Al-Kāfi - Volume 3 > Salah (Prayer) of a Traveler Person behind a Non-Traveler
Hadith #1

1ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ حَمَّادٍ عَنِ الْحَلَبِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) فِي الْمُسَافِرِ يُصَلِّي خَلْفَ الْمُقِيمِ قَالَ يُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَيَمْضِي حَيْثُ شَاءَ.

1. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ibn abu ‘Umayr from Hammad from al-Halabiy who has said the following: “I once asked abu ’Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, about a traveler if he can perform Salah (prayer) behind a non-traveler. He (the Imam) said, ‘After performing two Rak‘at, he then can move away whenever he wants.’”



Hadith #2

2ـ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُعَلَّى بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْوَشَّاءِ عَنْ أَبَانِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) عَنِ الْمُسَافِرِ يُصَلِّي مَعَ الإِمَامِ فَيُدْرِكُ مِنَ الصَّلاَةِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ أَ يُجْزِئُ ذَلِكَ عَنْهُ فَقَالَ نَعَمْ.

2. Al-Husayn ibn Muhammad has narrated from Mu‘alla’ ibn Muhammad, from al-Washsha’ from Aban ibn ‘Uthman, from ‘Umar ibn Yazid who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, about a traveler who performs Salah (prayer) behind an Imam and joins only for two Rak‘at, is it sufficient? He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, it is sufficient.’”
