al-Baqarah (The Cow)

ٱلْبَقَرَة

2:215

يَسْأَلُونَكَ

مَاذَا

يُنفِقُونَ

قُلْ

مَا

أَنفَقْتُم

مِّنْ

خَيْرٍ

فَلِلْوَالِدَيْنِ

وَالْأَقْرَبِينَ

وَالْيَتَامَى

وَالْمَسَاكِينِ

وَابْنِ

السَّبِيلِ

وَمَا

تَفْعَلُوا

مِنْ

خَيْرٍ

فَإِنَّ

اللَّهَ

بِهِ

عَلِيمٌ

yasʾalūnaka mādhā yunfiqūna qul ʾanfaqtum min khayrin fa-li-l-wālidayni wa-l-ʾaqrabīna wa-l-yatāmā wa-l-masākīni wa-bni s-sabīli wa-mā tafʿalū min khayrin fa-ʾinna llāha bihī ʿalīmun

They ask you what to spend for the cause of God. (Muhammad) tell them that whatever you spend, give it to your parents, the orphans, the destitute, and those who may be in urgent need of money whilst on a journey. Whatever good you do, God certainly is Aware of it.
