105. My father, may Allah grant him mercy, said: We were told by Muhammed bin Yahya al-‘Attar, that he said: We were told by Abu Sa’eed al-Adami, from Hasan bin Mahbub, from Ali bin Ri’ab, from Hasan bin Ziyad al-‘Attar, that he said: I said to Abu Abdillah, peace be upon him: They are saying: «Are you believers?» We then say: «Yes, if Allah, Exalted is He, wills.» They would then say: «Are the believers not in Paradise?» We then say: «Sure.» They would then say: «And are you in Paradise?» When we then look into ourselves, we are weakened and broken from answering. He said: Then he said: If they say to you: «Are you believers?» then say to them: «Yes, if Allah wills». He said: I said: They also say: «You were excluded (from it), because you are doubters.» He said: Then say: «By Allah, we are not doubters., however, we were excluded, as how Allah, Exalted and Glorious is He, said: «You will, indeed, enter the Sacred Mosque, if Allah wills, being safe» (48:27) while He knows that they will enter it at first, and Allah, Exalted and Glorious is He, had called the believers in righteous acts as believers, and he did not call by that those who performed major sins and what Allah, Exalted and Glorious is He, has promised the Fire for, neither in any (revelation of the) Qur’an, nor report. Do not refer to them with (as having) faith after that act.
