muhammad b. al-Hasan b. Ahmad b. al-Walid and Ja`far b Muhammad b. Masrur (ra) narrated to us. They said: Al-Husayn b. Muhammad b. `Amer narrated to us from his uncle `Abdullah b. `Amer from Muhammad b. Abi `Umayr from Marazim b. Hakim from Abi Basir. He said: Abu `Abdillah al-Sadiq (as) said to a man from his companions: Shall I not inform you of the reason why Salman and Abu Dharr (rh) embraced Islam? So, the man said – and he made a mistake: As for the Islam of Salman, I know it, so inform me why Abu Dharr came to Islam. So, Abu `Abdillah al-Sadiq (as) said: Surely, Aba Dharr (rh) was in the middle of Murr (a juncture near Mecca) herding his sheep when a wolf came to the right of his sheep. So, Abu Dharr scared it away with his staff. Then, the wolf came to the left of his sheep. So, Abu Dharr scared it away with his staff. Then, Abu Dharr said to it: “By Allah, I have not seen a wolf that is more wretched and eviller than you.” So, the wolf said: “By Allah, the people of Mecca are eviller than me, for Allah sent them a prophet, yet they belied him and insulted him.” The words went to the ears of Abi Dharr, so he said to his sister: “Take my feeding bowl, my vessel, and my staff.” Then, he ran until he reached Mecca. He found a circle [of people] gathered, so he sat among them. They were insulting and abusing the Prophet (s), just as the wolf had said. So, Abu Dharr said: “This, by Allah, is what the wolf had informed me.” They continued doing this until the day had ended and Abu Talib proceeded. One of them said to the other: “Stop, for his uncle has come.” When he came closer to them, they honoured him. Abu Talib did not stop speaking to them until they dispersed. When Abu Talib stood, I followed him. Then, he turned to me and said: “What do you need?” So, I said: “This prophet has been raised among you.” He said: “What do you need from him?” So, Abu Dharr said to him: “I want to believe in him and accept him. He will not command me to do a thing except that I will obey him.” So, Abu Talib said: “Do you bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah?” He said: I said: “Yes. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.” Then, he said: “Tomorrow morning at such-and-such hour, come to me.” He said: The next morning, Abu Dharr came. He found the circle gathered, and he found them insulting and abusing the Prophet (s), just as the wolf had said. He sat with them until Abu Talib proceeded. One of them said to the other: “Stop, for his uncle has come.” So, they stopped, and Abu Talib came and sat down. He did not stop speaking to them until he stood. When he stood, Abu Dharr followed him. Then, Abu Talib turned to him and said: “What do you need?” So, he said: “This prophet that was raised among you.” He said: “What do you need from him?” He said: He said to him: “I want to believe in him and accept him. He will not command me to do a thing except that I will obey him.” So, Abu Talib said: “Do you bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah?” He said: I said: “Yes. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.” So, he took me to a house, within which was Ja`far b. Abi Talib. He said: When I entered, I delivered the salaam, and he returned the salaam. Then, he said: “What do you need?” He said: So, I said: “This prophet that was raised among you.” He said: “What do you need from him?” I said: “I want to believe in him and accept him. He will not command me to do a thing except that I will obey him.” He said: “Do you bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah?” I said: “I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.” So, he took me to a house, within which was Hamza b. `Abd al-Muttalib. When I entered, I delivered the salaam, and he returned the salaam. Then, he said: “What do you need?” So, I said: “This prophet that was raised among you.” He said: “What do you need from him?” I said: “I want to believe in him and accept him. He will not command me to do a thing except that I will obey him.” He said: “Do you bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah?” I said: “I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.” He said: So, he took me to a house, within which was `Ali b. Abi Talib. When I entered, I delivered the salaam, and he returned the salaam. Then, he said: “What do you need?” So, I said: “This prophet that was raised among you.” He said: “What do you need from him?” I said: “I want to believe in him and accept him. He will not command me to do a thing except that I will obey him.” He said: “Do you bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah?” I said: “I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.” He said: So, he took me to a house, within which was the Messenger of Allah (s). I found him to be light upon light. When I entered, I delivered the salaam, and he returned the salaam. Then, he said: “What do you need?” He said: So, I said: “This prophet that was raised among you.” He said: “What do you need from him?” I said: “I want to believe in him and accept him. He will not command me to do a thing except that I will obey him.” He said: “Do you bear witness that there is no god but Allah, one without partners, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah?” I said: “I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, one without partners, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.” So, he (s) said: “I am the Messenger of Allah. O Aba Dharr! Go to your city, for you will find that you have a cousin that has died. Take his wealth [as inheritance] and stay with it until my Order becomes public.” Abu Dharr said: I went to my city, and I found that my cousin had died. He left much wealth behind at that time that the Messenger of Allah (s) had informed me of. I held onto his wealth cautiously and I remained in my city until the Order of the Messenger of Allah (s) became public. Then, I went to him.

2 - حدثنا أبي (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا سعد بن عبد الله، عن يعقوب بن يزيد، عن محمد بن أبي عمير، عن هشام بن سالم، عن أبي عبد الله جعفر بن محمد الصادق (عليه السلام)، قال: شاهد الزور لا تزول قدماه حتى تجب له النار (1).

My father (rh) narrated to us. He said: Sa`d b. `Abdullah narrated to us from Ya`qub b. Yazid from Muhammad b. Abi `Umayr from Hisham b. Salim from Abi `Abdillah Ja`far b. Muhammad al-Sadiq (as). He said: The feet of a false witness will not go until they bring him to the Fire.

3 - حدثنا محمد بن الحسن بن أحمد بن الوليد (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا محمد بن الحسن الصفار، عن أحمد بن محمد بن عيسى، عن علي بن الحكم، عن أبان الاحمر، عن صالح بن ميثم، عن أبي جعفر الباقر (عليه السلام)، قال: ما من رجل يشهد شهادة زور على مال رجل مسلم ليقطعه إلا كتب الله عز وجل له مكانه صكا إلى النار (2).

Muhammad b. al-Hasan b. Ahmad b. al-Walid (rh) narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. al-Hasan al-Safar narrated to us from Ahmad b. Muhammad b. `Isa from `Ali b. al-Hakam from Aban al-Ahmar from Salih b. Maytham from Abi Ja`far al-Baqir (as). He said: There is not a man who bears false witness over the wealth of a Muslim man to cut him off except that Allah decrees a place for him in the Fire.

4 - حدثنا محمد بن موسى بن المتوكل (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا علي بن الحسين السعد بادي، عن أحمد بن محمد بن خالد، عن عبد الرحمن بن أبي نجران، عن أبي جميلة، عن جابر بن يزيد الجعفي، عن أبي جعفر محمد بن علي الباقر، عن آبائه (عليهم السلام)، قال: قال رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله): من كتم شهادة أو شهد بها ليهدر بها دم امرئ مسلم، أو ليزوي مال (3) امرئ مسلم، أتى يوم القيامة ولوجهه ظلمة مد البصر، وفي وجهه كدوح (4)، يعرفه الخلائق باسمه ونسبه، ومن شهد شهادة حق ليحيي بها حق امرئ مسلم، أتي يوم القيامة ولو جهه نور مد البصر، يعرفه الخلائق باسمه ونسبه. ثم قال أبو جعفر (عليه السلام): ألا ترى أن الله عز وجل يقول: (وأقيموا الشهادة لله) (5).

Muhammad b. Musa b. al-Mutawakkil (ra) narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. al-Husayn al-Sa`d Abadi narrated to us from Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Khalid from `Abd al-Rahman b. Abi Najran from Abi Jamila from Jabir b. Yazid al-Ju`fi from Abi Ja`far Muhammad b. `Ali al-Baqir from his forefathers (as). He said: The Messenger of Allah (s): Whoever conceals a testimony or gives a testimony to shed the blood of a Muslim person or gain the wealth of a Muslim person will come on the Day of Resurrection with a darkness in his face that extends as far as the eye could see. His face will have blemishes. The creatures will know him by name and lineage. Whoever bears a true testimony to enliven the right of a Muslim person, he will come on the Day of Resurrection with a light in his face that extends as far as the eye could see. The creatures will know him by name and lineage. Then, Abu Ja`far (as) said: Do you not see that Allah says, “And bear true testimony for Allah.” (65:2)

5 - حدثنا أحمد بن محمد بن يحيى العطار (رضي الله عنه) قال: حدثنا أبي، قال: حدثنا أحمد بن أبي عبد الله البرقي، عن أبيه، عن محمد بن سنان، عن أبي الجارود، عن رجل من عبد القيس، عن سلمان (رحمة الله عليه)، أنه مر على المقابر فقال: السلام عليكم يا أهل القبور من المؤمنين والمسلمين، يا أهل الديار، هل علمتم أن اليوم جمعة، فلما انصرف إلى منزله ونام وملكته عيناه، أتاه آت فقال: وعليك السلام يا أبا عبد الله، تكلمت فسعمنا، وسلمت فرددنا، وقلت: هل تعلمون أن اليوم جمعة، وقد علمنا ما تقول الطير في يوم الجمعة. قال: وما تقول الطير في يوم الجمعة؟ قال: تقول: قدوس قدوس، ربنا الرحمن الملك، ما يعرف عظمة ربنا من يحلف باسمه كاذبا (1).

Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Yahya al-`Attar (ra) narrated to us. He said: My father narrated to us. He said: Ahmad b. Abi `Abdillah al-Barqi narrated to us from his father from Muhammad b. Sinan from Abi’l Jarud from a man from `Abd al-Qays from Salman (rh). He passed by the graveyards and said: Peace be with you, O believing men and women of the graves. O people of the homes! Do you know that today is Friday? When he went to his house and slept, someone came to him [in his dream] and said: And also with you, O Aba `Abdillah. You spoke and we heard. You delivered your salaam and we returned it. You said: “Do you know that today is Friday?”, and we [even] know what the bird says on Friday. He said: So, what does the bird say on Friday? He said: It says: “Holy, holy. Our Lord is the Merciful, the King. Those who lie whilst swearing by His name have not recognized His greatness.”

6 - حدثنا الحسين بن أحمد بن إدريس (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا أبي، قال: حدثنا محمد بن الحسين بن أبي الخطاب، عن حماد بن عيسى، عن الحسين بن المختار، عن أبي عبد الله جعفر بن محمد الصادق (عليه السلام)، قال: إن الله تبارك وتعالى ليبغض المنفق سلعته بالايمان (2).

Al-Husayn b. Ahmad b. Idris (ra) narrated to us. He said: My father narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. al-Husayn b. Abi’l Khattab narrated to us from Hammad b. `Isa from al-Husayn b. al-Mukhtar from Abi `Abdillah Ja`far b. Muhammad al-Sadiq (as). He said: Surely, Allah hates one who swears a false oath to overprice his merchandise.

7 - وبهذا الاسناد، عن محمد بن الحسين بن أبي الخطاب، عن عثمان ابن عيسى، عن أبي أيوب الخزاز، عن أبي عبد الله الصادق (عليه السلام)، قال: من حلف بالله فليصدق، ومن لم يصدق فليس من الله في شئ، ومن حلف له بالله فليرض، ومن لم يرض فليس من الله في شئ (3).

By this isnad from Muhammad b. al-Husayn b. Abi’l Khattab from `Uthman b. `Isa from Abi Ayyub al-Khazzaz from Abi `Abdillah al-Sadiq (as). He said: Whoever swears by Allah must be truthful, and whoever is not truthful will have nothing with Allah. Whoever has someone swear by Allah must be pleased [with the outcome], and whoever is not pleased will have nothing with Allah.

8 - حدثنا علي بن أحمد بن عبد الله بن أحمد بن أبي عبد الله البرقي (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا أبي، عن جده أحمد بن أبي عبد الله، عن الحسن بن علي ابن فضال، عن عبد الله بن بكير، عن زراة بن أعين، قال: سمعت أبا جعفر محمد بن علي الباقر (عليه السلام) يقول: دخل رجل مسجدا فيه رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله) فخفف سجوده دون ما ينبغي ودون ما يكون من السجود، فقال رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله): نقر كنقر الغراب، لو مات على هذا مات على غير دين محمد (4).

`Ali b. Ahmad b. `Abdullah b. Ahmad b. Abi `Abdillah al-Barqi (rh) narrated to us. He said: My father narrated to us from his grandfather Ahmad b. Abi `Abdillah from al-Hasan b. `Ali b. Faddal from `Abdullah b. Bukayr from Zurara b. A`yan. He said: I heard Aba Ja`far Muhammad b. `Ali al-Baqir (as) say: A man entered a mosque wherein which was the Messenger of Allah (s) and lightened (hastened) his prostration in a way that was unbefitting for a prostration. So, the Messenger of Allah (s) said: He pecked like the pecking of a crow. If he dies upon this, then he dies upon a religion other than the religion of Muhammad.

9 - حدثنا محمد بن علي ماجيلويه (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثني عمي محمد ابن أبي القاسم، عن محمد بن علي الكوفي القرشي، عن الحسن بن علي بن فضال، عن سعيد بن غزوان، عن إسماعيل بن أبي زياد، عن الصادق جعفر بن محمد، عن أبيه، عن آبائه (عليهم السلام)، عن أمير المؤمنين علي بن أبي طالب (عليه السلام)، قال: قال رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله): لا يزال الشيطان هائبا لابن آدم ذعرا منه ما صلى الصلوات الخمس لوقتهن (1)، فإذا ضيعهن اجترأ عليه، فأدخله في العظائم (2).

Muhammad b. `Ali Majiluwayh (rh) narrated to us. He said: My uncle Muhammad b. Abi’l Qasim narrated to me from Muhammad b. `Ali al-Kufi al-Qurashi from al-Hasan b. `Ali b. Faddal from Sa`id b. Ghazwan from Isma`il b. Abi Ziyad from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad from his father from his forefathers (as) from Amir al-Mu’minin `Ali b. Abi Talib (as). He said: The Messenger of Allah (sw) said: Satan does not stop pacing in panic from a child of Adam who prays the five prayers in accordance with their timings. When he loses them, he emboldens and leads him into great sins.

10 - وبهذا الاسناد، عن الحسن بن علي بن فضال، عن أحمد بن الحسن الميثمي (3)، عن أبي بصير، قال: دخلت على أم حميدة أعزيها بأبي عبد الله الصادق (عليه السلام)، فبكت وبكيت لبكائها، ثم قالت: يا أبا محمد، لو رأيت أبا عبد الله (عليه السلام) عند الموت لرأيت عجبا، فتح عينيه ثم قال: اجمعوا لي كل من بيني وبينه قرابة. قالت: فلم نترك أحدا إلا جمعناه. قالت: فنظر إليهم ثم قال: إن شفاعتنا لا تنال مستخفا بالصلاة (4).

By this isnad from al-Hasan b. `Ali b. Faddal from Ahmad b. al-Hasan al-Maythami from Abi Basir. He said: I visited Umm Hamida to console her over [the death of] Aba `Abdillah al-Sadiq (as). She wept, and I wept due to her weeping. Then, she said: O Aba Muhammad! If you had seen Aba `Abdillah (as) at his death, you would have observed something astonishing. He opened his eyes and said: “Gather all of my relatives.” She said: We did not leave anyone except that they were gathered. She said: Then he looked at them and said: “Surely, our intercession does not reach one who takes prayers lightly.”

11 - حدثنا أبي (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا سعد بن عبد الله، قال: حدثنا محمد ابن الحسين بن أبي الخطاب، عن جعفر بن بشير، عن حجر بن زائدة، عن أبي عبد الله الصادق (عليه السلام)، قال: من ترك شعرة من الجنابة متعمدا، فهو في النار (5).

My father (rh) narrated to us. He said: Sa`d b. `Abdullah narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. al-Husayn b. Abi’l Khattab narrated to us from Ja`far b. Bashir from Hijr b. Za’ida from Abi `Abdillah al-Sadiq (as). He said: Whoever deliberately leaves off a single hair from [purification after] sexual impurity, then he is in the Fire.

12 - حدثنا علي بن عيسى (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا علي بن محمد ماجيلويه، قال: حدثنا أحمد بن محمد بن خالد البرقي، عن محمد بن حسان السلمي، عن محمد بن جعفر بن محمد، عن أبيه، عن آبائه (عليهم السلام)، قال: نزل جبرئيل (عليه السلام) على النبي (صلى الله عليه وآله) فقال: يا محمد، السلام يقرئك السلام ويقول: خلقت السماوات السبع وما فيهن، والارضين السبع ومن عليهن، وما خلقت موضعا أعظم من الركن والمقام، ولو أن عبدا دعاني هناك منذ خلقت السماوات والارضين ثم لقيني جاحدا لولاية علي لاكببته في سقر (1).

`Ali b. `Isa (ra) narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. Muhammad Majiluwayh narrated to us. He said: Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Khalid al-Barqi narrated to us from Muhammad b. Hassan al-Salami from Muhammad b. Ja`far b. Muhammad from his father from his forefathers (as). He said: Gabriel (as) came down to the Prophet (sw) and said: O Muhammad! Peace (God) recites the salaam to you and says: “I created the seven heavens and that which is in them, and the seven Earths and that which is upon them. I did not create a place that is greater than the rukn and the maqam. If a worshiper supplicates to Me there from when I created the heavens and the Earths, then meets Me as a rejector of the wilaya of `Ali, I will throw him into Hellfire.”

13 - حدثنا الحسين بن إبراهيم بن ناتانه (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا علي بن إبراهيم، عن أبيه إبراهيم بن هاشم، عن حماد بن عيسى، عن حريز بن عبد الله، عن زرارة بن أعين، عن أبي جعفر الباقر (عليه السلام)، قال: صلاة الجمعة فريضة، والاجتماع إليها فريضة مع الامام، فإن ترك رجل من غير علة ثلاث جمع فقد ترك ثلاث فرائض، ولا يدع ثلاث فرائض من غير علة إلا منافق (2). وقال (عليه السلام): من ترك الجماعة رغبة عنها وعن جماعة المسلمين من غير علة، فلا صلاة له (3).

Al-Husayn b. Ibrahim b. Natana (rh) narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. Ibrahim narrated to us from his father Ibrahim b. Hashim from Hammad b. `Isa from Hariz b. `Abdullah from Zurara b. A`yan from Abi Ja`far al-Baqir (as). He said: Friday prayer is an obligation and gathering to it with an Imam is an obligation. If a man abandons three Fridays without a reason, he will have abandoned three obligations, and none abandon three obligations without a reason except a hypocrite (munafiq). He (as) said: Whoever abandons the Friday prayer out of desire against it and against the Muslim congregation without a reason, then no prayer is [recorded] for him.

14 - حدثنا أحمد بن زياد بن جعفر الهمداني (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا علي ابن ابراهيم، عن أبيه إبراهيم بن هاشم، عن عبد الله بن ميمون، عن الصادق جعفر بن محمد، عن أبيه، عن آبائه (عليهم السلام) قال: اشترط رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله) على جيران المسجد شهود الصلاة، وقال: لينتهين أقوام لا يشهدون الصلوات، أو لآمرن مؤذنا يؤذن ثم ويقيم (4)، ثم آمر رجلا من أهل بيتي - وهو علي - فليحرقن على أقوام بيوتهم بحزم الحطب لانهم لا يأتون الصلاة (5).

Ahmad b. Ziyad b. Ja`far al-Hamadani (rh) narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. Ibrahim narrated to us from his father Ibrahim b. Hashim from `Abdullah b. Maymun from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad from his father from his forefathers (as). He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) legislated that the neighbours of the Mosque should attend [the congregational] prayer and said: To compensate for the people who do not attend the prayers, or to order a mu’adhin to call to prayer and make the iqama, then to order a man from my Ahl al-Bayt – and he is `Ali – to burn their homes with a bundle of firewood for not attending the prayer.

15 - حدثنا جعفر بن محمد بن مسرور (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا الحسين بن محمد بن عامر، عن عمه عبد الله بن عامر، عن محمد بن أبي عمير، عن عبد الله بن سنان، عن الصادق جعفر بن محمد (عليهما السلام)، قال: صلى رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله) الفجر، فلما انصرف أقبل بوجهه على أصحابه، فسأل عن أناس هل حضروا، فقالوا: لا، يا رسول الله. فقال: أغيب هم؟ قالوا: لا. فقال: أما إنه ليس من صلاة أشد على المنافقين من هذه الصلاة والعشاء (1).

Ja`far b. Muhammad b. Masrur (rh) narrated to us. He said: Al-Husayn b. Muhammad b. `Amer narrated to us from his uncle `Abdullah b. `Amer from Muhammad b. Abi `Umayr from `Abdullah b. Sinan from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad (as). He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) prayed Fajr. When he finished, he turned his face toward his companions, and asked if a group of people had attended. So, they said: No, O Messenger of Allah. So, he said: Are they away (travelling)? They said: No. So, he said: There is no prayer that is harder on the hypocrites than this prayer and `Isha'.

16 - حدثنا الحسين بن أحمد بن إدريس، قال: حدثنا أبي، عن أحمد ابن محمد بن عيسى، عن الحسن بن علي بن فضال، عن حماد بن عيسى، عن إبراهيم بن عمر اليماني، عن أبي عبد الله الصادق (عليه السلام)، قال: ما من مؤمن يخذل أخاه وهو يقدر على نصرته إلا خذله الله في الدنيا والآخرة (2).

Al-Husayn b. Ahmad b. Idris narrated to us. He said: My father narrated to us from Ahmad b. Muhammad b. `Isa from al-Hasan b. `Ali b. Faddal from Hammad b. `Isa from Ibrahim b. `Umar al-Yamani from Abi `Abdillah al-Sadiq (as). He said: There is no believer who lets his brother down when he is capable of supporting him except that Allah lets him down in this world and the Hereafter.

17 - حدثنا أبي (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا محمد بن أبي القاسم، عن محمد بن علي الكوفي، عن محمد بن سنان، عن المفضل بن عمر، عن أبي عبد الله الصادق (عليه السلام)، قال: من روى على مؤمن رواية يريد بها شينه وهدم مروءته ليسقط من أعين الناس، أخرجه الله عز وجل من ولايته إلى ولاية الشيطان (3).

My father (ra) narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. Abi'l Qasim narrated to us from Muhammad b. `Ali al-Kufi from Muhammad b. Sinan from al-Mufaddal b. `Umar from Abi `Abdillah al-Sadiq (as). He said: Whoever reports something about a believer intending for him to be harmed and for his reputation to be destroyed so that he may fall in the eyes of the people, Allah will take him out of His wilaya and put him in the wilaya of Satan.

18 - حدثنا أحمد بن زياد بن جعفر الهمداني (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا علي ابن إبراهيم بن هاشم، قال: حدثنا جعفر بن سلمة الاهوازي، قال: حدثنا إبراهيم بن محمد الثقفي، عن إبراهيم بن موسى ابن اخت الواقدي، قال: حدثنا أبو قتادة الحراني، عن عبد الرحمن بن العلاء الحضرمي، عن سعيد بن المسيب، عن ابن عباس، قال: إن رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله) كان جالسا ذات يوم وعنده علي وفاطمة والحسن والحسين (عليهم السلام)، فقال: اللهم إنك تعلم أن هؤلاء أهل بيتي وأكرم الناس علي فأحبب من أحبهم، وأبغض من أبغضهم، ووال من والاهم، وعاد من عاداهم، وأعن من أعانهم، واجعلهم مطهرين من كل رجس، معصومين من كل ذنب، وأيدهم بروح القدس. ثم قال (صلى الله عليه وآله): يا علي، أنت إمام امتي، وخليفتي عليها بعدي، وأنت قائد المؤمنين إلى الجنة، وكأني أنظر إلى ابنتي فاطمة قد أقبلت يوم القيامة على نجيب من نور، عن يمينها سبعون ألف ملك، وعن يسارها سبعون ألف ملك، وبين يديها سبعون ألف ملك، وخلفها سبعون ألف ملك، تقود مؤمنات أمتي إلى الجنة، فأيما امرأة صلت في اليوم والليلة خمس صلوات، وصامت شهر رمضان، وحجت بيت الله الحرام، وزكت مالها، وأطاعت زوجها، ووالت عليا بعدي، دخلت الجنة بشفاعة ابنتي فاطمة، وإنها لسيدة نساء العالمين. فقيل له: يا رسول الله، أهي سيدة نساء عالمها؟ فقال النبي (صلى الله عليه وآله): ذاك لمريم بنت عمران، فأما ابنتي فاطمة فهي سيدة نساء العالمين من الاولين والآخرين، وإنها لتقوم في محرابها فيسلم عليها سبعون ألف ملك من الملائكة المقربين، وينادونها بما نادت به الملائكة مريم فيقولون: يا فاطمة (إن الله اصطفاك وطهرك واصطفاك على نساء العالمين) (1). ثم التفت إلى علي (عليه السلام)، فقال: يا علي، إن فاطمة بضعة مني، وهي نور عيني، وثمرة فؤادي، يسوءني ما ساءها، ويسرني ما سرها، وإنها أول من يلحقني من أهل بيتي فأحسن إليها بعدي، وأما الحسن والحسين فهما ابناي وريحانتاي، وهما سيدا شباب أهل الجنة، فليكرما عليك كسمعك وبصرك. ثم رفع (صلى الله عليه وآله) يده إلى السماء، فقال: اللهم إني أشهدك أني محب لمن أحبهم، ومبغض لمن أبغضهم، وسلم لمن سالمهم، وحرب لمن حاربهم، وعدو لمن عاداهم، وولي لمن والاهم (2).

Ahmad b. Ziyad b. Ja`far al-Hamadani (rh) narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. Ibrahim b. Hashim narrated to us. He said: Ja`far b. Salama al-Ahwazi narrated to us. He said: Ibrahim b. Muhammad al-Thaqafi narrated to us from Ibrahim b. Musa the son of the sister of al-Waqidi. He said: Abu Qutada al-Harrani narrated to us from `Abd al-Rahman b. al-`Ala' al-Hadrami from Sa`id b. al-Musayyib from Ibn `Abbas. He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) was sitting one day, and with him was `Ali, Fatima, al-Hasan, and al-Husayn (as). So, he said: O Allah! You know that these are my Ahl al-Bayt, and the dearest of people to me, so love those who love them, hate those who hate them, align with those who align with them, oppose those who oppose them, and support those who support them. Purify them from every uncleanliness and protect them from every sin. Aid them with the Holy Spirit. Then, he (s) said: O `Ali! You are the Imam of my Nation and my vicegerent over them after me. You lead the believers to Paradise. It is as though I am looking at my daughter Fatima while she proceeds on the Day of Resurrection on a highborn [camel] of light. To her right will be seventy thousand angels, and to her left will be seventy thousand angels. She will lead the believing women of my Nation to Paradise. Whichever woman prays five times per day and night, fasts the month of Ramadan, makes pilgrimage to the Sacred House of Allah, gives the zakat of her wealth, obeys her husband, and aligns with `Ali after me will enter Paradise by the intercession of my daughter Fatima. She is the Mistress of the Women of the Worlds. So, it was said to him: O Messenger of Allah! Is she the Mistress of the Women of her world? So, the Prophet (s) said: That is Maryam bt. `Imran. As for my daughter Fatima, she is the Mistress of the Women of the Worlds, from the beginning to the end. She will stand from her prayer niche, and seventy thousand angels from the Angels of Proximity will deliver their salaam to her. They would call to her just as the angels called to Maryam; and they will say, “Surely, Allah has chosen you, purified you, and chosen you above the women of the worlds.” (3:42) Then, he turned to `Ali (as) and said: O `Ali! Surely, Fatima is a part of me. She is the light of my eye and the fruit of my heart. Whatever harms her harms me, and whatever gives her joy gives me joy. She is the first who will follow me from my Ahl al-Bayt, so be good to her after me. As for al-Hasan and al-Husayn, they are my two sons and my two sweet basils. They are the Masters of the Youth of Paradise. So, let them honour you just like your hearing and your sight. Then, he (s) raised his hand to the sky and said: O Allah! I bear witness to You that I love whoever loves them, hate whoever hates them; I am at peace with whoever is at peace with them, I am at war with whoever is at war with them, I oppose whoever opposes them, and I align with whoever aligns with them.
