Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Yahya al-`Attar narrated to us. He said: My father narrated to us from Ahmad b. Abi `Abdillah from Muhammad b. `Ali al-Kufi from Sharif b. Sabiq al-Taflisi from Ibrahim b. Muhammad from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad from his father from his forefathers . He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said:

`Isa b. Maryam passed by a grave whose occupant was being punished. Then, he passed by it again the following year, and he was not being punished. So, he said: “O Lord! I passed by this grave last year, and its occupant was being punished. Then, I passed by it this year, and I found that he was not being punished.” So, Allah revealed to him: “O Spirit of Allah! He has a righteous son who rectified a path and sheltered an orphan, so he was forgiven due to what his son had done.” He said: `Isa b. Maryam said to Yahya b. Zakariyya : If something true [of evil] is said about you, then know that it is a sin, so ask for Allah’s forgiveness for it. If something false is said about you, then know that a good deed will be recorded for you without needing to toil for it.
