عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ حَرِيزٍ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ قَالَ خَرَجَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ ( عليه السلام ) يُصَلِّي عَلَى بَعْضِ أَطْفَالِهِمْ وَ عَلَيْهِ جُبَّةُ خَزٍّ صَفْرَاءُ وَ مِطْرَفُ خَزٍّ أَصْفَرُ .

1. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Hammad ibn ‘Isa from Hariz from Zurarah who has said the following: “Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), came out for Salat (prayer) and certain ones of his children had a gown of yellow al-Khazz (skin or fur of an animal that lives in water) with ribbon work of yellow al- Khazz.’” 

عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي نَصْرٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ الرِّضَا ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ كَانَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ ( عليه السلام ) يَلْبَسُ الْجُبَّةَ الْخَزَّ بِخَمْسِينَ دِينَاراً وَ الْمِطْرَفَ الْخَزَّ بِخَمْسِينَ دِينَاراً .

2. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn abu Nasr who has said the following: “Abu al-Hassan, al-Rida’ (a.s.), has said, ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn, ‘Alayhim al-Salam, wore a gown of al-Khazz (skin or fur of an animal that lives in water) valued at fifty dinar and al-Khazz ribbon work of fifty dinar.’” 

أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الْأَشْعَرِيُّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَجَّاجِ قَالَ سَأَلَ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) رَجُلٌ وَ أَنَا عِنْدَهُ عَنْ جُلُودِ الْخَزِّ فَقَالَ لَيْسَ بِهَا بَأْسٌ فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ إِنَّهَا فِي بِلَادِي وَ إِنَّمَا هِيَ كِلَابٌ تَخْرُجُ مِنَ الْمَاءِ فَقَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) إِذَا خَرَجَتْ مِنَ الْمَاءِ تَعِيشُ خَارِجَةً مِنَ الْمَاءِ فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ لَا قَالَ فَلَا بَأْسَ.

3. Abu Ali al-Ash‘ariy has narrated from Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Jabbar from Safwan ibn Yahya from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Hajj aj who has said the following: “I, once, was with abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), when a man asked him (the Imam) about al- Khazz (skin or fur of an animal that lives in water). He (the Imam) said, ‘Its use is not unlawful.’ He then said, ‘I pray to Allah to keep my soul in service for your cause, in our land they are dogs that come out of the water.’ He (the Imam) asked, ‘When they come out of the water do they then live on land?’ The man replied, ‘No, they do not live on land.’ He (the Imam) then said, ‘Its use is not unlawful.’” 

عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الْوَشَّاءِ عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ الرِّضَا ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ كَانَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ ( عليه السلام ) يَلْبَسُ فِي الشِّتَاءِ الْخَزَّ وَ الْمِطْرَفَ الْخَزَّ وَ الْقَلَنْسُوَةَ الْخَزَّ فَيَشْتُو فِيهِ وَ يَبِيعُ الْمِطْرَفَ فِي الصَّيْفِ وَ يَتَصَدَّقُ بِثَمَنِهِ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ مَنْ حَرَّمَ زِينَةَ اللَّهِ الَّتِي أَخْرَجَ لِعِبادِهِ وَ الطَّيِّباتِ مِنَ الرِّزْقِ .

4. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from al-Hassan ibn Ali al-Washsha’ who has said the following: “I once heard abu al-Hassan, al-Rida’ (a.s.), saying, ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn, ‘Alayhim al- Salam, in winter would wear al-Khazz (skin or fur of an animal that lives in water) decorated on both sides and a hat of al-Khazz for winter, then sell them in the summer and give its value in charity.’ He (the Imam) then read, ‘Who has made unlawful the beautiful things that Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, has brought out for His servants and the very fine kinds of means of sustenance. (7:31)’” 

أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الْأَشْعَرِيُّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنِ الْعِيصِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ أَبِي دَاوُدَ يُوسُفَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ دَخَلْتُ عَلَى أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) وَ عَلَيَّ قَبَاءُ خَزٍّ وَ بِطَانَتُهُ خَزٌّ وَ طَيْلَسَانُ خَزٍّ مُرْتَفِعٌ فَقُلْتُ إِنَّ عَلَيَّ ثَوْباً أَكْرَهُ لُبْسَهُ فَقَالَ وَ مَا هُوَ قُلْتُ طَيْلَسَانِي هَذَا قَالَ وَ مَا بَالُ الطَّيْلَسَانِ قُلْتُ هُوَ خَزٌّ قَالَ وَ مَا بَالُ الْخَزِّ قُلْتُ سَدَاهُ إِبْرِيسَمٌ قَالَ وَ مَا بَالُ الْإِبْرِيسَمِ قَالَ لَا يُكْرَهُ أَنْ يَكُونَ سَدَى الثَّوْبِ إِبْرِيسَماً وَ لَا زِرُّهُ وَ لَا عَلَمُهُ إِنَّمَا يُكْرَهُ الْمُصْمَتُ مِنَ الْإِبْرِيسَمِ لِلرِّجَالِ وَ لَا يُكْرَهُ لِلنِّسَاءِ .

5. Abu Ali al-Ash‘ariy has narrated from Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Jabbar from Safwan ibn Yahya from al-‘Is ibn al-Qasim from abu Dawud, Yusuf ibn Ibrahim who has said the following: “I once visited abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), and I was wearing a gown of al-Khazz (skin or fur of an animal that lives in water) with its lining of al-Khazz, a Taylisan (pallium) of al-Khazz of very fine texture. I then said, ‘I am wearing a kind of clothing which I do not like.’ He (the Imam) asked, ‘Why is that so?’ I replied, ‘It is this Taylisan.’ He (the Imam) asked, ‘What is the matter with it?’ I replied, ‘It is of al-Khazz.’ He (the Imam) asked, ‘What is wrong with al-Khazz?’ I then said, ‘Its warp is of abrisam (silk from silk worm).’ He (the Imam) asked, ‘What is wrong with abrisam? It is not detestable if its warp is of abrisam, or its buttons or its emblems. Only all abrisam is detestable for men, and not for women.’” 

عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ أَبِي جَمِيلَةَ عَنْ رَجُلٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ إِنَّا مَعَاشِرَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ نَلْبَسُ الْخَزَّ وَ الْيُمْنَةَ .

6. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn abu ‘Abd Allah from Musa ibn al-Qasim from ‘Amr ibn ‘Uthman from abu Jamilah from a man who has said the following: “Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said, ‘We the community of the family of Muhammad wear al- Khazz (skin or fur of an animal that lives in water) and al-Yumnah (that which is made in Yemen).’” 

عَنْهُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ الرِّضَا ( عليه السلام ) عَنْ جُلُودِ الْخَزِّ فَقَالَ هُوَ ذَا نَلْبَسُ الْخَزَّ فَقُلْتُ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ ذَاكَ الْوَبَرُ فَقَالَ إِذَا حَلَّ وَبَرُهُ حَلَّ جِلْدُهُ .

7. It is narrated from the narrator of the previous Hadith from Sa‘d ibn Sa‘d who has said the following: “I once asked al-Rida’ (a.s.), about the al-Khazz (skin or fur of an animal that lives in water). He (the Imam) said, ‘It is al-Khazz that we wear.’ I then said, ‘I pray to Allah to keep my soul in service for your cause, that is fur.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘If its fur is lawful so also is its skin.’” 

عَنْهُ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ عِيسَى قَالَ كَتَبْتُ إِلَى أَبِي الْحَسَنِ الرِّضَا ( عليه السلام ) أَسْأَلُهُ عَنِ الدَّوَابِّ الَّتِي يُعْمَلُ الْخَزُّ مِنْ وَبَرِهَا أَ سِبَاعٌ هِيَ فَكَتَبَ ( عليه السلام ) لَبِسَ الْخَزَّ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ وَ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ جَدِّي ( عليهما السلام ) .

8. It is narrated from the narrator of the previous Hadith from Ja‘far ibn ‘Isa who has said the following: “I once wrote to abu al-Hassan, al-Rida’ (a.s.), about animals from the fur of which al- Khazz is made; if such animals are of predators.’ He (the Imam) wrote in answer, ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn, wore al-Khazz (garments made from skin or fur of an animal that lives in water) then my grandfather also did so.’” 

أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الْأَشْعَرِيُّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ النَّضْرِ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شِمْرٍ عَنْ جَابِرٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ قُتِلَ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ( عليه السلام ) وَ عَلَيْهِ جُبَّةُ خَزٍّ دَكْنَاءُ فَوَجَدُوا فِيهَا ثَلَاثَةً وَ سِتِّينَ مِنْ بَيْنِ ضَرْبَةٍ بِالسَّيْفِ وَ طَعْنَةٍ بِالرُّمْحِ أَوْ رَمْيَةٍ بِالسَّهْمِ .

9. Abu Ali al-Ash‘ariy has narrated from Muhammad ibn Salim from Ahmad ibn al-Nadr from ‘Amr ibn Shamir from Jabir who has said the following: “Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said that when al-Husayn (a.s.), was murdered, he wore a dark color Jubbah (gown) of al-Khazz (garments made of skin or fur of an animal that lives in water). They found thirty-three torn spots in it because of being hit with swords, spears or arrows.’” 

عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ حَفْصِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو أَبِي مُحَمَّدٍ مُؤَذِّنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ يَقْطِينٍ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ عَلَى أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) وَ هُوَ يُصَلِّي فِي الرَّوْضَةِ جُبَّةَ خَزٍّ سَفَرْجَلِيَّةً .

10. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Hafs ibn ‘Umar (‘Amr) abu Muhammad Mu’adhdhin Ali ibn Yaqtin who has said the following: “I saw abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), performing Salat (prayer) in al-Rawdah and wore a jubbah (gown) of al-Khazz (garments made of skin or fur of an animal that lives in water) of the color of quince.’”
