7. It is narrated from the narrator of the previous Hadith from certain persons of his people from Hanan ibn Sadir who has said the following: “I once was with abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, around the table-spread of food. I reached for the endives and he (the Imam) said to me, ‘O Hanan, why do you not eat leeks?’ I replied, ‘It is because of what is narrated from you in the Hadith about endives.’ He (the Imam) then asked, ‘What is narrated about it from us?’ I replied, ‘It is narrated from you as having said, “Every day one drop falls on it.’” He (the Imam) said, ‘On leeks it is seven drops.’ I then asked, ‘How should I eat it?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Cut their roots and throw away their heads.’”
