Al-Halwa’ (Sweet)
4 Aḥadīth
Ḥadīth 1

عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ هَارُونَ بْنِ مُوَفَّقٍ الْمَدِينِيِّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ بَعَثَ إِلَيَّ الْمَاضِي ( عليه السلام ) يَوْماً فَأَكَلْتُ عِنْدَهُ وَ أَكْثَرَ مِنَ الْحَلْوَاءِ فَقُلْتُ مَا أَكْثَرَ هَذِهِ الْحَلْوَاءَ فَقَالَ ( عليه السلام ) إِنَّا وَ شِيعَتَنَا خُلِقْنَا مِنَ الْحَلَاوَةِ فَنَحْنُ نُحِبُّ الْحَلْوَاءَ .

1. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Ahmad ibn Harun ibn Muwaffaq al-Madiniy from his father who has said the following: “Once al-Madiy (the previous) abu al-Hassan ‘Alayhi al-Salam, called me for food and I ate food with him. He (the Imam) ate quite a bit of al-Halwa’ (sweet) and I said, ‘This is quite a bit of al-HalwaY He (the Imam) said, ‘I and our followers are created from sweetness; thus we like sweet.’”

Ḥadīth 2

مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ مَنْ لَمْ يُرِدْ مِنَّا الْحَلْوَاءَ أَرَادَ الشَّرَابَ .

2. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn abu Hamzah from abu Basir who has said the following: “If one of us does not want al-Halwa’ he wants drink (which is sweet).”’

Ḥadīth 3

أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ يَعْقُوبَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى قَالَ أَكَلْتُ مَعَ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) يَوْماً فَأُتِيَ بِدَجَاجَةٍ مَحْشُوَّةٍ خَبِيصاً فَفَكَكْنَاهَا وَ أَكَلْنَاهَا .ابْنُ فَضَّالٍ عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ يَعْقُوبَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى قَالَ أَكَلْتُ مَعَ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) مِثْلَ الْخَبَرِ الْأَوَّلِ .

3. Ahmad ibn Muhammad narrated from Ibn Fadhal, from Yunus ibn Yaqub, from Abd al-A'la, who said: "I ate with Abu Abdullah al-Sadiq (as) one day when a chicken stuffed with khabees (a type of sweet dish) was brought to him. We took it apart and ate it." Ibn Fadhal also narrated from Yunus ibn Yaqub, from Abd al-A'la, who said: "I ate with Abu Abdullah al-Sadiq (as) similarly to the first report."

Ḥadīth 4

ابْنُ فَضَّالٍ عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ يَعْقُوبَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ كُنَّا بِالْمَدِينَةِ فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيْنَا اصْنَعُوا لَنَا فَالُوذَجَ وَ أَقِلُّوا فَأَرْسَلْنَا إِلَيْهِ فِي قَصْعَةٍ صَغِيرَةٍ .

4. Ibn Faddal has narrated from Yunus ibn Ya’qub who has said the following: “We were in al-Madinah and abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), sent a message to us to make for him (the Imam) Faludah (a kind of sweet) of a little quantity . We then sent it to him (the Imam) in a small bowl.’”
