لَّا

يَسْأَمُ

الْإِنسَانُ

مِن

دُعَاءِ

الْخَيْرِ

وَإِن

مَّسَّهُ

الشَّرُّ

فَيَئُوسٌ

قَنُوطٌ

yasʾamu l-ʾinsānu min duʿāʾi l-khayri wa-ʾin massahu sh-sharru fa-yaʾūsun qanūṭun

Man does not weary of asking for good (things), but if ill touches him, he gives up all hope (and) is lost in despair.

Man is never wearied of supplicating for good, and should any ill befall him, he becomes hopeless and despondent.
