فَلَوْلَا
كَانَتْ
قَرْيَةٌ
آمَنَتْ
فَنَفَعَهَا
إِيمَانُهَا
إِلَّا
قَوْمَ
يُونُسَ
لَمَّا
آمَنُوا
كَشَفْنَا
عَنْهُمْ
عَذَابَ
الْخِزْيِ
فِي
الْحَيَاةِ
الدُّنْيَا
وَمَتَّعْنَاهُمْ
إِلَى
حِينٍ
fa-law-lā kānat qaryatun ʾāmanat fa-nafaʿahā ʾīmānuhā ʾillā qawma yūnusa lammā ʾāmanū kashafnā ʿanhum ʿadhāba l-khizyi fī l-ḥayāti d-dunyā wa-mattaʿnāhum ʾilā ḥīnin
Why did no one except the people of Jonah believe (in their punishment before their death) so that they could have benefitted from their faith? When the people of Jonah believed, We saved them from a disgraceful torment in this life and provided them with the means of enjoyment for an appointed time.
