Al-Amālī

1 - حدثنا الشيخ الجليل أبو جعفر محمد بن علي بن الحسين بن موسى ابن بابويه الفقيه القمي (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا أبي (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا سعد بن عبد الله، عن أحمد بن الحسين، عن محمد بن جمهور، وعن (1) محمد بن زياد، عمن سمع محمد بن مسلم الثقفي يقول: سمعت أبا جعفر محمد بن علي الباقر (عليهم السلام) يقول: إن لله تعالى ملائكة موكلين بالصائمين، يستغفرون لهم في كل يوم من شهر رمضان إلى آخره، وينادون الصائمين كل ليلة عند إفطارهم: أبشروا - عباد الله - فقد جعتم قليلا وستشبعون كثيرا، بوركتم وبورك فيكم، حتى إذا كان آخر ليلة من شهر رمضان نادوهم: أبشروا - عباد الله - فقد غفر الله لكم ذنوبكم، وقبل توبتكم، فانظروا كيف تكونون فيما تستأنفون (2).

Abu Ja`far Muhammad b. `Ali b. al-Husayn b. Musa b. Babuwayh al-Faqih al-Qummi (ra) narrated to us. He said: My father (rh) narrated to us. He said: Sa`d b. `Abdullah narrated to us from Ahmad b. al-Husayn from Muhammad b. Jamhur, and from Muhammad b. Ziyad from one who heard Muhammad b. Muslim al-Thaqafi say: I heard Abu Ja`far Muhammad b. `Ali al-Baqir (as) say: For Allah, there are angels assigned to those who fast. They seek repentance for them every day in the month of Ramadan until its end. They call to those who fast every night at the time of their breakfast: “Rejoice, servants of Allah, for you have hungered little and will be satiated much. You will be blessed, and blessing will come by you” – until the end of the night in the month of Ramadan, wherein they will call to them: “Rejoice, servants of Allah, for Allah has forgiven your sins and accepted your repentance. So, see how you will be when you continue.”

82 / 2 - حدثنا محمد بن إبراهيم بن إسحاق (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا أحمد بن محمد الكوفي، قال: حدثنا علي بن الحسن بن علي بن فضال، عن أبيه، عن أبي الحسن علي بن موسى الرضا، عن أبيه، عن آبائه (عليهم السلام)، قال: قال رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله): إن شهر رمضان شهر عظيم، يضاعف الله فيه الحسنات، ويمحو فيه السيئات، ويرفع فيه الدرجات، من تصدق في هذا الشهر بصدقة غفر الله له، ومن أحسن فيه إلى ما ملكت يمينه غفر الله له، ومن حسن فيه خلقه غفر الله له، ومن كظم فيه غيظه غفر الله له، ومن وصل فيه رحمه غفر الله له. ثم قال (عليه السلام): إن شهركم هذا ليس كالشهور، إنه إذا أقبل إليكم أقبل بالبركة والرحمة، وإذا أدبر عنكم أدبر بغفران الذنوب، هذا شهر الحسنات فيه مضاعفة، وأعمال الخير فيه مقبولة، من صلى منكم في هذا الشهر لله عز وجل ركعتين يتطوع بهما غفر الله له. ثم قال (عليه السلام): إن الشقي حق الشقي من خرج عنه هذا الشهر ولم تغفر ذنوبه، فحينئذ يخسر حين يفوز المحسنون بجوائز الرب الكريم (1).

Muhammad b. Ibrahim b. Ishaq (ra) narrated to us. He said: Ahmad b. Muhammad al-Kufi narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. al-Hasan b. `Ali b. Faddal narrated to us from his father from Abi’l Hasan `Ali b. Musa al-Rida from his father from his forefathers (as). He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said: Surely, the month of Ramadan is a great month. In it, Allah multiplies the good deeds, erases sins, and uplifts [one in] ranks. Whoever gives in charity in this month, Allah will forgive him. Whoever is good to his slave in it, Allah will forgive him. Whoever beautifies his character in it, Allah will forgive him. Whoever withholds his anger in it, Allah will forgive him. Whoever is merciful in it, Allah will forgive him. Then, he (as) said: Surely, this month of yours is not like the other months. When it comes to you, it comes with blessing and mercy, and when it leaves you, it leaves you with the forgiveness of sins. Good deeds are multiplied in this month. Good actions in it are accepted. Whoever prays two voluntary units for Allah in this month, Allah will forgive him. Then, he (as) said: Surely, the truly wretched one is he who leaves this month without his sins being forgiven. With that he will lose, whilst the righteous will win the rewards of the Generous Lord.

3 - حدثنا محمد بن الحسن (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا محمد بن الحسن الصفار، قال: حدثنا العباس بن معروف، عن محمد بن سنان، عن طلحة بن زيد، عن الصادق جعفر بن محمد، عن أبيه، عن آبائه (عليهم السلام)، قال: من كبر الله تبارك وتعالى عند المساء مائة تكبيرة، كان كمن أعتق مائة نسمة (2).

Muhammad b. al-Hasan (ra) narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. al-Hasan al-Saffar narrated to us. He said: Al-`Abbas b. Ma`ruf narrated to us from Muhammad b. Sinan from Talha b. Zayd from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad from his father from his forefathers (as). He said: Whoever extols Allah (takbir) one hundred times in the evening, it is as though he frees one hundred people.

4 - حدثنا أبي (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا سعد بن عبد الله، قال: حدثنا الهيثم بن أبي مسروق النهدي، عن الحسين بن علوان، عن عمرو بن ثابت، قال: حدثني محمد ابن حمران، عن الصادق جعفر بن محمد (عليهم السلام)، أنه قال: من سبح الله كل يوم ثلاثين مرة دفع الله تبارك وتعالى عنه سبعين نوعا من البلاء أدناها الفقر (3).

My father (rh) narrated to us. He said: Sa`d b. `Abdullah narrated to us. He said: Al-Haytham b. Abi Masruq al-Nahdi narrated to us from al-Husayn b. `Ilwan from `Amr b. Thabit. He said: Muhammad b. Humran narrated to me from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad (as). He said: Whoever glorifies Allah (tasbih) Allah thirty times per day, Allah will repel seventy forms of calamity from him, the smallest of which is poverty.

5 - حدثنا أبي (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا سعد بن عبد الله، قال: حدثنا أحمد بن محمد، عن الحسين بن سعيد، عن ابن أبي عمير، عن معاوية بن وهب، عن عمرو بن نهيك، عن سلام المكي، عن أبي جعفر الباقر (عليه السلام)، قال: أتى رجل النبي (صلى الله عليه وآله) يقال له شيبة الهذلي (1)، فقال: يا رسول الله، إني شيخ قد كبرت سني، وضعفت قوتي عن عمل كنت قد عودته نفسي من صلاة وصيام وحج وجهاد، فعلمني - يا رسول الله - كلاما ينفعني الله به، وخفف علي يا رسول الله. فقال: أعدها. فأعادها ثلاث مرات، فقال رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله): ما حولك شجرة ولا مدرة إلا وقد بكت من رحمتك، فإذا صليت الصبح فقل عشر مرات: سبحان الله العظيم وبحمده، ولا حول ولا قوة إلا بالله العلي العظيم، فإن الله عز وجل يعافيك بذلك من العمى والجنون والجذام والفقر والهرم. فقال: يا رسول الله، هذا للدنيا، فما للآخرة؟ قال: تقول في دبر كل صلاة: اللهم اهدني من عندك، وأفض علي من فضلك، وانشر علي من رحمتك، وأنزل علي من بركاتك. قال: فقبض عليهن بيده ثم مضى، فقال رجل لابن عباس: ما أشد ما قبض عليها خالك! فقال النبي (صلى الله عليه وآله): أما إنه إن وافى بها يوم القيامة، لم يدعها متعمدا، فتحت له ثمانية أبواب من الجنة يدخلها من أيها شاء (2).

My father (rh) narrated to us. He said: Sa`d b. `Abdullah narrated to us. He said: Ahmad b. Muhammad narrated to us from al-Husayn b. Sa`id from Ibn Abi `Umayr from Mu`awiya b. Wahb from `Amr b. Nuhayk from Salam al-Makki from Abi Ja`far al-Baqir (as). He said: A man named Shayba al-Hadhli came to the Prophet (s) and said to him: O Messenger of Allah! I am an elderly man, and I have become too weak to do that which I accustomed myself to with regards to prayer, fasting, pilgrimage, and jihad. So, teach me, O Messenger of Allah, words that Allah will aid me with; and make things easy for me, O Messenger of Allah. So, he said: Repeat that. So, he repeated that three times; then the Messenger of Allah (s) said: There is not a tree nor a rock near you except that it has wept out of your mercy. So, when you pray Fajr, say this ten times: “May Allah be glorified, and by His praise. There is no ability nor power except by Allah, the Exalted, the Great. (subhanullah al-athim wa bi hamdihi, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah al-`ali al-athim).” With this, Allah will aid you against blindness, insanity, leprosy, poverty, and aging. So, he said: O Messenger of Allah! This is for this world, so, what about the Hereafter? He said: After each prayer, recite: “O Allah! Guide me with Your guidance, shower me with Your grace, spread Your mercy unto me, and bestow me with Your blessings. (Allahumma ihdini min `indik, wa afidh `alayya min fadhlik, wanshur `alayya min rahmatik, wa anzil `alayya min barakatik).” He said: So, he committed to that practice. So, a man said to Ibn `Abbas: How disciplined your maternal uncle was to that practice! So, the Prophet (s) said: Surely, if he consistently fulfills this practice, without abandoning it, the eight gates of Paradise will open for him on the Day of Resurrection, and he will be able to enter through whichever one he pleases.

6 - حدثنا محمد بن موسى بن المتوكل (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا علي بن الحسين السعد آبادي، قال: حدثنا أحمد بن أبي عبد الله البرقي، عن أبيه، عن محمد ابن زياد، عن أبان وغيره، عن الصادق جعفر بن محمد (عليهما السلام)، قال: من ختم صيامه بقول صالح أو عمل صالح تقبل الله منه صيامه. فقيل له: يا بن رسول الله، ما القول الصالح؟ قال: شهادة أن لا إله إلا الله، والعمل الصالح: أخراج الفطرة (3).

Muhammad b. Musa al-Mutawakkil (rh) narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. al-Husayn al-Sa`d al-Abidi narrated to us. He said: Ahmad b. Abi `Abdillah al-Barqi narrated to us from his father from Muhammad b. Ziyad from Aban and someone else from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad (as). He said: Whoever completes his fast with a good saying or a good action, Allah will accept his fast. So, it was said to him: O son of the Messenger of Allah! What is the good saying? He said: The testimony that there is no god but Allah; and the good action is giving out [zakat] al-Fitra.

7 - حدثنا علي بن أحمد بن عبد الله بن أحمد بن أبي عبد الله البرقي، قال: حدثنا أبي، عن أحمد بن أبي عبد الله، عن أبي أيوب سليمان بن مقبل المديني، عن محمد بن أبي عمير، عن هشام بن سالم، عن الصادق جعفر بن محمد (عليهم السلام)، قال: من جالس لنا عائبا، أو مدح لنا قاليا، أو واصل لنا قاطعا، أو قطع لنا واصلا، أو والى لنا عدوا، أو عادى لنا وليا فقد كفر بالذي أنزل السبع المثاني والقرآن العظيم (1).

`Ali b. Ahmad b. `Abdullah b. Ahmad b. Abi `Abdillah al-Barqi narrated to us. He said: My father narrated to us from Ahmad b. Abi `Abdullah from Abi Ayyub Sulayman b. Muqbal al-Medini from Muhammad b. Abi `Umayr from Hisham b. Salim from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad (as). He said: Whoever sits with one who looks for faults in us, or compliments one who denies us, or connects with one who cuts us off, or cuts off from one who connects with us, or befriends one who opposes us, or opposes one who befriends us has disbelieved in Him who revealed the Seven Oft-Coupled verses and the Great Quran.

8 - حدثنا الحسين بن إبراهيم بن ناتانه (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا علي بن إبراهيم، عن أبيه، عن محمد بن أبي عمير، عن عبد الله بن الفضل الهاشمي، عن الصادق جعفر بن محمد، عن أبيه، عن آبائه (عليهم السلام)، قال: قال رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله): طوبى لمن طال عمره وحسن عمله فحسن منقلبه إذ رضي عنه ربه عز وجل، وويل لمن طال عمره وساء عمله، فساء منقلبه إذ سخط عليه ربه عز وجل (2).

Al-Husayn b. Ibrahim b. Natana (rh) narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. Ibrahim narrated to us from his father from Muhammad b. Abi `Umayr from `Abdullah b. al-Fadl al-Hashimi from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad from his father from his forefathers (as). He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said: Blessed is he who lives a long life and beautifies his actions, for his ending will be good if his Lord is pleased with him. Woe to he who lives a long life and commits evil, for his ending will be evil if his Lord is discontented with him.

9 - حدثنا الحسين (3) بن أحمد بن إدريس (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثني أبي، عن أيوب بن نوح، عن محمد بن زياد، عن غياث بن إبراهيم، عن الصادق جعفر بن محمد، عن أبيه، عن آبائه (عليهم السلام)، قال: قال رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله): من أحسن فيما بقي من عمره، لم يؤاخذ بما مضى من ذنبه، ومن أساء فيما بقي من عمره أخذ بالاول والآخر (4).

Al-Husayn b. Ahmad b. Idris (rh) narrated to us. He said: My father narrated to me from Ayyub b. Nuh from Muhammad b. Ziyad from Ghiyath b. Ibrahim from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad from his father from his forefathers (as). He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said: Whoever does good for the remainder of his life will not be taken for his past sins. Whoever does evil for the remainder of his life will be taken for his past and his end.

10 - حدثنا جعفر بن محمد بن مسرور (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا الحسين بن محمد بن عامر، عن المعلى بن محمد البصري، عن جعفر بن سليمان، عن عبد الله بن الحكم، عن أبيه، عن سعيد بن جبير، عن ابن عباس، قال: قال النبي (صلى الله عليه وآله): إن عليا وصيي وخليفتي، وزوجته فاطمة سيدة نساء العالمين ابنتي، والحسن والحسين سيدا شباب أهل الجنة ولداي، من والاهم فقد والاني، ومن عاداهم فقد عاداني، ومن ناوأهم فقد ناوأني، ومن جفاهم فقد جفاني، ومن برهم فقد برني، وصل الله من وصلهم، وقطع من قطعهم، ونصر من أعانهم، وخذل من خذلهم، اللهم من كان له من أنبيائك ورسلك ثقل وأهل بيت، فعلي وفاطمة والحسن والحسين أهل بيتي وثقلي، فأذهب عنهم الرجس وطهرهم تطهيرا (1).

Ja`far b. Muhammad b. Masrur (rh) narrated to us. He said: Al-Husayn b. Muhammad b. `Amer narrated to us from al-Mu`alla b. Muhammad al-Basri from Ja`far b. Sulayman from `Abdullah b. al-Hakam from his father from Sa`id b. Jubayr from Ibn `Abbas. He said: The Prophet (s) said: Surely, `Ali is my deputy and my vicegerent. His wife, Fatima, the Mistress of the Women of the Worlds, is my daughter. Al-Hasan and al-Husayn, the two Masters of the Youth of Paradise, are my two sons. Whoever aligns with them has aligned with me, and whoever opposes them has opposed me, and whoever defies them has defied me, and whoever is aloof with them is aloof with me, and whoever is good to them is good to me. Allah will connect with whoever connects with them, and He will cut off whoever cuts them off, and He will support whoever aids them, and He will cause failure to whoever fails them. O Allah! Each of Your prophets and Your messengers had a heavyweight and a family. So, `Ali, Fatima, al-Hasan, and al-Husayn are my family and my heavyweight; so, remove all uncleanliness from them, and purify them with a thorough purification.
