Ali ibn Hatim, from Muhammad ibn Abi Abdillah, from Sa’ad ibn Abdillah, from Ahmad ibn Muhammad, from al-Barqi, from Sa’ad ibn Sad, from Imam al-Ridha عليه السلام, peace be upon him, who said: Imam al-Ridha عليه السلام said: “This is the supplication for well-being: O’ Allah سبحانه وتعالى, O’ Guardian of well-being, O’ Bestower of well-being, O’ Provider of well-being, O’ Granter of well-being, O’ Benefactor of well-being upon me and upon all of His creation, O’ Most Merciful of this world and the Hereafter and their Compassionate One, send blessings upon (Prophet) Muhammad صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم and the family of Muhammad صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم, And hasten for us relief and a way out and grant me well-being and the continuity of well-being in this world and the Hereafter, O’ Most Merciful of the merciful.” Then perform two units of prayer, and when you have finished, say: “O’ Allah سبحانه وتعالى, I ask You عز وجل by Your mercy which has encompassed all things, And by Your power through which You عز وجل have subdued all things, And by Your might through which You عز وجل have overcome all things, And by Your honor before which nothing can stand, And by Your greatness which has filled all things, And by Your knowledge which has encompassed all things, And by Your Face which remains after the annihilation of all things, And by the light of Your Face by which everything is illuminated. O’ Bestower, O’ Light, O’ First of the first, and O’ Last of the last, O’ Allah سبحانه وتعالى, O’ Most Merciful, O’ Allah سبحانه وتعالى, O’ Most Compassionate, O’ Allah سبحانه وتعالى I seek refuge in You عز وجل from the sins that bring about retribution, And I seek refuge in You عز وجل from the sins that result in regret, And I seek refuge in You عز وجل from the sins that withhold allotted portions, And I seek refuge in You عز وجل from the sins that tear apart protections, And I seek refuge in You عز وجل from the sins that prevent decrees, And I seek refuge in You عز وجل from the sins that bring down afflictions, And I seek refuge in You عز وجل from the sins that give victory to the enemies, And I seek refuge in You عز وجل from the sins that block supplication. And I seek refuge in You عز وجل from the sins that hasten destruction, And I seek refuge in You عز وجل from the sins that cut off hope, And I seek refuge in You عز وجل from the sins that lead to misery, And I seek refuge in You عز وجل from the sins that darken the atmosphere, And I seek refuge in You عز وجل from the sins that remove the covering, And I seek refuge in You عز وجل from the sins that withhold the rain of the sky.
