Al-Kāfi

1ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنِ ابْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنِ ابْنِ بُكَيْرٍ عَنْ حَمْزَةَ بْنِ حُمْرَانَ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ حَنْظَلَةَ قَالَ قَالَ لِي أَبُو عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) يَا أَبَا الصَّخْرِ إِنَّ الله يُعْطِي الدُّنْيَا مَنْ يُحِبُّ وَيُبْغِضُ وَلا يُعْطِي هَذَا الأمْرَ إِلا صَفْوَتَهُ مِنْ خَلْقِهِ أَنْتُمْ وَالله عَلَى دِينِي وَدِينِ آبَائِي إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَإِسْمَاعِيلَ لا أَعْنِي عَلِيَّ بْنَ الْحُسَيْنِ وَلا مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ وَإِنْ كَانَ هَؤُلاءِ عَلَى دِينِ هَؤُلاءِ.

1. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from ibn Faddal from ibn Bukayr from Hamza ibn Humran from ‘Umar ibn Hanzalah who has said the following: “Once Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) said to me, ‘O abu al-Sakhr, Allah indeed grants the world to whoever He loves or hates. He does not grant this cause (belief) but to the chosen ones of His creatures. You, by Allah, follow my religion and the religion of my predecessors, Ibrahim and Isma’il. I do not mean thereby Ali ibn al-Husayn, Muhammad ibn Ali (a.s.) even though they follow their (Abraham and Isma’il’s) religion.’”

2ـ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُعَلَّى بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الْوَشَّاءِ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ حُمَيْدٍ عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَعْيَنَ الْجُهَنِيِّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) يَقُولُ يَا مَالِكُ إِنَّ الله يُعْطِي الدُّنْيَا مَنْ يُحِبُّ وَيُبْغِضُ وَلا يُعْطِي دِينَهُ إِلا مَنْ يُحِبُّ.

2. Al-Husayn ibn Muhammad has narrated from Mu’alla ibn Muhammad from al- Hassan ibn Ali al-Washsha’ from ‘Asim ibn Hamidf from Malik ibn ‘Ayun al- Juhni who has said the following: “I heard abu Ja’far (a.s.) saying, ‘O Malik, Allah grants the world to those whom He loves, and those whom He hates, but He grants His religion only to those whom He loves.’”

3ـ عَنْهُ عَنْ مُعَلىً عَنِ الْوَشَّاءِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو الْخَثْعَمِيِّ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ حَنْظَلَةَ وَعَنْ حَمْزَةَ بْنِ حُمْرَانَ عَنْ حُمْرَانَ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ إِنَّ هَذِهِ الدُّنْيَا يُعْطِيهَا الله الْبَرَّ وَالْفَاجِرَ وَلا يُعْطِي الإيمَانَ إِلا صَفْوَتَهُ مِنْ خَلْقِهِ.

3. It is narrated from him (narrator of the Hadith above) from Mu’alla from al- Washsha’ from ‘Abd al-Karim ibn ‘Amr al-Khath’ami from ‘Umar ibn Hanzalah and Hamza ibn Humran from abu Ja’far (a.s.) who has said the following: “Allah gives this world to both the virtuous and evil-doing people, but He does not give belief to anyone except to His chosen creatures.”

4ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ النُّعْمَانِ عَنْ أَبِي سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ مُيَسِّرٍ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) إِنَّ الدُّنْيَا يُعْطِيهَا الله عَزَّ وَجَلَّ مَنْ أَحَبَّ وَمَنْ أَبْغَضَ وَإِنَّ الإيمَانَ لا يُعْطِيهِ إِلا مَنْ أَحَبَّهُ.

4. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn al-Nu’man from abu Sulayman from Muyassir who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, gives the world to those He loves as well as to those He hates, but He does not give belief to anyone except those He loves.”
