1. My father said: Ahmad ibn Idris said, on the authority of Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Yahya ibn `Imran al-Ash`ari, on the authority of Muhammad ibn al-Sindi, on the authority of `Ali ibn al-Hakam, on the authority of Hisham ibn Salim that Abu `Abd Allah al-Sadiq said:

“There is nothing which causes fear or which causes delight [qabd wa bast] in which Allah has not placed a favor and a trial (for His Servants).”
