Ahmad b. Ziyad b. Ja`far al-Hamadani narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. Ibrahim narrated to us from his father Ibrahim b. Hashim from `Ali b. al-Hakam from Hisham b. Salim from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad . He said:

Nuh lived for two thousand five hundred years. From them, he lived eight hundred and fifty years before he was commissioned, and he called to his community for nine hundred and fifty years, and he lived seven hundred years after disembarking from the Ark – and the water dried from region to region – and his descendants settled in the countries. Then, the Angel of Death came to him while he was in the sun, so he said to him: Peace be with you. So, Nuh replied. Then, he said: What has brought you here, O Angel of Death? So, he said: I have come to take your soul. He said: Will you allow me to move from the sun to the shade? So, he said: Yes. So, Nuh moved from the sun to the shade. Then, he said: O Angel of Death! My time in this world is like my movement from the sun to the shade; now do what you were commanded to do. He said: So, he took his soul.
