And from him, from Ali ibn Muhammad, with his chain of narration from one of the Imams عليه السلام, peace be upon them: Imam عليه السلام was asked regarding the saying of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, the Mighty and Majestic: “Indeed, the rising at night is strongest in impression and more upright in speech” (Surah Al Muzzammil 73:6) Imam عليه السلام said: “It is two rak’ahs after Maghrib in which you recite in the first rak’ah with the ‘Fatihat al-Kitab’ (Surah al-Fatihah) and ten (verses) from the beginning of Surah al-Baqarah, and the verse of submission (Ayat al-Sukhrah) from His عز وجل saying: ‘And your God is one God; there is no deity except Him, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate. Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the alternation of the night and the day’ up to His عز وجل saying: ‘Surely in that are signs for a people who use reason.’” (Surah Al Baqarah 2:163–164). (Imam عليه السلام then continued) “And (recite) fifteen times; ‘Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad’ (Surah Ikhlas), And in the second rak’ah, recite the ‘Fatihat al-Kitab’ (Surah al-Fatihah), and Ayat al-Kursi, and the end of Surah al-Baqarah from His عز وجل saying: ‘To Allah سبحانه وتعالى belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth’ (Surah Al Baqarah 2:284) until you complete the surah. And recite fifteen times; ‘Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad’ (Surah Ikhlas), Then supplicate after this with whatever you wish.” Imam عليه السلام said: “And whoever maintains it regularly, Allah سبحانه وتعالى will write for him with every prayer six hundred thousand pilgrimages (hajj).”
