قَالُوا رَبَّنَا أَمَتَّنَا اثْنَتَيْنِ وَأَحْيَيْتَنَا اثْنَتَيْنِ فَاعْتَرَفْنَا بِذُنُوبِنَا فَهَلْ إِلَى خُرُوجٍ مِّن سَبِيلٍ
They will say, ‘Our Lord! Twice did You make us die, and twice did You give us life. We admit our sins. Is there any way out [from this plight]?’

Commentary on Quran 40:11
[Pooya/Ali Commentary 40:11] The first death refers to non-existence- Baqarah: 28 says you were dead and He gave you life;-and the second death refers to the cessation of physical life-: again He will cause you to die and again bring you to life, on the day of resurrection.
