Chapter on the Adhan (Call to Prayer) and the Iqamah

Hadith #30

وَ عَنْهُ عَنِ اَلْحَسَنِ عَنْ زُرْعَةَ عَنْ سَمَاعَةَ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ:« إِذَا أَقَامَ اَلْمُؤَذِّنُ اَلصَّلاَةَ فَقَدْ حَرُمَ اَلْكَلاَمُ إِلاَّ أَنْ يَكُونَ اَلْقَوْمُ لَيْسَ يُعْرَفُ لَهُمْ إِمَامٌ»

Narrated from him from al-Hasan from Zur’ah from Sama’ah, who said: Abu Abdillah said: "When the mu’adhdhin gives the iqamah for the prayer, then speaking becomes prohibited, except if the people do not have a known imam."
