My father narrated to us. He said: Sa`d b. `Abdullah narrated to us. He said: Ahmad b. Muhammad b. `Isa narrated to me from al-Husayn b. Sa`id from Fadala from Sayf b. `Umayra from `Ubaydullah b. `Abdullah from one who heard Abu Ja`far al-Baqir . He said: At the approach of Ramadan, three days before the end of Sha`ban, the Messenger of Allah (s) said to Bilal: Call the people. So, the people gathered, and he climbed the pulpit. He praised Allah and commended Him, then said: O people! This month is approaching you, and it is the Master of Months. In it, there is a night that is better than a thousand months. In it, the gates of Hell are locked, and in it, the gates of Paradise are opened. Whoever comes unto it, yet is not forgiven, Allah cuts him off. Whoever has his parents, yet is not forgiven, Allah cuts him off. Whoever has me mentioned in his midst, yet does not send blessings on me, Allah cuts him off.

Muhammad b. Ibrahim narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. Sa`id al-`Askari narrated to us. He said: Al-Husayn b. `Ali b. al-Aswad al-`Ijli narrated to us. He said: `Abd al-Hamid b. Yahya Abu Yahya al-Hamani narrated to us. He said: Abu Bakr al-Hadhali narrated to us from al-Zuhri from `Ubaydullah b. `Abdullah from Ibn `Abbas. He said: When the month of Ramadan would begin, the Messenger of Allah (s) would free every captive and give to every beggar.

Al-Husayn b. Ahmad b. Idris narrated to us. He said: My father narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. al-Husayn b. Abi’l Khattab narrated to us. He said: `Uthman b. `Isa narrated to me from al-`Alaa’ b. al-Musayyib from Abi `Abdillah Ja`far b. Muhammad from his father from his forefathers . He said: Al-Hasan b. `Ali said to the Messenger of Allah (s): O father! What is the reward of one who visits you? So, he said: Whoever visits me, your father, you, or your brother will have a right over me to visit him on the Day of Resurrection so that I may redeem him from his sins.

Muhammad b. Musa b. al-Mutawakkil narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. al-Husayn al-Sa`d Abadi narrated to us from Ahmad b. Abi `Abdillah al-Barqi from Muhammad b. Salim from Ahmad b. al-Nadr from `Amr b. Shimr from Jabir from Abi Ja`far . He said: For everything is a spring, and the spring of the Quran is the month of Ramadan.

Al-Hasan b. Ahmad narrated to us. He said: My father narrated to us from Ahmad b. Muhammad b. `Isa from Al-Hasan b. Mahbub from Jamil b. Salih from al-Fudayl b. Yasar from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad . He said: A memorizer of the Quran is one who acts by it; he will be with the righteous, noble [angelic] scribes.

Muhammad b. al-Hasan narrated to us. He said: Al-Husayn b. al-Hasan b. Aban narrated to us from al-Husayn b. Sa`id from al-Nadr b. Suwayd from Yahya al-Halabi from Muhammad b. Marwan from Sa`d b. Turayf from Abi Ja`far al-Baqir from his father from his grandfather . He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said: Whoever recites ten verses a night will not be recorded among the heedless. Whoever recites fifty verses will be recorded among those who remember (al-dhakirin). Whoever recites one hundred verses will be recorded among the submitters. Whoever recites two hundred verses will be recorded among the devout. Whoever recites three hundred verses will be recorded among the winners. Whoever recites five hundred verses will be recorded among the strivers. Whoever recites one thousand verses will be assigned a quantity of wealth equal to fifty thousand gold weights; each weight is twenty-four carats – the smallest of which is the size of Mount Uhud, and the largest of which is like that which is between heaven and Earth.

My father narrated to us. He said: Ahmad b. Idris narrated to us from Muhammad b. Ahmad from Muhammad b. Hassan from Isma`il b. Mehran from al-Hasan b. `Ali b. Abi Hamza al-Bata'ini from al-Husayn b. Abi'l `Alaa' from Abi `Ubayda al-Kadha' from Abi Ja`far al-Baqir . He said: Whoever recites the mu`awadhatayn and qul huwallahu ahad in witr, it is said to him: "O servant of Allah! Be glad, for Allah has accepted your witr."

Al-Husayn b. Ibrahim narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. Ibrahim narrated to us from his father Ibrahim b. Hashim from Abdullah b. Maymun from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad from his father from his forefathers . He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said: Whoever travels a path seeking knowledge, Allah makes him travel a path to Paradise. Surely, the angels put their wings on a seeker of knowledge that they become pleased with. Those in the heavens and the Earth - even the whales in the ocean - seek forgiveness for the seekers of knowledge. The virtue of the scholar over the worshiper is like that of the full moon over the stars. The scholars are the inheritors of the prophets, for the prophets do not bequeath gold or silver, but they bequeath knowledge - whoever takes from it has taken an abundant omen.

Muhammad b. Musa b. al-Mutawakkil narrated to us. He siad: Ali b. al-Husayn al-Sa`d Abadi narrated to us from Ahmad b. Abi `Abdullah. He said: Abu `Abdillah al-Hamurani narrated to us from al-Hasan b. `Ali b. Abi Hamza from Sayf b. Umayra from Mansur b. Hazim from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad from his father from his forefathers . He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said: Sitting with the people of religion is the honour of this world and the Hereafter.

Hamza b. Muhammad b. Ahmad b. Ja`far b. Muhammad b. Zayd b. `Ali b. al-Husayn b. `Ali b. Abi Talib narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. Ibrahim b. Hashim informed me in 307 AH. He said: My father narrated to me from Ali b. Mu`abbad from al-Husayn b. Khalid from `Ali b. Musa al-Rida from his father from his forefathers . He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said: O `Ali! You are my brother, my vizier, and my standard bearer in this world and the Hereafter. You are the master of my Pond. Whoever loves you has loved me, and whoever hates you has hated me.
