حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ وَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْحِمْيَرِيُّ قَالا حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مَهْزِيَارَ عَنْ أَخِيهِ عَنِ النَّضْرِ بْنِ سُوَيْدٍ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ حُمَيْدٍ وَ فَضَالَةَ بْنِ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ أَبَانِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ عليه السلام قَالَ: إِنَّ عَلِيّاً عليه السلام عَالِمُ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ وَ الْعِلْمُ يُتَوَارَثُ وَ لَيْسَ يَهْلِكُ مِنَّا أَحَدٌ إِلَّا تَرَكَ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ مَنْ يَعْلَمُ مِثْلَ عِلْمِهِ أَوْ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ.
Narrated to us my father 
: Narrated to us Saad bin Abdullah and Abdullah bin Ja’far Himyari that they said: Narrated to us Ibrahim bin Mahziyar from his brother from Nazr bin Suwaid from Asim bin Hameed and Faddala bin Ayyub from Aban bin Uthman from Muhammad bin Muslim from Abi Ja’far that he said: “Indeed Ali is the scholar of this nation and knowledge is transferred to him through inheritance. None of us passes away, except leaving someone from his family who has similar knowledge or as Allah wills.”
