al-Isrā’ (The Night Journey)
ٱلْإِسْرَاء
17:46
وَجَعَلْنَا
عَلَى
قُلُوبِهِمْ
أَكِنَّةً
أَن
يَفْقَهُوهُ
وَفِي
آذَانِهِمْ
وَقْرًا
وَإِذَا
ذَكَرْتَ
رَبَّكَ
فِي
الْقُرْآنِ
وَحْدَهُ
وَلَّوْا
عَلَى
أَدْبَارِهِمْ
نُفُورًا
wa-jaʿalnā ʿalā qulūbihim ʾakinnatan ʾan yafqahūhu wa-fī ʾādhānihim waqran wa-ʾidhā dhakarta rabbaka fī l-qurʾāni waḥdahū wallaw ʿalā ʾadbārihim nufūran
We put a veil over their hearts so that they cannot understand it. We deafen their ears. When you mention your Lord in this Quran as One (Supreme Being), they run away.
