4. Muḥammad ibn Ḥasan narrated to me from Muḥammad ibn Ḥasan Al-Saffār, from Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad ibn ‘Isā, from his father, from Ibn Abī ‘Umayr, from Hishām ibn Ḥakam, from ‘Abdil Karīm ibn Ḥassān, who said: I asked Abā ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s)), “What does it mean when it is said that going to the Ziyārah of the grave of Ḥusain (a.s) is equal to performing a Hajj and an ‘Umrah?” Imam (a.s) replied: Verily Hajj and ‘Umrah can only be performed here (in Makkah). However, if one decides to go to Hajj but does not have the means (to do so) and goes to Ḥusain (a.s) instead, Allāh will register a Hajj for him. (Similarly) if someone decides to perform an ‘Umrah but does not have the means (to do so and goes to Ḥusain (a.s) instead), an ‘Umrah will be registered for him.
