9. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Hassan ibn Ali from Wuhayb ibn Hafs who has said the following:

“Once we were with abu Basir when ‘Amr ibn ’Ilyas came to him and said, ‘O abu Muhammad, my brother from Halab has sent to me a certain amount of goods of Zakat so I distribute in al-Kufah, but it was looted on the way. Do you have any Hadith about it?’ He said, ‘Yes, I once asked abu Ja‘far , about this issue and I did not think anyone would ever ask me about it. I said to abu Ja‘far , I pray to Allah to keep my soul in service for your cause, a man sends his Zakat from one land to another land and it is looted on the way. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is sufficient (as payment for Zakat) but if it was up to me I would pay it again.’”
