5. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad Ali ibn al-Hakam from al-‘Ala’ from Muhammad ibn Muslim who has said the following:

“I once asked one of the two Imam, (abu Ja‘far or abu ‘Abd Allah), ‘Alayhim al-Salam, about the case of a man who divorces his wife once. He (the Imam) said, ‘He has the authority to go back to her before the expiration of waiting period.’ I then asked about if he does not arrange witnesses to his going back. He (the Imam) said, ‘He must do so.’ I then asked, ‘What happens if he is not attentive to it?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘He must find witness when he remembers; witness is because of inheritance.’”
