عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ جَدِّهِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ رَاشِدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ قَالَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ( عليه السلام ) عَشَاءُ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ ( عليهم السلام ) بَعْدَ الْعَتَمَةِ فَلَا تَدَعُوهُ فَإِنَّ تَرْكَ الْعَشَاءِ خَرَابُ الْبَدَنِ .
1. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Qasim ibn Yahya from his grandfather al-Hassan ibn Rashid from Muhammad ibn Muslim who has said the following: “Abu ‘ Abd Allah , has said that ’Amir al-Mu’minin has said, ’Dinner of the Prophets is after al-’Atmah (the time of late evening Salat (prayer)); so you must not ignore dinner because ignoring it leads to neglecting the body.”’
عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ أَصْلُ خَرَابِ الْبَدَنِ تَرْكُ الْعَشَاءِ .
2. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Hisham ibn al-Hakam who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah , has said, ’The origin of the ruination of body is in ignoring dinner.’”
عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ جَمِيلِ بْنِ صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ تَرْكُ الْعَشَاءِ مَهْرَمَةٌ وَ يَنْبَغِي لِلرَّجُلِ إِذَا أَسَنَّ أَلَّا يَبِيتَ إِلَّا وَ جَوْفُهُ مُمْتَلِئٌ مِنَ الطَّعَامِ .
3. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Jamil ibn Salih who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah , has said, ’Neglecting dinner is senility, thus it is necessary for an aged man to go to sleep when his stomach is full of food.’”
مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جَنَاحٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ الرِّضَا ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ إِذَا اكْتَهَلَ الرَّجُلُ فَلَا يَدَعُ أَنْ يَأْكُلَ بِاللَّيْلِ شَيْئاً فَإِنَّهُ أَهْدَى لِلنَّوْمِ وَ أَطْيَبُ لِلنَّكْهَةِ .
4. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Sa‘id ibn Junah who has said the following: “Abu al-Hassan, al-Rida’ , has said, ‘When a man becomes old he must not neglect eating something during the night; it brings peaceful sleep and nicer breath.’”
عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ بُنْدَارَ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ الْجَعْفَرِيِّ قَالَ كَانَ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ ( عليه السلام ) لَا يَدَعُ الْعَشَاءَ وَ لَوْ بِكَعْكَةٍ وَ كَانَ يَقُولُ ( عليه السلام ) إِنَّهُ قُوَّةٌ لِلْجِسْمِ وَ قَالَ وَ لَا أَعْلَمُهُ إِلَّا قَالَ وَ صَالِحٌ لِلْجِمَاعِ .
5. Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Bandar has narrated from Ahmad ibn abu ‘Abd Allah from his father from Sulayman ibn Ja‘far al-Ja‘fariy who has said the following: “Abu al-Hassan , would not neglect dinner even if it was one cookie; and he (the Imam) would say, ‘Neglecting dinner is ruination of the body.’ He (the narrator) has said, ‘I am not certain perhaps he (the Imam) said that it is helpful in going to bed with one’s wife.’”
عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي نَصْرٍ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ صَبِيحٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) يَقُولُ لَا خَيْرَ لِمَنْ دَخَلَ فِي السِّنِّ أَنْ يَبِيتَ خَفِيفاً بَلْ يَبِيتُ مُمْتَلِياً خَيْرٌ لَهُ .
6. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn abu Nasr from Hammad ibn ‘Uthaman from al-Walid ibn Sabih who has said the following: “I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah , saying, ‘It is not good for one of old age to spend the night very light, instead it is better for him to pass the night with full stomach.’”
مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ أَبِي الْحَلَّالِ قَالَ تَعَشَّيْتُ مَعَ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) فَقَالَ الْعَشَاءُ بَعْدَ الْعِشَاءِ الْآخِرَةِ عَشَاءُ النَّبِيِّينَ ( عليهم السلام ) .
7. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Muhammad ibn Sinan from Ziyad ibn abu al-Hallal who has said the following: “I once took dinner with abu ‘Abd Allah , and he said, ‘Dinner after ‘ Isha ’ al- Akhirah (time of late evening Salat (prayer)) is like the dinner of the prophets, ‘Alayhim al-Salam.”’
عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ بُنْدَارَ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِي سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ الْجَبَلِيِّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَمِيلِ بْنِ دَرَّاجٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) يَقُولُ مَنْ تَرَكَ الْعَشَاءَ لَيْلَةَ السَّبْتِ وَ لَيْلَةَ الْأَحَدِ مُتَوَالِيَتَيْنِ ذَهَبَتْ عَنْهُ قُوَّتُهُ فَلَمْ تَرْجِعْ إِلَيْهِ أَرْبَعِينَ يَوْماً .
8. Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Bandar has narrated from Ahmad ibn abu ‘Abd Allah, from abu Sulayman, from Ahmad ibn al-Hassan al- Jabaliy (al-Halabiy), from his father, from Jamil ibn Darraj who has said the following: “I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah , saying, ‘If one does not take dinner one Saturday and Sunday nights consecutively, his strength will go away and will not come back until forty days later.’”
عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِهِ عَنْ ذَرِيحٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ الشَّيْخُ لَا يَدَعُ الْعَشَاءَ وَ لَوْ بِلُقْمَةٍ .
9. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from certain persons of his people from Dharih who has said the following: “Abu ‘ Abd Allah , has said, ‘An old man must not neglect dinner even if it is one morsel.”’
عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ صَالِحٍ عَنِ ابْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي عَلِيٍّ اللَّهَبِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ قَالَ مَا تَقُولُ أَطِبَّاؤُكُمْ فِي عَشَاءِ اللَّيْلِ قُلْتُ إِنَّهُمْ يَنْهَوْنَّا عَنْهُ قَالَ لَكِنِّي آمُرُكُمْ بِهِ .
10. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Bakr ibn Salih from ibn Faddal from ‘Abd Allah ibn Ibrahim from Ah ibn abu Ah al-Lahbiy who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah , once asked me, ‘What do your physicians say about dinner?’ I replied, ‘They prohibit taking dinner.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘I however, command you to take dinner.’”
مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ عَنِ الْحَجَّالِ عَنْ ثَعْلَبَةَ عَنْ رَجُلٍ ذَكَرَهُ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ طَعَامُ اللَّيْلِ أَنْفَعُ مِنْ طَعَامِ النَّهَارِ .
11. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Muhammad ibn al-Husayn from al-Hajj al from Tha’labah from a man whom he has mentioned who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah , has said, ‘Food during the night is more useful than food during the day.’”
عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ الْأَهْوَازِيِّينَ عَنِ الرِّضَا ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ قَالَ إِنَّ فِي الْجَسَدِ عِرْقاً يُقَالُ لَهُ الْعَشَاءُ فَإِنْ تَرَكَ الرَّجُلُ الْعَشَاءَ لَمْ يَزَلْ يَدْعُو عَلَيْهِ ذَلِكَ الْعِرْقُ إِلَى أَنْ يُصْبِحَ يَقُولُ أَجَاعَكَ اللَّهُ كَمَا أَجَعْتَنِي وَ أَظْمَأَكَ اللَّهُ كَمَا أَظْمَأْتَنِي فَلَا يَدَعَنَّ أَحَدُكُمُ الْعَشَاءَ وَ لَوْ بِلُقْمَةٍ مِنْ خُبْزٍ أَوْ شَرْبَةٍ مِنْ مَاءٍ .
12. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from certain persons of Ahwaz who has said the following: “Al-Rida’ , has said, ‘In the body there is a vein called ‘Isha’. If one does not take dinner, it continues praying against him until morning; and it says, ‘May Allah make you hungry just as you kept me hungry, and may Allah make you thirsty just as you kept me thirsty.’ No one of you must neglect taking dinner, even if it is one morsel of bread or a sip of water.’”
