2. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn al-Hakam from fro al-‘Ala’ ibn Razin from Muhammad ibn Muslim who has said the following:

“I once saw abu Ja‘far , perform Salah (prayer) wearing a loincloth, not very large, secured to his neck by a knot. I then asked him (the Imam) about a man who performs Salah (prayer) in one shirt. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not an offense if it is woven densely, and a woman performs Salah (prayer) in a loose outer garment and veil, if the outer garment is densely woven, that is, provides covering.’ I then asked saying, ‘Allah has granted you blessings, is a slave-girl to cover her head in Salah (prayer)? He (the Imam) said, ‘A slave girl is not required to have a veil.’”
