3. My father narrated to me from Sa’d (ibn ‘Abdillāh), from ‘Ali ibn Ismā’īl ibn ‘Isā, Muḥammad ibn Ḥusain ibn Abil Khaťťāb, and Ibrāhīm ibn Hāshim, from ‘Uthmān ibn ‘Isā, from Samā’ah ibn Mihrān, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq ) said: Jabra`īl announced the news of the killing of Ḥusain to the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ in the house of Um Salamah. While Jabra`īl was with the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ, Ḥusain entered. Jabra`īl said to the Prophet ﷺ, “Verily your nation will kill him.” The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said, “Show me the dust on which his blood will be shed.” Therefore, Jabra`īl took a handful of that dust and it was a red-coloured dust. Um Salamah kept that dust until she died.
