- حدثنا الشيخ الفقيه أبو جعفر محمد بن علي بن الحسين بن موسى ابن بابويه القمي (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا محمد بن الحسن بن أحمد بن الوليد (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا الحسن بن متيل الدقاق، قال: حدثنا أحمد بن أبي عبد الله البرقي، عن أبيه، عن يونس بن عبد الرحمن، عن عبد الرحمن بن الحجاج، قال: سمعت الصادق (عليه السلام) يقول: من رأى أخاه على أمر يكرهه، فلم يرده عنه، وهو يقدر عليه، فقد خانه، ومن لم يجتنجب مصادقة الاحمق أوشك أن يتخلق بأخلاقه (1).

Abu Ja`far Muhammad b. `Ali b. al-Husayn b. Musa b. Babuwayh al-Qummi (ra) narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. al-Hasan b. Ahmad b. al-Walid (rh) narrated to us. He said: Al-Hasan b. Matil al-Daqaq narrated ot us. He said: Ahmad b. Abi `Abdillah al-Barqi narrated to us from his father from Yunus b. `Abd al-Rahman from `Abd al-Rahman b. al-Hajjaj. He said: I heard al-Sadiq (as) say: Whoever sees his brother doing something he hates and does not turn him away from it when he is able to, then he has betrayed him. Whoever does not avoid friendship with a fool, then I suspect that he is of his character.

2 - حدثنا أبي (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا محمد بن يحيى العطار، عن محمد ابن عبد الجبار، عن أبي أحمد الازدي، عن أبان بن عثمان، عن أبان بن تغلب، عن عكرمة، عن ابن عباس، قال: قال رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله): إن الله عز وجل آخى بيني وبين علي بن أبي طالب، وزوجه ابنتي فوق سبع سماواته، وأشهد على ذلك مقربي ملائكته، وجعله لي وصيا وخليفة، فعلي مني وأنا منه، محبه محبي، ومبغضه مبغضي، وإن الملائكة لتتقرب إلى الله بمحبته (2).

My father (rh) narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. Yahya al-`Attar narrated to us from Muhammad b. `Abd al-Jabbar from Abi Ahmad al-Azdi from Aban b. `Uthman from Aban b. Taghlub from `Ikrama from Ibn `Abbas. He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said: Surely, Allah established a brotherhood between me and `Ali b. Abi Talib and married him to my daughter above the seven heavens – and His Angels of Proximity bore witness to that. He made him a deputy and a vicegerent for me. So, `Ali is from me and I am from him. Those who love him love me, and those who hate him hate me. Surely, the angels gain Allah’s proximity by loving him.

Muhammad b. Musa b. al-Mutawakkil (rh) narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. Ibrahim narrated to us from Muhammad b. `Isa b. `Ubayd from Yunus b. `Abd al-Rahman from al-Hasan b. Ziyad from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad (as). He said: Surely, Allah wanted Islam to be your religion, so beautify its company with generosity and beautiful character.

4 - حدثنا جعفر بن محمد بن مسرور (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا الحسين بن محمد بن عامر، عن عمه عبد الله بن عامر، عن محمد بن سنان، عن طلحة بن زيد، عن الصادق جعفر بن محمد، عن أبيه، عن آبائه (عليهم السلام)، قال: قال رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله): كثرة المزاح تذهب بماء الوجه، وكثرة الضحك تمحو الايمان، وكثرة الكذب تذهب بالبهاء (2).

He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said: An abundance of jesting will recede the water in one’s face, and an abundance of laughing will erase one’s faith, and an abundance of lying will diminish one’s radiance.

5 - حدثنا محمد بن علي ماجيلويه (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا علي بن إبراهيم، عن أبيه إبراهيم بن هاشم، عن علي بن معبد، عن الحسين بن خالد، عن أبي الحسن علي بن موسى الرضا عن أبيه عن آبائه (عليهم السلام)، قال: قال رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله): من كان مسلما فلا يمكر ولا يخدع، فإني سمعت جبرئيل (عليه السلام) يقول: إن المكر والخديعة في النار (3).

He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said: Whoever is a Muslim should not scheme or deceive others, for surely, I heard Gabriel (as) say: “Scheming and deception are in the Fire.”

6 - ثم قال: (صلى الله عليه وآله): ليس منا من غش مسلما، وليس منا من خان مسلما (4).

Then, he (s) said: Surely, Gabriel, the Trustworthy Spirit, came down to me from the Lord of the Worlds and said: “O Muhammad! Betake to good character, for surely, poor character diminishes the good of this world and the Hereafter.” Verily, those of you who resemble me the most are those with the most beautiful character.”

8 - حدثنا الحسين بن إبراهيم بن ناتانه (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا علي بن إبراهيم، عن أبيه، عن محمد بن أبي عمير، عن هشام بن سالم، قال: قال الصادق جعفر بن محمد (عليهما السلام): من صلى صلاة مكتوبة ثم سبح في دبرها ثلاثين مرة، لم يبق على بدنه شئ من الذنوب إلا تناثر (1).

Al-Husayn b. Ibrahim b. Natana (rh) narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. Ibrahim narrated to us from his father from Muhammad b. Abi `Umayr from Hisham b. Salim. He said: Al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad (as) said: Whoever prays a prescribed prayer, then glorifies [Allah] thirty times after it, no sin will remain on his body except that he will have shed it.

9 - حدثنا جعفر بن الحسين، قال: حدثنا محمد بن جعفر، عن أحمد بن أبي عبد الله البرقي، عن الحسن بن محبوب، عن هشام بن سالم، عن أبي عبيدة الحذاء، عن أبي عبد الله (عليه السلام)، قال: أتي النبي (صلى الله عليه وآله) بأسارى فأمر بقتلهم خلا رجل من بينهم، فقال الرجل: بأبي أنت وأمي - يا محمد - كيف أطلقت عني من بينهم؟ فقال: أخبرني جبرئيل عن الله عز وجل أن فيك خمس خصال يحبها الله عز وجل ورسوله: الغيره الشديدة على حرمك، والسخاء، وحسن الخلق، وصدق اللسان، والشجاعة، فلما سمعها الرجل أسلم وحسن إسلامه، وقاتل مع رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله) قتالا شديدا حتى استشهد (2).

...قال ابن عباس فقال

Ja`far b. al-Husayn narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. Ja`far narrated to us from Ahmad b. Abi `Abdillah al-Barqi from al-Hasan b. Mahbub from Hisham b. Salim from Abi `Ubayda al-Hadha’ from Abi `Abdillah (as). He said: Captives were brought to the Prophet (s), and he ordered that they be killed, except for one man among them. So, the man said: May my mother and my father be your sacrifice, Muhammad. Why did you exempt me from them? So, he said: Gabriel informed me from Allah that you have five characteristics that Allah and His Messenger love: (1) jealousy over your women, (2) generosity, (3) beautiful character, (4) a truthful tongue, and (5) courage. When the man heard this, he converted to Islam and beautified his Islam. He fought intensely alongside the Messenger of Allah (s) until he was martyred.

10 - حدثنا محمد بن إبراهيم بن إسحاق (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا عبد العزيز ابن يحيى الجلودي، قال: [ حدثنا محمد بن عطية، قال: حدثنا عبد الله بن عمرو بن سعيد البصري، قال: حدثنا ] (3) هشام بن جعفر، عن حماد، عن عبد الله بن سليمان (4)، وكان قارئا للكتب، قال: قرأت في الانجيل: يا عيسى، جد في أمري ولا  تهزل، واسمع وأطع، يا بن الطاهرة الطهر البكر البتول، أتيت (1) من غير فحل، أنا خلقتك آية للعالمين، فإياي فاعبد، وعلي فتوكل، خذ الكتاب بقوة، فسر لاهل سوريا السريانية، وبلغ من بين يديك أني أنا الله الدائم الذي لا أزول، صدقوا النبي (صلى الله عليه وآله) الامي صاحب الجمل والمدرعة (2) والتاج - وهي العمامة - والنعلين والهراوة - وهي القضيب - الانجل العينين (3)، الصلت الجبين (4)، الواضح (5) الخدين، الاقنى الانف، المفجل (6) الثنايا، كأن عنقه إبريق فضة، كأن الذهب يجري في تراقيه، له شعرات من صدره إلى سرته، ليس على بطنه ولا على صدره شعر، أسمر اللون، دقيق المسربة (7)، شثن (8) الكف والقدم، إذا التفت التفت جميعا، وإذا مشى كأنما يتقلع (9) من الصخرة وينحدر من صبب (10)، وإذا جاء مع القوم بذهم (11)، عرقه في وجهه كاللؤلؤ، وريح المسك ينفح منه، لم ير قبله مثله ولا بعده، طيب الريح، نكاح النساء ذو النسل القليل، إنما نسله من مباركة لها بيت في الجنة، لا صخب فيه ولا نصب، يكفلها في آخر الزمان كما كفل زكريا أمك، لها فرخان مستشهدان، كلامه القرآن، ودينه الاسلام، وأنا السلام، طوبى لمن أدرك زمانه، وشهد أيامه، وسمع كلامه.  قال عيسى (عليه السلام): يا رب، وما طوبى؟ قال: شجرة في الجنة، أنا غرستها، تظل الجنان، أصلها من رضوان، ماؤها من تسنيم، برده برد الكافور، وطعمه طعم الزنجبيل، من يشرب من تلك العين شربة لا يظلما بعدها أبدا. فقال عيسى (عليه السلام): اللهم اسقني منها. قال: حرام - يا عيسى - على البشر أن يشربوا منها حتى يشرب ذلك النبي، وحرام على الامم أن يشربوا منها حتى تشرب أمة ذلك النبي، أرفعك إلي ثم أهبطك في آخر الزمان لترى من أمة ذلك النبي العجائب، ولتعينهم على العين الدجال، أهبطك في وقت الصلاة لتصلي معهم إنهم أمة مرحومة (1).

قال يروى أن رجلا جاء إلى

علي بن أبي طالب عليه السلام

Muhammad b. Ibrahim b. Ishaq (rh) narrated to us. He said: `Abd al-`Aziz b. Yahya al-Juludi narrated to us. He said: [Muhammad b. `Atiyya narrated to us. He said: `Abdullah b. `Amr b. Sa`id al-Basri narrated to us. He said:] Hisham b. Ja`far narrated to us from Hammad from `Abdullah b. Sulayman, who used to read the Scripture. He said: I read in the Gospel: O `Isa! Renew My Order and do not languish. Listen and obey, O son of the pure, chaste virgin. You are not a fool. I made you a sign for the worlds, so worship Me and rely on Me. Take the scripture with strength, go to the people of Syria and Assyria, and inform those before you that I am the eternal God who will never recede, and to believe in the Prophet of the Mother Town, the owner of the camel, the armour, the crown – which is the turban – the two sandals, and the rod – which is the staff. He will have wide eyes, a broad forehead, prominent cheeks, a thin and curved nose, and white teeth. His neck will be like a silver jar, his collarbones will be like gold. He will have hair from his chest to his navel, but not on his stomach or his [entire] chest. He will be tanned in colour, with light hair from his chest to his stomach. His hands and feet will be large. When he turns, he will turn with his whole body. When he walks, it is as though he is stepping from stone to stone (he does not drag his feet). When he walks with the people, he overcomes them [in speed]. The sweat on his face is like pearls, and his scent is like the fragrance of musk. No one like him was ever seen before him nor after him. His scent will be pleasant. He will marry women, but he will have few children, and his child (Fatima) will be blessed, and she will have a house in Paradise. He will support her in the end times just as Zakariyya supported your mother. She will give birth to two martyrs. His words will be the Quran, and his religion will be Islam, and I am Peace. So, Tuba is for he who lives in his time, sees his days, and listens to his words.  So, `Isa (as) said: O Lord! What is Tuba? He said: A tree in Paradise that I planted with My two hands in the shade of Paradise. Its root is in being pleased [with My will], its water is from tasnim, its breeze is from camphor, and its taste is like ginger. Whomever drinks from its river will never thirst again. So, `Isa (as) said: O Allah! Allow me to drink from it. He said: "O `Isa! It is forbidden for the humans to drink from it until that Prophet drinks from it. It is forbidden for the nations to drink from it until the nation of that Prophet drinks from it. O `Isa! I will raise you to Me, then I will send you back down in the End Times so that you may see the marvelous nation of that Prophet, and to save them from the cursed Dajjal. I will send you down during the time of prayer so that you may pray with them. Surely, they are a Nation that has been given mercy.

11 - حدثنا محمد بن إبراهيم بن إسحاق (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا أبو بكر أحمد بن دبيس بن عبد الله المفسر، قال: حدثنا أحمد بن محمد بن أبي البهلول المروزي، قال: حدثنا الفضل بن هرمز ديار الطبري، قال: حدثنا أبو علي الحسن بن شجاع البلخي، قال: حدثنا سليمان بن الربيع، قال: سمعت كادح بن أحمد يقول: سمعت مقاتل بن سليمان يقول: سمعت الضحاك، قال: سأل رجل ابن عباس: ما الذي أخفى الله تبارك وتعالى من الجنة، وقد أخبر عن أزواجها، وعن خدمها، وطيبها وشرابها وثمرها، وما ذكر الله تبارك وتعالى من أمرها وأنزله في كتابه؟ فقال ابن عباس: هي جنة عدن، خلقها الله يوم الجمعة، ثم أطبق عليها، فلم يرها مخلوق من أهل السماوات والارض حتى يدخلها أهلها، قال لها عز وجل ثلاث مرات: تكلمي. فقالت: طوبى للمؤمنين. قال جل جلاله: طوبى للمؤمنين، وطوبى لك. قال مقاتل: قال الضحاك: قال ابن عباس: فقال النبي (صلى الله عليه وآله) إلا من كان فيه ست خصال فإنه منهم: من صدق حديثه، وأنجز وعده، وأدى أمانته، وبر والديه، ووصل رحمه، واستغفر من ذنبه، فهو مؤمن (2).
