1. My father (rah) said: it was narrated to me by Muhammad b. Yahya al-’Attar from Muhammad b. Ahmad from al-Hassan b. al-Hassan al-Lu’lu’ee who raised it to from ’Amru b. Shimr from Jabir from Abi Ja’far (a.s.) who said: “A worshipper prayed to Allah for eighty years. Then he fell in love with a woman and fulfilled his desires with her. When the angel of death approached him, he became mute. A beggar happened to pass by. That person pointed out the beggar to take the piece of bread lying in his pocket. The Almighty Allah had destroyed his worship of eighty years due to the adultery committed by him but He forgave him for offering that piece of bread.”

3. The narrator was present near Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s.) when there was a discussion about illness. Imam said, “Treat your illness with Sadaqah. Why don’t you offer a day’s food as Sadaqah? If the angel of death is ordered to take out the soul of a person and he pays Sadaqah, the angel of death is told to return.”

6. It was narrated to me by al-Hassan b. Ahmad from his father from Muhammad b. Ahmad b. Ibrahim b. Hashim from Musa b. Abi al-Hassan from al-Ridha (a.s.) who said: Imam Reza (a.s.) narrates that there was drought in Bani Israel for many years at a stretch. A woman kept a morsel in her mouth. A beggar passed by and called out, “O woman! I am hungry.” The woman thought that she should offer Sadaqah and took out the morsel from her mouth and gave it to the beggar. The woman had a young child who had gone to collect some firewood in the forest. A wolf picked the child up and started running away. The woman started chasing that wolf. Allah sent Jibraeel at that time and he took the child from wolf and returned him to his mother and told her, “O woman! Are you happy to get the return of that morsel through this one?”
