Al-Kāfi - Volume 5 > Marriage with a Woman and Her Maternal or Paternal Aunt
Hadith #1

1- مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنِ ابْنِ بُكَيْرٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) قَالَ لا تُزَوَّجُ ابْنَةُ الأخِ وَلا ابْنَةُ الأخْتِ عَلَى الْعَمَّةِ وَلا عَلَى الْخَالَةِ إِلا بِإِذْنِهِمَا وَتُزَوَّجُ الْعَمَّةُ وَالْخَالَةُ عَلَى ابْنَةِ الأخِ وَابْنَةِ الأخْتِ بِغَيْرِ إِذْنِهِمَا.

1. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from al-Hassan ibn Ali ibn Faddal from ibn Bukayr from Muhammad ibn Muslim who has said the following: “Abu Ja‘far, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘You must not marry a daughter of a brother or daughter of a sister as a second wife, the first being her paternal or maternal aunt without their permission and you must not marry a paternal or maternal aunt as a second wife, the first being a daughter of her brother or a daughter of her sister, without their permission.’”



Hadith #2

2- عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ رِئَابٍ عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ الْحَذَّاءِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) قَالَ لا تُنْكَحُ الْمَرْأَةُ عَلَى عَمَّتِهَا وَلا خَالَتِهَا إِلا بِإِذْنِ الْعَمَّةِ وَالْخَالَةِ.

2. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from al-Hassan ibn Mahbub from ibn Ri’ab from abu ‘Ubaydah al- Hadhdha’ who has said the following: “I once heard abu Ja‘far, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, saying, ‘You must not marry a woman as a second wife, the first being her paternal or maternal aunt, without her permission.’”
