1ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَجَّاجِ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) عَنِ الرَّجُلِ يُدْرِكُ الرَّكْعَةَ الثَّانِيَةَ مِنَ الصَّلاَةِ مَعَ الإِمَامِ وَهِيَ لَهُ الأولَى كَيْفَ يَصْنَعُ إِذَا جَلَسَ الإِمَامُ قَالَ يَتَجَافَى وَلاَ يَتَمَكَّنُ مِنَ الْقُعُودِ فَإِذَا كَانَتِ الثَّالِثَةُ لِلإِمَامِ وَهِيَ لَهُ الثَّانِيَةُ فَلْيَلْبَثْ قَلِيلاً إِذَا قَامَ الإِمَامُ بِقَدْرِ مَا يَتَشَهَّدُ ثُمَّ يَلْحَقُ بِالإِمَامِ قَالَ وَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ الَّذِي يُدْرِكُ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الأخِيرَتَيْنِ مِنَ الصَّلاَةِ كَيْفَ يَصْنَعُ بِالْقِرَاءَةِ فَقَالَ اقْرَأْ فِيهِمَا فَإِنَّهُمَا لَكَ الأولَيَانِ وَلاَ تَجْعَلْ أَوَّلَ صَلاَتِكَ آخِرَهَا.
1. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Muhammad ibn al-Husayn from Safwan from ‘Abd al- Rahman ibn al-Hajjaj who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah , about a man who joins the congregation in the second Rak‘at which is the first for him. What is he to do when the Imam sits down? He (the Imam) said, ‘He displays readiness to stand up (by raising his knees from the ground and placing his palms on the ground), does not allow himself to sit down. When it is the third Rak‘at for the Imam and the second for him, he waits a little while to say Tashahhud (testimonies of belief), then joins the Imam? He (the narrator) has said that he then asked him (the Imam) about one who joins a congregation in the two last Rak‘at of Salah (prayer) and what is one to do about recitation. He (the Imam) said, ‘Recite in them; they are the first two Rak‘at for you and do not make the beginning of your Salah (prayer) its end.’”
2ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ شَاذَانَ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ جَمِيلِ بْنِ دَرَّاجٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) إِذَا لَمْ تُدْرِكْ تَكْبِيرَةَ الرُّكُوعِ فَلاَ تَدْخُلْ فِي تِلْكَ الرَّكْعَةِ.
2. Muhammad ibn ’Isma‘il has narrated from al-Fadl ibn Shadhan from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Jamil ibn Darraj from Muhammad ibn Muslim who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah , has said, ‘If you cannot join in Takbir (Allah is great beyond description) for Ruku‘ (bowing down on one’s knees) do not enter (congregational Salah (prayer)) in that Rak‘at.’”
3ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي نَصْرٍ عَنِ الْمِيثَمِيِّ عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ قَالَ قُلْتُ لأَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ يَسْبِقُنِي الإِمَامُ بِالرَّكْعَةِ فَتَكُونُ لِي وَاحِدَةٌ وَلَهُ ثِنْتَانِ فَأَتَشَهَّدُ كُلَّمَا قَعَدْتُ فَقَالَ نَعَمْ فَإِنَّمَا التَّشَهُّدُ بَرَكَةٌ.
3. Ali ibn Muhammad and Muhammad ibn al-Hassan have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn abu Nasr from al-Mithamiy from Ishaq ibn Yazid who has said the following: “I once said to abu ‘Abd Allah , I pray to Allah to keep my soul in service for your cause, the Imam is one Rak‘at ahead of me which is the first for me and the second for him. Do I say Tashahhud (testimonies of belief) when I sit down? He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, Tashahhud (testimonies of belief) is but a blessing.’”
4ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ عَبْدِ الله بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ أَبَانِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ إِذَا سَبَقَكَ الإِمَامُ بِرَكْعَةٍ فَأَدْرَكْتَ الْقِرَاءَةَ الأخِيرَةَ قَرَأْتَ فِي الثَّالِثَةِ مِنْ صَلاَتِهِ وَهِيَ ثِنْتَانِ لَكَ وَإِنْ لَمْ تُدْرِكْ مَعَهُ إِلاَّ رَكْعَةً وَاحِدَةً قَرَأْتَ فِيهَا وَفِي الَّتِي تَلِيهَا وَإِنْ سَبَقَكَ بِرَكْعَةٍ جَلَسْتَ فِي الثَّانِيَةِ لَكَ وَالثَّالِثَةِ لَهُ حَتَّى تَعْتَدِلَ الصُّفُوفُ قِيَاماً قَالَ وَقَالَ إِذَا وَجَدْتَ الإِمَامَ سَاجِداً فَاثْبُتْ مَكَانَكَ حَتَّى يَرْفَعَ رَأْسَهُ وَإِنْ كَانَ قَاعِداً قَعَدْتَ وَإِنْ كَانَ قَائِماً قُمْتَ.
4. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from ‘Abd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Ali ibn al-Hakam from Aban ibn ‘Uthman from ‘Abd al- Rahman ibn abu ‘Abd Allah who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah , has said, ‘If the Imam is one Rak‘at ahead and you join in the last recitation, recite in the third Rak‘at for him which is the second for you. You must do so even if you cannot join him for more than one Rak‘at in which you recited as well as in the one that follows. If he is one Rak‘at ahead of you, sit down in the second Rak‘at for you and the third for him until the row stand up in line.’ He (the narrator) has said that he (the Imam) said, ‘If you find the Imam in Sajdah (prostration) remain where you are until he raises his head, and if he is sitting, you also sit down, and if he is standing, stand up.’”
5ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنِ الْحَلَبِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ إِذَا أَدْرَكْتَ الإِمَامَ قَدْ رَكَعَ فَكَبَّرْتَ وَرَكَعْتَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَرْفَعَ رَأْسَهُ فَقَدْ أَدْرَكْتَ الرَّكْعَةَ فَإِنْ رَفَعَ الإِمَامُ رَأْسَهُ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَرْكَعَ فَقَدْ فَاتَتْكَ الرَّكْعَةُ.
5. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Hammad ibn ‘Uthaman from al-Halabiy who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah , has said, ‘If you join the Imam for one Rak‘at, say Takbir (Allah is great beyond description). You must perform Ruku‘ (bowing down on one’s knees) before he raises his head (from Ruku‘). You have joined for one Rak‘at but if he raises his head before you are in Ruku‘, you have missed one Rak‘at.’”
6ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ النُّعْمَانِ عَنِ ابْنِ مُسْكَانَ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ خَالِدٍ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) فِي الرَّجُلِ إِذَا أَدْرَكَ الإِمَامَ وَهُوَ رَاكِعٌ فَكَبَّرَ وَهُوَ مُقِيمٌ صُلْبَهُ ثُمَّ رَكَعَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَرْفَعَ الإِمَامُ رَأْسَهُ فَقَدْ أَدْرَكَ.
6. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn al-Nu‘man from ibn Muskan from Sulayman ibn Khalid who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah , has said, ‘If a man finds the Imam in Ruku‘ (bowing down on one’s knees), says Takbir (Allah is great beyond description) while his back is straight and performs Ruku‘ before the Imam raises his head, has joined for one Rak‘at.’”
7ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ شَاذَانَ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) عَنِ الرَّجُلِ يَأْتِي الْمَسْجِدَ وَهُمْ فِي الصَّلاَةِ وَقَدْ سَبَقَهُ الإِمَامُ بِرَكْعَةٍ أَوْ أَكْثَرَ فَيَعْتَلُّ الإِمَامُ فَيَأْخُذُ بِيَدِهِ فَيَكُونُ أَدْنَى الْقَوْمِ إِلَيْهِ فَيُقَدِّمُهُ فَقَالَ يُتِمُّ صَلاَةَ الْقَوْمِ ثُمَّ يَجْلِسُ حَتَّى إِذَا فَرَغُوا مِنَ التَّشَهُّدِ أَوْمَأَ إِلَيْهِمْ بِيَدِهِ عَنِ الْيَمِينِ وَالشِّمَالِ فَكَانَ الَّذِي أَوْمَأَ إِلَيْهِمْ بِيَدِهِ التَّسْلِيمَ وَانْقِضَاءَ صَلاَتِهِمْ وَأَتَمَّ هُوَ مَا كَانَ فَاتَهُ أَوْ بَقِيَ عَلَيْهِ.
7. Muhammad ibn ’Isma‘il has narrated from al-Fadl ibn Shadhan from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Mu‘awiyah ibn ‘Ammar who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah , about a man who comes to Masjid when they are in Salah (prayer) and the Imam is one Rak‘at ahead or more. The Imam faces a problem and holds his hand when he is the closest to him and makes him to lead. He (the Imam) said, ‘He completes Salah (prayer) of the people, then sits down until they complete Tashahhud (testimonies of belief), he makes a gesture to his right and lifts and it (gesture) is considered saying Salam (the phrase of offering greeting of peace) and completion of their Salah (prayer) and he completes whatever he is yet to complete.’”
8ـ عَنْهُ عَنِ الْفَضْلِ وَعَلِيِّ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ جَمِيعاً عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ حَرِيزٍ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ قَالَ قُلْتُ لأَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) رَجُلٌ دَخَلَ مَعَ قَوْمٍ فِي صَلاَتِهِمْ وَهُوَ لاَ يَنْوِيهَا صَلاَةً فَأَحْدَثَ إِمَامُهُمْ فَأَخَذَ بِيَدِ ذَلِكَ الرَّجُلِ فَقَدَّمَهُ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ أَ يُجْزِئُهُمْ صَلاَتُهُمْ بِصَلاَتِهِ وَهُوَ لاَ يَنْوِيهَا صَلاَةً فَقَالَ لاَ يَنْبَغِي لِلرَّجُلِ أَنْ يَدْخُلَ مَعَ قَوْمٍ فِي صَلاَتِهِمْ وَهُوَ لاَ يَنْوِيهَا صَلاَةً بَلْ يَنْبَغِي لَهُ أَنْ يَنْوِيَهَا صَلاَةً فَإِنْ كَانَ قَدْ صَلَّى فَإِنَّ لَهُ صَلاَةً أُخْرَى وَ إِلاَّ فَلاَ يَدْخُلْ مَعَهُمْ قَدْ يُجْزِئُ عَنِ الْقَوْمِ صَلاَتُهُمْ وَإِنْ لَمْ يَنْوِهَا.
8. It is a narration from him (narrator of previous Hadith) by al-Fadl and Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father all from Hammad ibn ‘Isa from Hariz from Zurarah who has said the following: “I once asked abu Ja‘far , about a man who comes to a people during their Salah (prayer) and he is not intending it to be Salah (prayer). Their Imam faces invalidation of his Wudu’ and holds the hand of this man and makes him to lead. He performs Salah (prayer) with them. Is his Salah (prayer) sufficient to complete their Salah (prayer) while he has not intended it to be Salah (prayer)? He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not proper for a man to come to a people in their Salah (prayer) and not intend it to be Salah (prayer). It is proper for him to intend it to be Salah (prayer). If he has already performed Salah (prayer) he has another Salah (prayer). Otherwise, he must not come to them; their Salah (prayer) is sufficient for them even if he did not intend it to be Salah (prayer).”’
9ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ حَمَّادٍ عَنِ الْحَلَبِيِّ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) عَنْ رَجُلٍ أَمَّ قَوْماً فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ رَكْعَةً ثُمَّ مَاتَ قَالَ يُقَدِّمُونَ رَجُلاً آخَرَ وَيَعْتَدُّونَ بِالرَّكْعَةِ وَيَطْرَحُونَ الْمَيِّتَ خَلْفَهُمْ وَيَغْتَسِلُ مَنْ مَسَّهُ.
9. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Flammad from al-Halabiy who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah , about a man who leads Salah (prayer) with a people and performs one Rak‘at; then he dies. He (the Imam) said, ‘They make another man to lead and count it as one Rak‘at, leave the dead body behind them and then take Ghusl (bath) for touching a dead body.’”
10ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مَرْوَكِ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ النَّضْرِ عَنْ رَجُلٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ قَالَ أَيَّ شَيْءٍ يَقُولُ هَؤُلاَءِ فِي الرَّجُلِ الَّذِي يَفُوتُهُ مَعَ الإِمَامِ رَكْعَتَانِ قُلْتُ يَقُولُونَ يَقْرَأُ فِيهِمَا بِالْحَمْدِ وَسُورَةٍ فَقَالَ هَذَا يُقَلِّبُ صَلاَتَهُ يَجْعَلُ أَوَّلَهَا آخِرَهَا قُلْتُ كَيْفَ يَصْنَعُ قَالَ يَقْرَأُ فَاتِحَةَ الْكِتَابِ فِي كُلِّ رَكْعَةٍ.
10. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Marwak ibn ’Ubayd from Ahmad ibn al-Nadr from a man who has said the following: “Abu Ja‘far , once asked, ‘What do they say about a man who has missed two Rak‘at of the Imam’s Salah (prayer)?’ I replied, ‘They say that he is to recite al-Hamd and Surah (chapter) in them.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘He turns his Salah (prayer) backward by making its first the last.’ I then asked, ‘How is he to do it?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘He recites al-Fatihah al-Kitab in every Rak‘at.’”
11ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ النُّعْمَانِ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ أَبِي الْعَلاَءِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ قُلْتُ أَجِيءُ إِلَى الإِمَامِ وَقَدْ سَبَقَنِي بِرَكْعَةٍ فِي الْفَجْرِ فَلَمَّا سَلَّمَ وَقَعَ فِي قَلْبِي أَنِّي أَتْمَمْتُ فَلَمْ أَزَلْ ذَاكِراً لله حَتَّى طَلَعَتِ الشَّمْسُ فَلَمَّا طَلَعَتْ نَهَضْتُ فَذَكَرْتُ أَنَّ الإِمَامَ كَانَ سَبَقَنِي بِرَكْعَةٍ فَقَالَ إِنْ كُنْتَ فِي مَقَامِكَ فَأَتِمَّ بِرَكْعَةٍ وَإِنْ كُنْتَ قَدِ انْصَرَفْتَ فَعَلَيْكَ الإِعَادَةُ.
11. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ali al-Nu‘man from al-Flusayn ibn abu al-‘Ala’ who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah , ‘I come to the Imam when he is one Rak‘at ahead of me in the morning Salah (prayer). When he says Sal am (the phrase of offering greeting of peace) I, thinking to have completed, remain speaking of Allah until sunrise. At sunrise I stood up and remembered that the Imam was one Rak‘at ahead of me.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘If you are still in your place, complete it with one Rak‘at but if you have moved away, perform your Salah (prayer) again.’”
12ـ جَمَاعَةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ فَضَالَةَ بْنِ أَيُّوبَ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ سَمَاعَةَ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ قَالَ سَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ الرَّجُلِ صَلَّى مَعَ قَوْمٍ وَهُوَ يَرَى أَنَّهَا الأولَى وَكَانَتِ الْعَصْرَ قَالَ فَلْيَجْعَلْهَا الأولَى وَلْيُصَلِّ الْعَصْرَ. وَفِي حَدِيثٍ آخَرَ فَإِنْ عَلِمَ أَنَّهُمْ فِي صَلاَةِ الْعَصْرِ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ صَلَّى الأولَى فَلاَ يَدْخُلْ مَعَهُمْ.
12. A group of our people has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Husayn ibn Sa‘id from Fadalah ibn Ayyub from al-Husayn ibn ‘Uthman from Sama‘ah from abu Basir from who has said the following: “I once asked him (the Imam) , about a man who performs Salah (prayer) with a people and he thinks it is the first (al-Dhuhr) but it is al-‘Asr. He (the Imam) said, ‘He considers it the first and perform al-‘Asr.’” In another Hadith it is said, ‘If he knows that it is al-‘Asr and has not performed the one before, he is not to join them.”’
13ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ حَدِيدٍ عَنْ جَمِيلٍ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَحَدَهُمَا (صلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) عَنْ إِمَامٍ أَمَّ قَوْماً فَذَكَرَ أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَكُنْ عَلَى وُضُوءٍ فَانْصَرَفَ وَأَخَذَ بِيَدِ رَجُلٍ وَأَدْخَلَهُ فَقَدَّمَهُ وَلَمْ يَعْلَمِ الَّذِي قُدِّمَ مَا صَلَّى الْقَوْمُ قَالَ يُصَلِّي بِهِمْ فَإِنْ أَخْطَأَ سَبَّحَ الْقَوْمُ بِهِ وَبَنَى عَلَى صَلاَةِ الَّذِي كَانَ قَبْلَهُ.
13. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn Hadid from Jamil from who has said the following: “I once asked one of the two Imam, ‘Alayhim al-Salam, about the case of an Imam who leads a people and remembers that his Wudu’ is not valid. He moves away and holds the hand of another man to make him lead and he does not know how much is performed. He (the Imam) said, ‘He performs Salah (prayer) with them and if he makes a mistake, the people remind him by saying Tasbih (Allah is free of all defects) to complete Salah (prayer) as it was before him.’”
14ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الله بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ عَنْ غِيَاثِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ سُئِلَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) عَنِ الَّذِي يَرْفَعُ رَأْسَهُ قَبْلَ الإِمَامِ أَ يَعُودُ فَيَرْكَعُ إِذَا أَبْطَأَ الإِمَامُ أَنْ يَرْفَعَ رَأْسَهُ قَالَ لاَ.
14. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ’Abd Allah ibn al-Mughirah from Ghiyath ibn Ibrahim who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah , was asked about one who raises his head before the Imam. Is he to return to Ruku‘ (bowing down on one’s knees) if the Imam delays, or raise his head?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘No, he must not raise his head.’”
