Ali ibn Hatim, from Muhammad ibn Abi Abdillah, from Sa’ad ibn Abdillah, from Ahmad ibn Muhammad, from Muhammad ibn Sinan, from Abd al-Malik al-Qummi, from his brother Idris ibn Abdillah, who said:
I heard Aba Abdillah
عليه السلام, say: “When you finish the prayer, then say this supplication: ‘O’ Allah
سبحانه وتعالى, I submit to You
عز وجل through obedience to You
عز وجل, And through allegiance to You
عز وجل, And through allegiance to Your Messenger, And the allegiance to the Imams
عليه السلام, peace be upon them, from the first of them to the last of them.’” (And name the Imams
عليه السلام, peace be upon them) (Imam
عليه السلام then continued) “Then say: ‘Ameen’. I submit to You through obedience to them. And (I submit to You
عز وجل through) their allegiance, And acceptance of what You
عز وجل have favored them with, without denial and without arrogance toward the meaning of what You
عز وجل revealed in Your Book, according to the boundaries of what has come to us concerning it and what has not come to us. I am a believer, acknowledging that before You
عز وجل, submitting, And content with what You
عز وجل have been pleased with, O’ Lord
عز وجل. I seek through it Your countenance and the Abode of the Hereafter, in fear and in hope toward You
عز وجل. So keep me alive upon it as long as You
عز وجل give me life, And cause me to die upon it when You
عز وجل cause me to die, And resurrect me upon it when You
عز وجل resurrect me. And if there has been from me any shortcoming in what has passed, then I repent to You
عز وجل from it, and I turn eagerly to what is with You
عز وجل. And I ask You
عز وجل to protect me from disobeying You
عز وجل, And not to leave me to myself for the blink of an eye ever as long as You
عز وجل keep me alive, not for less than that and not for more. “Indeed, the soul is ever-inclined to evil,” (Surah Yusuf
12:53) except for whom You
عز وجل have mercy, O’ Most Merciful of the merciful. And I ask You
عز وجل to protect me through Your obedience until You
عز وجل cause me to die upon it while You
عز وجل are pleased with me, And that You
عز وجل seal (my life) for me with happiness, And never turn me away from it ever. And there is no power except through You
عز وجل.” Then supplicate with whatever you wish. When you finish the supplication, go into prostration and say in your prostration: “My worn-out, bleak face has prostrated before Your everlasting, magnificent Face. My humbled face has prostrated before Your Mighty Face. My needy face has prostrated before Your Rich, Generous Face. My Lord
عز وجل, Indeed, I seek Your forgiveness for what has passed, And I seek Your forgiveness for what is to come. My Lord
عز وجل, do not make my trials overwhelming. My Lord
عز وجل, do not make Your decree concerning me evil. My Lord
عز وجل, do not make my enemies rejoice over me. My Lord
عز وجل, there is no repeller and no preventer except You
عز وجل. My Lord
عز وجل, send blessings upon (Prophet) Muhammad
صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم and the family of Muhammad
صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم with the best of Your blessings, and bless (Prophet) Muhammad
صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم and the family of Muhammad
صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم with the finest of Your blessings. O’ Allah
سبحانه وتعالى, I seek refuge in You
عز وجل from Your overwhelming might, And I seek refuge in You
عز وجل from Your punishments, And I seek refuge in You
عز وجل from all of Your wrath and displeasure. Glory be to You
عز وجل. You
عز وجل are Allah
سبحانه وتعالى, the Lord of the worlds.”
