This clause practically specifies “Khilafat” is reserved for Immaculates of Divine selection: pilgrimage, prayers are obligatory near Abraham’s Place, and Mecca is profusely supplied with provisions, besides sage against invasion of infidels.

فلسفہ قبلہ

یہاں سب سے پہلے جو سوال سامنے آتاہے یہ ہے کہ جد ھر رخ کریں اگر ادھر خدا ہے تو پھر قبلہ کے تعین کی کیا ضرورت ہے۔ اس ضمن میں بعد میں گفتگو ہوگی کہ قبلہ کی طرف متوجہ ہونے کا یہ مفہوم ہرگز نہیں کہ خدا کی ذات پاک کو کسی معین سمت میں محدود سمجھا جائے بلکہ انسان چونکہ مادی وجود ہے اور مجبور ہے کہ کسی ایک ہی طرف نماز پڑھے لہذا حکم دیا گیا کہ سب کے سب (استثنائی مقامات کے علاوہ) ایک ہی طرف نماز پڑھیں تا کہ لوگوں کی صفوں میں وحدت اور ہم آہنگی پیدا ہوسکے اور انتشار و پراکندگی کی روک تھام ہوسکے۔ ضمنا یہ بات بھی ہے کہ قبلہ کے لئے جو سمت معین ہوئی ہے۔ (یعنی کعبہ) وہ ایک مقدس نقطہ ہے اور قدیم ترین مراکز توحید میں سے ہے اور اس کی طرف متوجہ ہونے سے افکار توحید بیدار ہوتے ہیں۔

وجہ اللہ

اس سے مراد خدا کا چہرہ نہیں بلکہ لفظ (وجہ) یہاں ذات کے معنی میں استعمال ہواہے۔ مختلف روایات میں اس آیت سے ان لوگوں کی نماز صحیح ہونے کے بارے میں استدلال کیاگیاہے ۔ جنہوں نے اشتباہ یا تحقیق نہ ہوسکنے کی وجہ سے خلاف قبلہ نماز پڑھی ہو مزید بر آں اس سے سواری پر نماز پڑھنے کے جواز کے لئے بھی استدلال کیاگیاہے (مزید توضیح اور تفصیل کے لئے وسائل الشیعہ، کتاب الصلوة، ابواب قبلہ کی طرف رجوع کریں)۔ ۱۱۶۔ وَقَالُوا اتَّخَذَ اللهُ وَلَدًا سُبْحَانَہُ بَلْ لَہُ مَا فِی السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْاٴَرْضِ کُلٌّ لَہُ قَانِتُونَ ۱۱۷۔بدِیعُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْاٴَرْضِ وَإِذَا قَضَی اٴَمْرًا فَإِنَّمَا یَقُولُ لَہُ کُنْ فَیَکُون ترجمہ ۱۱۶۔ (یہود، نصاری اور مشرکین) کہتے ہیں خدا کا بیٹا ہے، وہ تو پاک و منزہ ہے بلکہ جو کچھ آسمانوں اور زمین میں ہے سب اسی کاہے اور سب اس کے سامنے سرنگوں ہے (سب اس کے بندے ہیں اور کوئی بھی اس کا فرزند نہیں)۔ ۱۱۷۔ آسمانوں اور زمین کو وجود بخشنے والاوہی ہے اور جب کسی چیز کو وجود عطا کرنے کا فرمان جاری کرتاہے تو اس کیلئے کہتاہے ہوجا اور وہ فورا ہوجاتی ہے۔

جس طرف رخ کر و خدا موجود ہے

گذشتہ آیت میں ان ظالمین سے متعلق گفتگو تھی جو مساجد الہی کی آبادی سے روکتے تھے اور انہیں ویران کرنے میں کوشاں رہتے تھے۔ زیر نظر آیت اس بحث کا تتمہ ہے۔ ارشاد ہوتاہے: مشرق و مغرب خدا کے ہیں اور جس طرف رخ کرو خدا موجود ہے (وَلِلَّہِ الْمَشْرِقُ وَالْمَغْرِبُ فَاٴَیْنَمَا تُوَلُّوا فَثَمَّ وَجْہُ اللهِ)۔ ایسا نہیں کہ اگرتمہیں مساجد اور مراکز توحید میں جانے سے روک دیاجائے تو خدا کی بندگی کی راہ بند ہوجائے گی۔ اس جہان کے مشرق و مغرب اس کی ذا ت پاک سے تعلق رکھتے ہیں اور جس طرف رخ کرو وہ موجود ہے۔ اسی طرح قبلہ کی تبدیلی جو بعض خاص وجوہ کے پیش نظر انجام پائی ہے اس سلسلے میں کچھ اثر نہیں رکھتی۔ کیا کوئی جگہ ہے جو خدا سے خالی ہو اصولا تو خدا بے عدیل و بے نیاز اور عالم و دانا ہے (ِ اِنَّ اللهَ وَاسِعٌ عَلِیمٌ)۔ اس نکتے کی طرف توجہ ضروری ہے کہ اس آیت میں مشرق و مغرب سے مراد و مخصوص سمتیں نہیں بلکہ یہ تمام اطراف کے لئے کنایہ ہے ۔ جیسے ہم کہا کرتے ہیں کہ دشمنوں نے عداوت سے اور دوستوں نے خوف سے حضرت علی کے فضائل چھپائے لیکن اس کے با وجود مشرق و مغرب آپ کے فضائل سے بھرے پڑے ہیں (یعنی تمام اطراف اور ساری دنیا میں پھیلے ہوئے ہیں) اور شاید خصوصیت سے مشرق و مغرب کا ذکر اس لحاظ سے ہے کہ انسان سب سے پہلے انہی سمتوں کو پہنچانتاہے اور باقی جہات ان کے ذریعے پہچانی جاتی ہیں۔ قرآن مجید میں ہے: وَاٴَوْرَثْنَا الْقَوْمَ الَّذِینَ کَانُوا یُسْتَضْعَفُونَ مَشَارِقَ الْاٴَرْضِ وَمَغَارِبَہَا جنہیں کمزور کرد یا گیاتھا ہم نے انہیں زمین کے مشرق و مغرب کا وارث بنادیا ۔ (اعراف۔۱۳۷

[Pooya/Ali Commentary 2:115] Aqa Mahdi Puya says: Wajh means face - the manifesting aspect (side) of a thing. Imam Ali ibna Abi Talib says: Beyond this moon are many moons, beyond the sun are many suns". (Bihar ul Anwar). The east and the west mentioned here should not be confined to the directions we know in relation to the rising and setting of the sun. It also refers to the whole cosmos where there are several moons and suns, therefore, the hold of the omnipotence of Allah, the absolute, controls and directs (manifest) in all the easts and the wests of the universe. He is the all-pervading omniscient who is in everything and everything is in Him. His manifestation (wajh) serves the purpose of man. In whichever direction the mind turns there is His manifestation. (Araf: 137, Shu-ara: 28, Saffat: 5, Zukhruf: 38, Rahman: 17). The interpretation of wajh, as Allah's purpose, by the Ahmadi commentator, is a linguistic misappropriation to effect a motivated confusion. The verb sharaqa means to beam or radiate with light. It may be physical or spiritual (Zumar: 69). The place or the direction from which the light beams is mashriq (the east), and the place or direction in which the light disappears is maghrib (the west). The terms mashriq and maghrib should be taken in a wider and more comprehensive sense to include all the lights, physical and spiritual, coming from the absolute to enlighten the various spheres of existence in the universe. In this sense Allah is the wasi-un alim. The first creation in which the unity of the absolute is manifested is known as mashriqul wujud, and the matter in which the unity disappears and gives its place to multiplicity is known as maghribul wujud. On the other hand, as regards to the multiplicity of manifestation the matter can be taken as the mashriq of the multiplicity and the absolute as its maghrib wherein the multiplicity disappears. These are some examples of the various usages of the terms mashriq and maghrib in their singular, plural and dual forms. The particular incident of the revelation of this verse relating to the direction of qiblah (noted below) does not affect the universality which this verse signifies. "This verse was revealed when the companions, who were sent to fight a battle, camped outside Madina. It was a dark night. The sky was full of clouds. The direction of qiblah could not be correctly ascertained, so they prayed the isha salat after making approximation, which was proved to be wrong in the morning. In Madina, they informed the Holy Prophet of that which had happened and, mindful of their mistake, prayed the said salat again. This verse was then revealed to console those faithful devotees." (Tafsir Kabir). Tawalla (to turn) means, in this verse, that in whichever direction the Muslims turn they will win victory, or whichever direction the infidels choose to flee, they will encounter the might of Allah.
