My father narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. Musa al-Kamnadani narrated to us. He said: Ahmad b. Muhammad b. `Isa narrated to us from `Ali b. al-Husayn from Muhammad b. `Ubayd from Ubayd b. Harun . He said: Abu Yazid narrated to us from Hussayn from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad from his father from his forefathers . He said: Amir al-Mu'minin said: In the month of Ramadan, betake to much repentance and supplication. As for supplication, it will repel calamity from you; and as for repentance, it will remove sins from you.

Muhammad b. al-Hasan b. Ahmad b. al-Walid narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. al-Hasan al-Saffar narrated to us from Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Isa from al-Hasan b. Musa from Ghiyath b. Ibrahim from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad from is father from his forefathers . He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said: Surely, Allah hated for me to have six characteristics, and He hated for my deputies from my descendants and their followers after me to have them as well: (1) trifling whilst in prayer, (2) lewd actions whilst fasting, (3) bragging after giving charity, (4) coming to the mosques in a state of janaba, (5) browsing the houses [of people without their permission], and (6) smiling in front of graves.

Ahmad b. `Ali b. Ibrahim narrated to us. He said: My father narrated to us from his father Ibrahim b. Hashim from `Abdullah b. al-Mughira from `Amr al-Shami from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad . He said: “Surely, the number of months with Allah is twelve months in the Book of Allah on the day that He created the heavens and the Earth.” (9:36) The best of the months is the month of Allah, which is the month of Ramadan. The heart of the month of Ramadan is the Night of Power. The Quran came down in the first night of the month of Ramadan. So, welcome the month with the Quran.

Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Yahya al-`Attar narrated to us. He said: Sa`d b. `Abdullah narrated to us from al-Qasim b. Muhammad al-Isfahani from Sulayman b. Dawud al-Munqari from Hafs b. Ghiyath. He said: I said to al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad : Inform me about the saying of Allah, “The month of Ramadan, in which the Quran was revealed” (2:185) – how is it that the Quran was revealed in the month of Ramadan when the Quran was revealed over a period of twenty years from beginning to end? So, he said: The Quran came down altogether in the month of Ramadan to the Bayt al-Ma`mur. Then, it was revealed from the Bayt al-Ma`mur over a period of twenty years.

Muhammad b. Ibrahim b. Ishaq narrated to us. He said: `Abd al-`Aziz b. Yahya narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. Zakariyya narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. `Ammara narrated to us from his father from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad from his father from his forefathers . He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said: A part of me will be buried in Khurasan. A believer will not visit it except that Allah will make Paradise mandatory for him and forbid his body from the Fire.

Muhammad b. Ibrahim narrated to us. He said: Ahmad b. Muhammad al-Hamadani narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. al-Hasan b. `Ali b. Faddal informed us from his father from Abi’l Hasan `Ali b. Musa al-Rida . He said: Surely, in Khurasan, there is a piece of land that will be frequented by angels at a point in time. A crowd will descend from heaven as another crowd ascends back; this will continue until the Trumpet is blown. So, it was said to him: O son of the Messenger of Allah! Which piece of land is this? He said: It is in the land of Tus. It is, by Allah, a garden from the gardens of Paradise. Whoever visits me in that piece of land, it will be as though he visited the Messenger of Allah (s). Allah will record the deeds of one thousand virtuous Hajj and one thousand accepted `Umra for him, and I and my forefathers will be his intercessors on the Day of Resurrection.

Muhammad b. Musa b. al-Mutawakkil narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. Ibrahim narrated to us from his father from Abi’l Salt `Abd al-Salam b. Salih al-Harawi. He said: I heard al-Rida say: By Allah, there is not one from us except that he is killed and martyred. So, it was said to him: Who will kill you, O son of the Messenger of Allah? He said: The evilest of Allah’s creation in my era. He will kill me with poison, then he will bury me in an isolated abode and a strange country. Surely, whoever visits me in my isolation, Allah will give him the reward of one hundred thousand martyrs, one hundred thousand saints, one hundred thousand pilgrims of Hajj and `Umra, and one hundred thousand holy warriors. He will be resurrected in our congregation, and he will be our comrade in the exalted ranks of Paradise.

Muhammad b. al-Hasan narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. al-Hasan al-Saffar narrated to us from Ahmad b. Muhammad b. `Isa from Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Abi Nasr al-Bazanti He said: I read in a letter of Abi’l Hasan al-Rida : Announce to my Shi`a that a visitation of me is considered by Allah to be equal to one thousand Hajj. He said: I said to Abi Ja`far [al-Jawad] : One thousand Hajj? He said: Yes, by Allah. One million Hajj for one who visits him recognizing his right.

Muhammad b. Ibrahim narrated to us. He said: Ahmad b. Muhammad al-Hamadani informed us from `Ali b. al-Hasan b. `Ali b. Faddal from his father from Abi'l Hasan `Ali b. Musa al-Rida . A man from the people of Khurasan said to him: O son of the Messenger of Allah! I saw the Messenger of Allah (s) in a dream, and it was as though he was saying to me: "How will you be when a part of me is buried in your land, and you are asked to protect my trust, and my star disappears in your land?" So, al-Rida said to him: I am the one buried in your land, and I am the piece of your Prophet, and I am the trust and the star. Surely, whoever visits me, knowing what Allah has obligated with regards to my rights and obedience to me, I and my forefathers will be his intercessor on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever has us as their intercessor will be delivered, even his sins are equal to that of the two heavyweights - the Jinn and mankind. Surely, my father narrated from my grandfather from his father that the Messenger of Allah (s) said: "Whoever sees me in his dream has truly seen me, for Satan cannot take on my form, nor the form of any of my deputies, nor the form of any of their Shi`a. Surely, a true vision is one part out of seventy parts of prophethood."

Muhammad b. `Umar al-Hafith al-Baghdadi narrated to us. He said: Abu Abdillah Muhammad b. Ahmad b. Thabit b. Kinana narrated to me. He said: Muhammad b. al-Hasan b. al-`Abbas Abu Ja`far al-Khuza`i narrated to us. He said: Hasan b. al-Husayn al-`Urni narrated to us. He said: `Amr b. Thabit narrated to us from `Ata' b. al-Sa'ib from Abi Yahya from Ibn `Abbas. He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) climbed the pulpit, and the people gathered. So, he (s) said: O believers! Surely, Allah has revealed to me that I will die, and my cousin `Ali will be killed. O people! I will inform you of something: if you act by it, you will be safe, but if you abandon it, you will be destroyed. Surely, my cousin `Ali is my brother and my vizier. He is my vicegerent. He is the one who speaks on my behalf. He is the Imam of the pious and the Leader of the shining believers. If you take his guidance, you will be guided, and if you follow him, you will be delivered. If you oppose him, you will be misguided. If you obey him, you will have obeyed Allah, and if you disobey him, you will have disobeyed Allah. If you pledge allegiance to him, you will have pledged allegiance to Allah, but if you renege on your allegiance to him, then you renege on your allegiance to Allah. Surely, Allah revealed the Quran to me; and he is the one who, if you disobey him, you go astray. Whoever takes knowledge from other than `Ali will be destroyed. O people! Hear my words and recognize the truth of my advice. Do not do anything after me regarding my Ahl al-Bayt except that which you have been ordered to do with regards to their protection, for they are my kin, my relatives, my brothers, and my sons. You will be grouped and asked about the Two Heavyweights, so look to how you treat them after me. They are my Ahl al-Bayt, so whoever harms them has harmed me, whoever oppresses them has oppressed me, whoever belittles them has belittled me, whoever cherishes them has cherished me, whoever honours them has honoured me, whoever supports them has supported me, and whoever lets them down has let me down. Whoever seeks guidance in other than them has belied me. O people! Fear Allah and look to what you say when you meet Him, for I am the adversary of one who harms them, and I will defeat anyone who I am the adversary of. I say this saying of mine, and I repent to Allah for me and for you.
