al-Zukhruf (Ornaments)
ٱلْزُّخْرُف
43:17
وَإِذَا
بُشِّرَ
أَحَدُهُم
بِمَا
ضَرَبَ
لِلرَّحْمَنِ
مَثَلًا
ظَلَّ
وَجْهُهُ
مُسْوَدًّا
وَهُوَ
كَظِيمٌ
wa-ʾidhā bushshira ʾaḥaduhum bi-mā ḍaraba li-r-raḥmāni mathalan ẓalla wajhuhū muswaddan wa-huwa kaẓīmun
When one of them is given the glad news of the birth of a daughter, which they believe to be the only kind of child that the Beneficent God can have, his face blackens with anger.
