1. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Hassan ibn Ali from ibn Faddal from Ali ibn Ya’qub from Harun ibn Muslim from ‘Ubayd ibn Zurarah who has said the following: This is concerning my question before abu ‘ Abd Allah , about the case of a marriage without formal proposal (Khutbah). He (the Imam) said, ‘Is it not the case in general that when our young people marry, we prepare food and at the table we say, “O so and so, do you give so and so in marriage to so and so” and he says, “Yes, I have done so”?”’
