فَاتَّخَذْتُمُوهُمْ سِخْرِيًّا حَتَّى أَنسَوْكُمْ ذِكْرِي وَكُنتُم مِّنْهُمْ تَضْحَكُونَ
But you took them by ridicule until they made you forget My remembrance, and you used to laugh at them.

Commentary on Quran 23:110
[Pooya/Ali Commentary 23:110] The ungodly disbelievers were so occupied in the ridicule of the godly believers that the believers became the unconscious cause of the disbelievers' negligence of Allah's reminders and warnings. The disbelievers are responsible for the mischief. They must pay the penalty.
