Chapter on What Allah , the Almighty, Has Made Permissible and Prohibited in Marriage

Hadith #16

وَ رَوَى عَمْرُو بْنُ شِمْرٍ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ عَنِ اَلْقَابِلَةِ أَ يَحِلُّ لِلْمَوْلُودِ أَنْ يَنْكِحَهَا قَالَ "لاَ وَ لاَ اِبْنَتَهَا هِيَ كَبَعْضِ أُمَّهَاتِهِ".

Amr ibn Shimr reported from Jabir, who said: I asked Abu Jafar Imam Muhammad ibn Ali Al-Baqir , about the midwife, whether it is permissible for the child she delivered to marry her. Imam replied: "No, nor her daughter. She is like one of his mothers."
