16. Al-Husayn ibn Muhammad has narrated from ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Amir from Ali ibn Mahziyar from Hammad ibn ‘Isa from Mu‘awiyah ibn ‘Ammar who has said the following:

“Al-Bara’ ibn Ma‘rur al-Tamimiy al-Ansariy was in al-Madinah and the Messenger of Allah was in Makkah. He died when the Messenger of Allah and Muslims would face Jerusalem during prayer. He said in his will that when he died, the Messenger of Allah should place him facing Qiblah in the grave. This became a Sunnah (tradition). He also said in his will that one-third of his properties should be given to the needy. A verse in the Holy Quran was revealed about one-third of the properties of a deceased and it became an established Sunnah (tradition).”
