Muhammad b. Ibrahim b. Ishaq narrated to us. He said: Ahmad b. Muhammad al-Kufi narrated to us from `Ali b. al-Husayn b. `Ali b. Faddal from his father from Abu’l Hasan `Ali b. Musa al-Rida . He said: Whoever fasts the first day of Rajab in hope for Allah’s reward, Paradise will be made mandatory for him. Whoever fasts a day in the middle [of Rajab] will be able to intercede for the like of Rabi` and Mudar. Whoever fasts a day at the end [of Rajab], Allah will make him from the kings of Paradise; and he will intercede for his father, his mother, his son, his daughter, his brother, his sister, his paternal uncle, his paternal aunt, his maternal uncle, his maternal aunt, his acquaintances, and his neighbours, even if Hell was made mandatory for some of them.

Al-Hasan b. `Abdullah b. Sa`id narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. Ahmad b. Hamdan al-Qurayshi narrated to us. He said: Al-Mughira b. Muhammad b. al-Mahlab narrated to us. He said: `Abd al-Ghaffar b. Muhammad b. Kathir al-Kilabi al-Kufi narrated to us from `Amr b. Thabit from Jabir from Abu Ja`far Muhammad b. `Ali b. al-Husayn from `Ali b. al-Husayn from his father . He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said: One who loves me and loves my Ahl al-Bayt will benefit in seven places and will be rewarded generously: (1) at death, (2) in the grave, (3) at the Resurrection, (4) at the [giving of the] book, (5) at the Judgment, (6) at the scale, and (7) on the Path.

Muhammad b. al-Hasan b. Ahmad b. al-Walid narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. al-Hasan al-Saffar narrated to us. He said: Ahmad b. Abi `Abdullah al-Barqi narrated to us from Isma`il b. Mehran from Sayf b. `Amira from Sulayman b. Ja`far al-Nakha`I from Muhammad b. Muslim and others from Abu Ja`far Muhammad b. `Ali al-Baqir . He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) was asked about the best of worshipers, so he said: Those whom, if they do good, they are gladdened; and if they do evil, they seek forgiveness; and if they are given, they are thankful; and if they face calamity, they are patient; and if they get angry, they seek pardon.

Muhammad b. Musa al-Mutawakkil narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. al-Husayn al-Sa`d Abadi narrated to us from Ahmad b. Abi `Abdullah al-Barqi from his father from Zur`a from Sama`a b. Mehran from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad from his father . He said: If a traveller prays Jumu`a out of desire for it, Allah will give him the reward of one hundred Jum`a prayers of one who is not travelling.

Muhammad b. `Ali narrated to us from his uncle Muhammad b. Abi al-Qasim from Muhammad b. `Ali al-Kufi from Muhammad b. Sinan from Ziyad b. al-Mundhir from Sa`id b. Jubayr from Ibn `Abbas. He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said: Whoever opposes `Ali b. Abi Talib after me is a disbeliever, and whoever associates partners with him is a polytheist. Whoever loves him is a believer, and whoever hates him is a hypocrite. Whoever pursues what he leaves behind is in pursuit [of Paradise], whoever is at war with him is a traitor, and whoever turns away from him is in falsehood. `Ali is the light of Allah in His cities, and His Proof over the worshipers. `Ali is the Sword of Allah upon His enemies, and the inheritor of the knowledge of His prophets. `Ali is the exalted word of Allah, and the words of his enemies are lowly. `Ali is the Master of the Deputies, and the Deputy of the Master of Prophets. `Ali is the Commander of the Faithful, the Leader of the shining believers, and the Imam of the Muslims. Allah does not accept faith except in his wilaya and his obedience.

Muhammad b. al-Qasim narrated to us. He said: Yusuf b. Muhammad b. Ziyad and `Ali b. Muhammad b. Yasar narrated to us from their fathers from al-Hasan b. `Ali b. Muhammad b. `Ali b. Musa b. Ja`far b. Muhammad b. `Ali b. al-Husayn b. `Ali b. Abi Talib from his father from his forefathers . He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said to one of his companions that day: O `Abdullah! Love in the way of Allah, hate in the way of Allah, befriend in the way of Allah, and oppose in the way of Allah, for the wilaya of Allah is only achieved through this. A man cannot taste faith, even if he increases his prayer and his fasting, until he does all this. In this day and age, the people are brotherly over this world – they love one another over it, and they hate one another over it; yet it will not make them free of the need for Allah. So, it was said to him: How will I know that I have befriended and opposed in the way of Allah? Who is the friend of Allah, so that I may befriend him; and who is His enemy, so that I may oppose him? So, the Messenger of Allah (s) pointed to `Ali for him and said: Do you see this? So, he said: Of course. He said: His friend is the friend of Allah, so befriend him. His enemy is the enemy of Allah, so oppose him. Befriend his friend, even if he killed your father and your son; and oppose his enemy, even if he is your father or your son.

My father narrated to us. He said: Sa`d b. `Abdullah narrated to us. He said: Ahmad b. Muhammad narrated to us from his father from Muhammad b. Ziyad al-Azdi from Aban and other than him from Abu `Abdillah . He said: I pray for mercy for three – and it is their right to be prayed for mercy: (1) a person dear to his community who is afflicted with humiliation after glory, (2) a rich person that is afflicted with a need after needlessness, and (3) a scholar that is undervalued by his people and the ignorant.

Muhammad b. al-Hasan narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. al-Hasan al-Saffar narrated to us. He said: al-`Abbas b. Ma`ruf narrated to us from Muhammad b. Sinan from Ghiyath b. Ibrahim from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad from his father from his forefathers . He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said: You do not please the people with your wealth, so please them with your character.

Ahmad b. Muhammad narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. `Ali b. Yahya narrated to us. He said: Abu Bakr b. Nafi` narrated to us. He said: Umayya b. Khalid narrated to us. He said: Hamid b. Salama narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. Zayd narrated to us from `Ali b. al-Husayn. He said: I heard my father narrate from his father Amir al-Mu’minin `Ali b. Abi Talib narrate: I heard the Messenger of Allah (s) say: O `Ali! You are the deputy and the Imam of my Nation. Whoever obeys you has obeyed me, and whoever disobeys you has disobeyed me.
