10. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn al-Hakam from al-‘Ala’ ibn Razin from Muhammad ibn Muslim who has said the following: “This is concerning my question before abu ‘ Abd Allah , about the case of a man who has a slave-girl and sets her free. She then marries and gives birth; if her first master can marry her daughter. He (the Imam) said, ’She is unlawful for him because she is his daughter, free and slaves are the same in this issue.’ Then he (the Imam) read this verse, . . the ones who grow in your care from your wives.’ (4:23)” Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn Mahbub from al-’Ala’ ibn Razin from Muhammad ibn Muslim from one of the two Imam, (abu Ja’far or abu ‘Abd Allah) , a similar Hadith.
