التوبة

al-Tawbah (Repentance)

ٱلتَّوْبَة

9:31

اتَّخَذُوا

أَحْبَارَهُمْ

وَرُهْبَانَهُمْ

أَرْبَابًا

مِّن

دُونِ

اللَّهِ

وَالْمَسِيحَ

ابْنَ

مَرْيَمَ

وَمَا

أُمِرُوا

إِلَّا

لِيَعْبُدُوا

إِلَهًا

وَاحِدًا

لَّا

إِلَهَ

إِلَّا

هُوَ

سُبْحَانَهُ

عَمَّا

يُشْرِكُونَ

ittakhadhū ʾaḥbārahum wa-ruhbānahum ʾarbāban min dūni llāhi wa-l-masīḥa bna maryama wa-mā ʾumirū ʾillā li-yaʿbudū ʾilāhan wāḥidan ʾilāha ʾillā huwa subḥānahū ʿammā yushrikūna

They (unconditionally) obeyed the rabbis and the monks and worshipped the Messiah, son of Mary, as they should have obeyed God. They were commanded to worship no one besides God who is the only God and who is too exalted to be considered equal to any idols.
